I have created a toolbar on my form and added icons (.ico or .png) such as New, Open, Save, etc. I can't seem to find out how to make my icons transparent so I don't have the white background displayed on the icons.
how can i create an icon (with transparency) from a bitmap?
i've tried this code, which i converted from a create cursor function which worked ok with transparency. i'm guessing its the IconInfo hbmMask + hbmColor properties?
#Region " CreateIconIndirect" Private Structure IconInfo Public fIcon As Boolean
I have a system icon (for example a folder icon) and I want to display it in a richtextbox. That's not a problem, but the transparency of the icon is gone and is replaced by a blue color. I tried to use the MakeTranparent function of the bitmap object, but with no luck. How can I make the bitmap transparent again?
Here is my code:
Dim _mycurrentFolder As String = "C:Test" Dim _folderIcon As Icon = GetSystemIcon(_mycurrentFolder) Dim _folderBitmap As Bitmap = _folderIcon.ToBitmap()
I have less than good eyesight now as my age increases :) I have managed to make most text areas/dialogs etc suitable for my eyesight, but can't find any way to edit/alter the Toolbar Icons - I expected to fin (at least) a seting for 'large' icons, or a way to increase/decrease the sizes - but so far I haven't been successful.
I find the icons/toolbars to be poorly designed in that they are on a grey background which just serves to minimise their effect.
Iam creating a Inventory System on vb.net and I need some image for like new, search, delete copy cut edit etc can any Help me from I get all this Images, I try to search in google bt I did't get
i want to design a new program that should start with windows and its icon should appear at the toolbar the idea is when i click on the icon a rectangular forum should appear. my question is that: what is the best tool or control should i use? should i use the blank project of windows application or there is special project for that.
I currently have the following code but I would like to get away from going to a physical location. If I have the icon as a resource, how can I programatically add the icon? I don't want to use the form's designer to do this.
Sub Form1_Load() Dim ico As New System.Drawing.Icon("C:Resourcesicon.ico") Me.Icon = ico End Sub
My application icon looks ugly-like a paper and i would like to change it to something like globe icon or any suitable image.Am programming using visual studio 2005 and the program is written in vb.net.
I'm not sure exactly if the folder icon is in shell32.dll, but nonetheless if it is.Basically, whenever I come across a folder in a FileSystem list, I want to add the icon for a folder to the image list that I am using for the ListView. The problem is that I'm not sure how to reference a specific icon location in a icon collection in a dll.Is this possible with Icon.ExtractAssociatedIcon and shell32.dll?
Got an annoying issue it's Visual Basic 2010 I changed icon where the assembly name.I got a good icon it has lots of sizes, or I tried diff sizes like 64x64 128x128 nothing seems to work I only see the icon when i do View > Details so it's small icons in the folder, but if i have view large icons It doesn't work. I even used the same icon on VS 2008 and it worked.
Here's the code that I use to extract the icon size that I want:
Dim i As Icon = My.Resources.Spectrum Using i2 As New Icon(i, New Size(256, 256)) Me.PictureBox1.Image = i2.ToBitmap End Using
This works from 16x16 up to 128x128 but for 256x256 it extracts the 128x128 icon. I tried 0x0, because I seem to remember that that is how the large size is stored in the meta data, but that didn't work either.
I'm attempting to remake the Explorer to customize it some more. I know how to get Name, FileSize ect. Getting the Icon is hard though. [Code] The code i'm using to Insert the Icon into a image, i'm getting this error: Error1Value of type 'System. Drawing.Icon' cannot be converted to 'System.Drawing.Image'
i'm getting this really strange error, or I must be overlooking something obvious. I'm using the following piece of code:Dim hwnd As Integer = GetWindow(GetDesktopWindow, GW_ CHILD) Dim myicon. As System.Drawing.Icon =Icon.FromHandle(hwnd)PictureBox1.Image =myicon.ToBitmap
Why is it that the icon of my form appears only when I am running it in my IDE. When I publish my program and running it in Windows, the icon does not appear at the taskbar, what appears is a default icon instead.
I've just changed the Icon for my application in the project->Properties->Application tab. However when running it's still the old (small) icon in the taskbar. How is this changed?
I have an issue with the icon displayed on the desktop. I have used the project's properties, application form and used the dropdown menu under icon to associate an Icon to the application. I have done this loads of times before and it has always worked.
