After inserting into masterTable it returns an ID. With that ID I want to enter more than one row into a transaction table.
I am using two separate procedures. The problem is, after inserting the record into master, and while inserting into the transaction table, if any interruption occurs I want to abort the corresponding insert of the master table.
I have a transaction table which has start_date and end_date of datetime datatype.
I am passing date from vb.net application. I wrote following code in vb.net application and query generated was somthing un-expected:
String.Format("SELECT * FROM {0}{1} WHERE {0}tran_date >= '{2}' and {0}tran_date <= '{3}' ;", _Pre, _Table, DateFrom.Date, DateTo.Date)
Here Both DateFrom and DateTo are date variables.
It produced output like:
SELECT * FROM rm07transaction
WHERE
rm07tran_date >= '03/16/2011 12:00:00 AM' and
rm07tran_date <= '03/16/2011 12:00:00 AM'
When i make query to find data of 03/16/2011 they are not populated

The table consists of 2 columns called ID (which is auto increment PK) and ISBN. The table is called IntTable in a database called book.mdf. I have a web portal designed in ASP.NET in which we ask customers to enter the data. On the click of submit button all i have done is, just read the data and called a stored procedure which inserts that into a table. There seems to be a problem in SQL Server 2005 while inserting the data from multiple computers at the same time. We have tested in our lab with three computers, result is that we get the data inserted successfully in only one machine and on the other two machines we get error on page. I have used transactions in the stored procedure and also tried setting the isolation levels to READ_UNCOMMITTED, SERIALIZABLE and SNAPSHOT. Nothing seems to work properly.

I want to insert data to a table in SQL DB.I have a combo box with the values "5" and "6". When you click one or the other in the combo box i want these values to be inserted in a database( MS SQL Server 2008).I also have some textboxes which are bind correnctly and have no problem. The problem is with the bindings(i guess) of the combo box. I get sql exception.

View 7 RepliesI have a series of DML and DDL(Drop View only) statements that I need to execute under single transaction from VB.net app. I m using commandObj, and kept above all I kept beginTransaction statement. Everything is working fine expect when error is returned by Drop statement. If Drop statement returns error then whole transaction is rolledback. I do not want tthis. I want to continue even if Drop fails keeping the other DML statements that were executed before Drop.

Other posts I have seen with similar error suggests this can occur if it takes a long time, or contains large amounts of data. This is not the case here.Logging tells me it takes 140 ms from Begin to Commit and about 10 commands executed inside the transaction.It is using an Oracle database.This class is a simplified version of my database class:

Is it not allowed to run a select inside a transaction like this? Or can it be done by running the transaction in a specific isolation level (I see that the BeginTransaction method has an optional parameter for doing this) ? ..Or some other sollution..? In my case, it was not a problem to move the select to run before the transaction started, but what if you need to run selects that must run inside the transaction?
I've seen plenty of examples of transactions in the actual store procedure's SQL. But I'm wanting to do the transaction and keep track of it in code. I tried this but it says that my insertcommand's transaction object is null. How can I fix this?

I'm using MS ACCESS for my dbase..i have a tblborrow where you can find transac_num ..now, i have in my form a label which here, you can see how many transactions you have done already(i'll name it sa lbltransacno) and a save button..what i want now is that.. every time the user save a transaction.. the lbltransacno will automatically go to its next number.. but of course.. the user should fill up the information needed.. if those are not filled up, and he click the save button.. the transaction will not be counted.. how to code it?
