Am New To This Fourm So Forgive Me If I Have Put This In The Worng Place I HAve Been Programming For 3 Years And Need A Project I Am Doing.I Am Using Visual Basic 2008 Express EditionOutlineI Want To Be Able To Add A Dword Value To A Exsisting Location and add a value to that Dword Value
Example: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList and then Add a new Dword Value that is not there such as Administrator
I am building VB.NET application that takes data from text files that are exported from a legacy DOS program. These are written to a datatable and displayed in a datagridview. Right now my code simply loops through the datagridview and inserts the data into the database (SQL Server). There is a requirement now that the client number must be checked before the insert to see if it exists in the database. If it does, then the value of one field (tax rate) is checked against the value of the field in the datagridview. If there is a difference, then the rate is to be updated in the database and the data that was in the database is to be written to a history table for audit purposes. If the client number is not there, then we are to do the insert (which is already written). I want to know what is the most elegant and efficient solution for this problem.
I need to compare what is in the database table with what is in the datagridview, update the history table for records that exist, and then insert new records.
i am having trouble with the inserting of new values though the textboxes. it gives me the error Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement., OLE DBEXCEPTION was unhandled at da.Update(ds,[code]
Using SQL Server 2005 When i insert the date it should compare the date in the table. If it is equal with other date, it should display a error message and also it should allow only to insert the next date.For Example

I have a FormView where I pull data from one table (MS Access), and then insert it (plus more data) into another table. I'm having issues with the dates.The first table has two date fields: date_submitted and date_updated. In some records, date_updated is blank. This causes me to get a data mismatch error when attempting to insert into the second table.It might be because I'm databinding the date_updated field from the first table into a HiddenField on the FormView. It then takes the value from the HiddenField and attempts to insert it into the second table:

i am trying to read from a text file and enter this into a table.The text file contains just 3 didget numbers sepearted by a line to distingues a new number. The table consists of 2 columns called ID (which is auto increment PK) and ISBN. The table is called IntTable in a database called book.mdf. I have 2 tables loginInfo and UserInfo. LoginInfo Stores username and passwords while userinfo stores other user details such as Address,postalcode,phone etc.
I insert values into loginInfo first and if successful I enter the userInfo details. If exception occurs while entering details into userInfo i delete the loginInfo details.
This is how I do now

Currently I have a problem with updating my database with values in my Data Grid View.
On my form I have a "Populate" button and "Submit Details" button.
The "Populate" button fills my Data Grid with numerous lines of data.
On the click event for "Submit Details" I want this data to be inserted into a table in my DataBase by looping through each record.

After inserting into masterTable it returns an ID. With that ID I want to enter more than one row into a transaction table.
I am using two separate procedures. The problem is, after inserting the record into master, and while inserting into the transaction table, if any interruption occurs I want to abort the corresponding insert of the master table.

I have a DEM file(Digital Elevattion Model File) and I am trying to open the file,where we have Latitude and Longitude values inside the DEM file.And, Now I have opened the file using Filestream and Read the file using BinaryReader.But, I am having a trobule in getting the values of Latitude and Longitude.I am getting Byte values randomly as 1,202,31,271 etc.But, we dont have latitude and longitude values more than 180,and also I am not getting 16 bit UInt values.For example, the values should be like Latitude 20.00416666666667 and Longitude 39.99583333333333.So,read the correct Byte values of the DEM file.The code I have used till now is:

lets say I have a form (form1) with lables a-z which are all designed with default text "0". So they all show 0 on program startup. which is fine. I also have a dialog with 2 TextBoxes; I want my program to update the default text/value on (only)form1 labels x, y and z to whatever was put into the textboxes when i press the OK button on the Dialog, so these specified labels show the 'new' value on next startup. Is it even possible or should I save the values to a file which loads the values in the specified labels on startup?

Now I need to exclude another value ("Awaiting Progression") from a second column called "PROGRESSION".

I have a bunch of events with values (how many people went through a doorway). Each event is associated with a Date. There is no fixed period to the events .If no one comes through the door, no event is generated, but often multiple people can go through at once, so the value can be greater than one.
Sometimes events are minutes apart for a time, sometimes there is gaps of a few hours,
Using the Date class, is there an easy way to average my values over periods of time?