Dim iconloci As String = located Dim iconindex As String = iconloci.LastIndexOf(" exename: ") iconloci = iconloci.Remove(iconindex) Dim theicon As Image
[code].....
It works perfectly for files on the local system. But i need it to also grab icons from exe files in network locations(\\example-pc\example). Vb net just throws an error when trying....The error:QuoteValue of "\\examaple-pc\example-folder\example-file.exe" is not valid for 'filepath'.
Im trying to make the an icon for the form work with my own icon, because all programs have their own(like ie hat the e and paint.net has their logo), but whenever I put in my icon phote(and it is saved as .Ico) it comes up with the error: Argument 'picture' must be a picture that can be used as an icon. I have the same measurments as the defult one(32 by 32) so what am i doing wrong?
I have a vb.net 2008 application which has its corresponding icon. The icon shows correctly except in the taskbar when the "small icon" setting is on.
My vb.net project includes a .ico file which when I see in the IDE includes 16x16, 32x32, 48x48, 64x64 and 256x256 bitmaps, in 4, 24 and 32 bits, also 3 .png images in 256x256 32 bits each.
I made the icon myself simply using a 64x64 bitmap and then converting it to .ico, and assigning it to the application in the project properties. I thought windows would use and escalate the corresponding image, it shows even in the file explorer properly in the small icon form, but not in the taskbar.
I am writing an application that will cache all my files and then let me display files that I would like to display. I am wanting to extract the icons from each file as I cache them.My question is this: How can I detect if the icon from one file is the same as another icon and therefore prevent me from extracting it twice?
Ive found plenty of examples of extracting an icon from a dll, but then those examples display the icon as an image, which is not what Im trying to do. Im trying to extract those icons dynamically into my program to set the application icon, and other icons for items on the menu bar. I have this little bit of code, but I keep getting various errors when I use it.
how can i control swf background transparency in vb.net either with flash.ocx or if there is any other way.so that if i have a swf animation block with red in background and some text written with yellow. now how can i remove that red background in vb.net.actually i want to make a system so that i can choose any color as transparency key for swf like in tv channels logos.
how you can get image transparency to come through in Visual Basic? Because if you try to put an image with some transparent sections on it on a form, the transparency turns into the form background colour (Though you could change the background image to whatever you want displayed under the image, but that's not the point) and basically I can't find any way to do irregular transparencies.
Alright, that's not very simple. I'll try to give an example:
You have an animated GIF of...say...fireworks. And it has a transparent background. Now say you have a few labels with text in them. When you draw the picturebox over the labels, the text in the labels is covered by the background of the fireworks, even though it's transparent. You can't see the labels. You want to see the fireworks exploding over the text
I can't see any way of getting around this, other than doing it in another program and putting the text and fireworks into one PictureBox. but it would be so convenient if it could work in Visual Basic, because you can control the text the in the labels and keep the animated "fireworks" exploding at the same time without using multiple animated images.
Is it possible to have transparency on a form but not on a button on the form?I know transparency can be controlled for the form in properties (VB 2005), but how can we isolate the button from being affected?
Right now I currently have an array of pictureboxes, and over them I want another large picturebox that has a sort of transparent fog effect. I created a png with this and made sure to save the alpha transparency, however when the picturebox shows up, you are not able to see underneath it. Is there anyway to fix this without using the GDI instead of pictureboxes? Because of the way the program is set up, I think GDI would be too slow for my purposes.
The 1st problem: I set the transparency key to a color and then set the forms background color to that color, and then set the background image to an image with rounded edges to give my form rounded edged. But the corners look VERY jagged.
The 2nd problem: Is there a way to make a form appear in the lower right corner above the task bar? Kind of like Avasts virus database definition update window.
Ive been on the same thing for the past seven hours now. Im trying to ether get the MDI child form title-bar-less in maximized mode, or now, get the transparency working to where the MDI child has transparency. ) This is for a home automation system im working on. major alpha stages. Hardware control works ;) but this stupid GUI is kicking my butt. So three options i have. In maximize mode on the MDI child remove the title bar, or remove the parents scroll bar so i can make the MDI child the size of the parents MDI window, or make the MDI child transparency work. Im posting a screen shot to show you what im talking about.
