After inserting into masterTable it returns an ID. With that ID I want to enter more than one row into a transaction table.
I am using two separate procedures. The problem is, after inserting the record into master, and while inserting into the transaction table, if any interruption occurs I want to abort the corresponding insert of the master table.
I have a series of DML and DDL(Drop View only) statements that I need to execute under single transaction from VB.net app. I m using commandObj, and kept above all I kept beginTransaction statement. Everything is working fine expect when error is returned by Drop statement. If Drop statement returns error then whole transaction is rolledback. I do not want tthis. I want to continue even if Drop fails keeping the other DML statements that were executed before Drop.
I get this error at the Commit of a transaction in a desktop application:
This OleDbTransaction has completed; it is no longer usable.
Other posts I have seen with similar error suggests this can occur if it takes a long time, or contains large amounts of data. This is not the case here.Logging tells me it takes 140 ms from Begin to Commit and about 10 commands executed inside the transaction. It is using an Oracle database. This class is a simplified version of my database class:
Class MyDatabase Private mConnection AS OleDbConnection Private mTransaction AS OleDbTransaction
[code]....
Is it not allowed to run a select inside a transaction like this? Or can it be done by running the transaction in a specific isolation level (I see that the BeginTransaction method has an optional parameter for doing this) ? ..Or some other sollution..? In my case, it was not a problem to move the select to run before the transaction started, but what if you need to run selects that must run inside the transaction?
I've seen plenty of examples of transactions in the actual store procedure's SQL. But I'm wanting to do the transaction and keep track of it in code. I tried this but it says that my insertcommand's transaction object is null. How can I fix this?
vb Dim conn As SqlConnection = DBConnections.SQLServerConnection conn.Open() Dim params(1) As SqlParameter
Error : Execute requires the command to have a transaction object when the connection assigned to the command is in a pending local transaction. The transaction property of the command has not been initialized..
This one causes the error: Dim oOperation As COperationOutputTypeBS oOperation = COperationOutputTypeBS.GetOperationOutputType(txtOperationCode.Text)
I'm using an Entity Framework context, and sometimes would like to create a transaction so that the client can do multiple changes and then commit/rollback them all together. However, if many changes were made, and SaveChanges() was called multiple times, after which a rollback is called, entities that were commited already, will remain the way they were commited, and would not roll back. Here's how my transaction-relative functions look like:
Public Sub BeginTransaction() Dim context = HttpContext.Current.GetObjectContext() If Not context.Connection.State = ConnectionState.Open Then context.Connection.Open() End If
[Code]...
Not only does the test fail, but it also leave the ObjectContext in an unstable mode, because it still has invalid changes in it.
I have a query that I have to run that requires me to get rows from a table based on the value of a field in another table (which I have gotten earlier). I currently have it done like this (simplified).
I am working with a Vb.net 2005 application. On the application I have a Create table button which when clicked creates a table in Sql server with the code shown below;
Code: Private Sub BtnCrtTable_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles BtnCrtTable.Click
[Code]...
This is really a pre-defined table and the data is already specified to be inserted to the table. However, my primarily task is to read a flat file which has the data and consider the first line as the column to be column names.
Therefore, initially I created an open dialogue to browse for the text file and store the path such as E:Datafile est.txt, in a TextBox1 visible at run time. Now the task is to change the above "create table" to read the txt file (column names are on the first line) and then create the table in the database.
i two tables named tblaccess(nID,nRoleID,nModuleID,cAccess) andtblmodule(nModuleID,cModuleName) and i have a datagrid which is bounded to tblaccess. the problem is, I want to display cModuleName from tblmodule instead of nModuleID. please tell me how.
I am having a remote server it has INVENTORY DATABSE , and also iam having same databse in my local system. I want to populate by local database table with my Remote database table through Vb.net code by click a button. How to do this .
I use a dbDataAdapter to populate a DataTable from an unlinked oracle database.I have a dbDataAdapter that I want to insert rows into an SQL Server table using SQLCommandBuilder.I have been trying all day to update the DataTable that references the SQL Server table with the data from the Oracle DataTable so that I can insert the rows.
I'm using visual studio. I would like to change <DBNULL> default value of table date column into Today Date. I have try with lot of strings, but could not get right value. My goal is when I will create new record, column for date will take today's date.
The problem that i have right now is that i don't really know how to compare two dates. What i am actually trying to do is to compare the Date Today with vbSunday, vbMonday etc using if. But something goes wrong. As for an example:
I have a form with seven tickboxes - one for each day of the week - each one saved in my.settings.monday, my.settings.tuesday, etc Now I need to check if something should happen today and the code I'm using (below) seems very longwinded. Can anyone help 'tidy it up'?
If Now.DayOfWeek = DayOfWeek.Monday And My.Settings.monday = True Then 'do it End If
all you clever people out there I'm rather new to this and I'm using vb.net in visual studio 2005 and I want to add 20 WORKING days to the TODAY() value. I'm able to add the days, but it also adds NON-WORKING days.
How can I pick out files using todays date? I have files that have dates and times in a folder, 08-25-2010-123803654.xml, 08-25-2010-123804441.xml, 08-24-2010-123851240.xml, etc. I want to pull out just todays entrys and when i put in my code it gives me an error.
Am converting 2003 program to 2008 and after convertion I get warning about this line Today.Now.ToString("dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss")It doesnt have the .now in 2008? Any idea what i should be using.... as I cant see anything close on list of Today. options.
Does anyone now how to get the first (next) wednesday (whatever) after today? I need to to this for the 6 following months. I only need the date of them. Anyone with some good pointers?
As the properties Value of the date/time picker does not allow to enter the DateTime. Now default value, I have tried to set it in the code:[code]It indeed shows the current date on opening the form with the date/time picker. However one cannot set any other date from the drop down calendar (one can choose a date, what means that the calendar is dropped down allowing to point a date, but after clicking the choice the date/time picker value returns to the current date).
Im using vb.net to create a program for customers. The point is that when the customer comes and pay i want to print the invoice with only today date and payment.
I have a dateTimePicker and I set the maxdate to today's date Now when a user select the date after today's date it won't select it but it still be displayed. How can I remove them or disable them do the users can't even click on the date if it is after today's date
I have a textbox that get the date from the system itself, is working good and I have another textbox that will get the date that the person needs to bring the Book back. I wont the person to type the date but the program do it automatically (something like 20/04/2009 + four days=24/04/2009) automatically, something like if the person took the book on todaydate(20/04/2009) the function add more 3 days and display on textboxreturn( 24/04/2009). I don't want the person to type the return date, but to build a function that do it.... 0&1Bytes
I'm calling a method that will produce a log file, and I'm passing Today() and TimeOfDay() to this method. It works fine in XP, but in Windows 7 an exception is being produced saying I don't have permissions to update the system time. I'm not even trying to update the system time, just use it but it still gives me this error.
