Nov 11, 2009I am storing an array of a custom serializable class in session on my site. When a page on the site changes, suddenly it renders them invalid, and tells me that it can't cast the type to it's own type. I assume the class version numbers are changing or something?!
I'm not trying to redesign this whole process.

VB Web Service - Redirect The User When Their Session Is Active?
Mar 15, 2012I created a function that allows me to login to my web service. I created a session here and added some values I retrieved from a stored procedure.[code].....
My question is: I have a default.aspx and a master page, how can I redirect the user when their session is active? For example, the default page tells users that access is forbidden untill the login/register.Do I have to use the form load handler for default.aspx or the masterpages' load handler? How do I check weither the usersession is active?

Asp.net - Returning Variable Page Route Value To Page (URL Rewriting)?
May 7, 2012In my global.asax.vb I have a rule like so:
RouteTable.Routes.MapPageRoute("defaultRoute", "{*value}", "~/default.aspx")
So, if someone enters:[URL]...Even though that page doesn't exist, the application pulls up default.aspx
Now, if this wasn't using a wildcard it would be easy to pull this value in on default.aspx like so:
Dim prospect as String = Page.RouteData.Values("value")
But this doesn't seem to work with wildcards, e.g.:Dim prospect as String = Page.RouteData.Values("*value")
How can I get the page to pick up these variable values? e.g. one time might be janedoe, another johndoe, another goose, another 12345, etc. Whatever it is, I want it to be returned into the string prospect.

Mar 19, 2012So I read up on this method called PRG as a way of addressing the form double-submit issue. However, I have yet to find a descent implementation of the Summary Page / Success Message displayed to the user. The only way I can think of is storing a session variable, but I don't want it to persist on multiple refreshes. It should show the message/summary once, and be done. Furthermore, it would be ideal if the user could not return to the previously submitted page.

The question is, how to display this message on the redirect which directly results from the submit, and preferably not for any further refreshes? Or just simply display the message regardless of refreshes,whatever is easiest and makes the most sense.

C# - Why Does Response.Redirect Sometimes Pull Page From Cache
Jan 18, 2010I've noticed that when I Response.Redirect to an .aspx page, it sometimes displays a cached page instead of actually executing the page and pulling fresh data from the database. I'm not using output caching or anything special in .Net here -- this is a CRM, and the caching is either happening on the client or, perhaps more likely, automatically in IIS. There is never a querystring involved, by the way. I'm passing a key via session. I know that if I used the querystring it would probably partially bypass the cache problem, but it's not an option in this case.
I did a little digging, and some people get around this by using Server.Transfer (which actually behaves differently than Response.Redirect and some of the details are not always desirable), and some other people said to set Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache) on the page where I want to avoid caching. I thought .aspx pages were always flagged to avoid caching. Right?

The problem is, is that I have Response.Redirect calls in the middle of the VB code (aspx.vb) and it seems to redirect before rendering the page. Is there any way around this? I need to have the page render so that some JavaScript on the client side (aspx) can run (it is for Google Analytics).
