Is what I want to do is take those image urls and somehow feed them into a datagridview, so that the user can scroll through the images and choose the right one.

.net - Specifying A Unique Control Name When Adding At Runtime (like The VS IDE)?
Apr 14, 2010I have a basic IDE for a user control i am building. It allows me to add labels to a panel and move them around, like a very basic form designer. When I add the controls to the panel at runtime, I'd like to give the control a unique name string like how the VS IDE tracks the controls it already has and adds an extra number when it creates the default control name. I have tried checking the controls collection each time a new control is added, but wasnt sure if there was a good string comparison method to return a name with a unique number on the end that hasn't been used yet.

Mar 10, 2010i am creating a table in vb.net code (htmltable) with htmltablerows and htmltablecell. I gave on image control but thatr control cant have the .imageurl property, which i need cause i have a handler image.ashx which brings image from the database.
heres' the code -

Runtime Picturebox.image Update From A Control Owned Imagelist.image
Feb 1, 2012I'm trying to update pictures boxes with images of controls stored in an imagelist owned by a control. The images stored in the control.imagelist do not showup in the picturebox. I am developing a windows forms application in Visual Studio 2010 Professional that connects to a remote database (MS sqlServer 2008 R2).To speed up development, I configured a DataSource and used the data objects associated with it. In VB6,
the data source could be assigned to the data objects during runtime using a variety of different runtime database connections, ODBC, ADO, ...
I have been unable to find a similar method with the VS2010 Visual Basic DataSource and underlying TableAdapter, BindingSource, BindingNavigator, down to the individual ComboBox and assorted other bound controls. It's convenient to have the integration, but I've got different users with different permissions, The long and short is that I'd like to be able to assign the data source during runtime operation, at least to the connection string level.
DataGridView, Add Unique Gradient To Each Row
Apr 22, 2010I like to add a gradient brush to each row of my datagridview. I like to change the gradient colors for each row independently depending of some cell values in the row.
I know how to add a solid background color to each, cell, row, column etc. but I do not know how to add a gradient brush to each row individualy.
I need to fill the datagridview with values, the datagridview is disconnected from any database or other data source. After filling the datagridview, I want to step trough each row, find my key values, decide the gradient colors and then add the gradient to the row.
I like to do something similar to what I now do with a background color:

VS 2010 Generate Image Path From Unique Name, What To Do With Invalid Chars
Apr 15, 2010I'm creating a radio streaming application, which plays a live stream from various radio stations in a small 'gadget' like application.
The user can add his own custom radio stations, by supplying a Name, a StreamUrl and, optionally, an Image that represents a logo or something of that radio station.The logo will be drawn on the main form when that station is selected.
I need to be able to save these custom stations, and I think it makes sense to use an XML file, which could then look something like this

Before I added the support for images, this worked fine, how to store the images. I want the user to be able to select any image from his harddrive, but I don't want to force him to keep that image in the same location afterwards. So I can't rely on the path that he selected. Instead, I want to simply load the image from the path he selected, and then save it somewhere else.
I am storing the XML file in the common application data path which I think is a good place for the images too.The problem is, how to determine a name for the images? I will always have just one image per custom radio station, so it makes sense to me to simply have one Images folder that holds all images, with a unique name.I can see two solutions:
1. Generate a random filename for every image
2. Use the Name of the radio station as the image name
For option 1, I suppose I could just create a string of 16 random characters and call that the filename. The problem of course is that there is no guarantee that I will get a unique filename. Yes, the chances of generating the same name twice randomly are very tiny, but it's still possible, and I just don't like that. How can I ensure that my random filename is unique? I suppose I could always drop the whole thing in a While loop that continues when the new filename already exists, but there must be a better way... Is there nothing in the framework that allows me to generate a unique random filename, in a directory of my choice (so not in the Temp directory...)
I like option 2 much better. The Name of a radio station is unique (there can't be two stations with the same name), so I don't have to worry about filenames conflicting. The problem with this approach is that there are no restrictions on the name. There's nothing stopping the user from naming their custom station "Radio~/aij!""_.fe" or something like that, which is obviously not a valid filename... So, I will have to do 'something' to generate a valid filename from the station name. I could simply remove all non-valid path characters from the name, but then I am no longer guaranteed a unique filename... Suppose there's two stations, one called "Radio/1" and one "Radio1", then after removing the invalid "/" character, the names will be the same and so I will generate the same image path for both....

Now, I would like to add text to one of them, but I'm not sure how. I thought by setting .Name I would simply be able to write something like lbl4.text ="A". But, of course, because the Label has not been created yet, this is not possible.
Also, I'm not even sure if .Name is working the way I think it is. I was hoping that it would name each Label consecutively: lbl1, lbl2, lbl3, lbl4...etc.
Am I naming the Labels properly? And how would I add text to one of these Labels?

Here you go with an example.
if my dgv is filled with time values such as 3:42:10 AM 4:43:17 PM etc..I need to compare all the cell values to 5:00:00 PM. greater than condition. I need to highlight only the values which are greater than 5:00:00 PM but less than 3:30:00 AM.

Apr 29, 2010I'm current in college and working on some computing coursework and putting the finishing touches on it when i stumbled across a bit of a problem.I'm trying to compare two cells in a database and i use datagridview to display the database in my form. The database is created by sql commands within my actual program if that makes any difference. What i have created for my coursework is a program that manages the stock and such for a small music shop and in the stock table im trying to compare values in two different collumns, but in the same rows. I need it to display a message box in the event that the value in the one cell is less than the other, which is basically checking if the stock for a certain CD has fallen below the reorder level.
