I am trying to set the focus in a datagridview's cell after the user enters some data and tries to tab out of the cell. I can't seem to get the focus in the cell they just edited. I can change the background color, but the focus goes to the next field in the grid. I am trying to do this in the _CellValidating event. Here is my code :
Private Sub dgvFish_CellValidating(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellValidatingEventArgs) Handles dgvFish.CellValidating
[Code]....
The function CheckSampleNumber() takes the value of the cell just entered, and checks to see if it has been entered either in the current grid, OR in the database.
I am having trouble setting the focus to a particular cell in datagridview.
I have a timetable and on initialisation of the program, it compares the time in the datagridview with the current time. If the time has passed, the row is displayed in grey, if not then it is shown in black. I then want to scroll through the datagridview to focus on the first black line.
Here is the
-----------------------------------------------------------
Private Sub DataGridView1_CellFormatting(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellFormattingEventArgs) Handles DataGridView1.CellFormatting
[Code]....
"An unhandled exception of type 'System.StackOverflowException' occurred in mscorlib.dll" with the note about infinite recursion.
What have I done wrong and how do I scroll through to automatically set the focus?
I want to set Color to specific cell in DataGridView as in this code , but didn't accept BackColor property.
Form1.DataGridView1.CurrentRow.Cells(3)......BackColor
I'm having trouble with setting a datagridview's cell in edit mode, or rather, to let the user type some input on load of a form (as in Excel or the like).
This is my code (after the dgv has been filled):
dgvTentander.EditMode = DataGridViewEditMode.EditProgrammatically
'(or dgvTentander.EditMode = DataGridViewEditMode.EditOnEnter)
dgvMyDGV.CurrentCell = dgvMYDGV.Rows(lastrow).Cells(TeCOL_Quant)
dgvMYDGV.BeginEdit(True)
The code correctly indicates that the cell is selected, and when the page is loaded I can still se the cell selected, but the cursor doesn't appear and nothing happens when I type.
Is it possible to set a unique image for a particulur cell in a datagridvew at runtime?
View 3 RepliesI have a DGV I am working on, and I have many columns.
For example I have Columns colIsDayOff (Checkbox), colStartTime(Time), colEndTime(Time)
What I need to do is if when my DGV loads the data if colIsDayOff is checked, then make the value of the Start and End time columns blank, invisible, or something.
I am having problem setting focus on specific cell in my Datagridview1 . On Form1 when clicking on cell 3 in any row, I am callig a Dialog1. However, when done working with it, and closing the Dialog1, the focus returns to cell 3 in my Datagridview1 . I like to set the focus on the next cell(4) making it the current cell.
I have tryed :
DataGridView1.SelectionMode = DataGridViewSelectionMode.CellSelect
DataGridView1.CurrentCell = DataGridView1.Item(4, e.RowIndex)
DataGridView1.CurrentCell = DataGridView1.CurrentRow.Cells(4)
And few other things, I am always getting this exception: Operation is not valid because it results in a reentrant call to the SetCurrentCellAddressCore function.
I am trying to design a table type structure that contains rows and cells. I intend the cell class to have a value property. I'm trying to work out how I can create a value that can return some defined different types e.g integer, single, date, string. I'd like the cell value to be strongly typed, but I am unsure how best to get this working.
My thinking in code so far:
Public Class Cell
Private _value as object
Public Property Value as Object // How can I define this so that it return a Type
Get // e.g. integer, string, etc
Return _value
[Code] .....
Have this code so that when a checkbox in a column of my datagridview is checked, then the corresponding cell in column 2 (of the same row the check box is in) will turn blue with font color white.
[code]...
I'd also like to add a line so that as well as the cell going blue, the bottom border of the cell disappears, so cellborderstyle = none.
I have a DataGridView with several columns. One column is a TextBox column named "Status". This column can only show one of three values: 'Final', 'Ready', or 'No Reportable'. I want to have some code that would turn the TextBox cell into a ComboBox cell when the user left-clicks on the cell to allow the user to choose one of these three options. When the user clicks elsewhere or the cell loses focus I want the cell to change back to a TextBox cell.
Here is what I have so far, but the code throws an exception indicated below Plus, I don't think the code would remove the combobox when the cell loses focus.
Exception: "Provided cell does not belong to this DataGridView control."
Private Sub dgvCalculatedResults_MouseDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles dgvCalculatedResults.MouseDown
Dim ht As DataGridView.HitTestInfo = Me.dgvCalculatedResults.HitTest(e.X, e.Y)
[Code].....
Is it possible to disable cursor moving from cell to cell in datagridview?

how do i stop them from adding more than 2 decimal places?
Setting Focus in particular cell of a datagrid
I have two datagrids in my form. I want to set focus to the particular cell of that datagrid. Result of one datagrid is to be displayed in the other one.
I have set my datasource on my datagridview to be a subset of rows as follows:
dg.DataSource = myDataSet.testTable.Select("id=" & id)
But I get a runtime error that Operator '=' is not defined for types 'Object' and '1-dimensional array of DataRow' There should be an easy way to do this that doesn't involve creating new tables, etc.
Is it possible to create a new My.Setting item and value at runtime or does the setting already have to created? I'd like create new settings and delete settings.
View 1 RepliesI programatically / runtime created combobox and bind it to a datasource but can not set its default value. Since I am using the Handler of SelectedValueChanged, this is causing the program to mis-fire. Here is the code I am using.
Public WithEvents T_combo as ComboBox
'dictionary holds data to use in other parts of program
Dim T_Dict As New Dictionary(Of String, String)
[Code].....
I am kind of an old 'newbee' at this, so bear with me for a moment. I am developing a windows forms application in Visual Studio 2010 Professional that connects to a remote database (MS sqlServer 2008 R2).To speed up development, I configured a DataSource and used the data objects associated with it. In VB6,
the data source could be assigned to the data objects during runtime using a variety of different runtime database connections, ODBC, ADO, ...
I have been unable to find a similar method with the VS2010 Visual Basic DataSource and underlying TableAdapter, BindingSource, BindingNavigator, down to the individual ComboBox and assorted other bound controls. It's convenient to have the integration, but I've got different users with different permissions, The long and short is that I'd like to be able to assign the data source during runtime operation, at least to the connection string level.

1) Yes - checkbox (boolean)and
2) Received Date - textbox (DateTime)..
What I want to do at run time is that when a user Checks the Yes checkbox Received Date is populated with the current Datetime.
In cellEndEdit event I need current cell editedFormatedvalue ( well it is done) now my question is can we get the old value of the cell in this event or have to handle some other event for this means let I have a cell in which current value is abc and when I edit it it become def now I want to get both the values in cell end edit event ( or any else ) but finally I have to perform task on cellendedit
View 1 RepliesI have a datagridview and it has 8 columns as textboxcolumns. I am handling their cell validation with cellValidating event.
My question is that if cell validation fails for 3rd column of the datagridview then the focus should move from 3rd column to 1st column of the datagridview. How can i do this?
I have tried datagridview.column(0).selected = true, when validation for 3rd column fails, but this is not working. Focus still moves to the next cell. I can stop the focus to the current cell with e.cancel=true but i want it to move to the very first cell of the datagridview.

View 13 Replieshave a problem in setting hyperlink text property from database at runtime....Iam struggling to connect the database values to dynamic hyperlinks.
View 7 RepliesI've added some Labels to a form at runtime using this
vb.net
Dim x As Integer = 25
For i As Integer = 1 To word.Length
[Code]....
Now, I would like to add text to one of them, but I'm not sure how. I thought by setting .Name I would simply be able to write something like lbl4.text ="A". But, of course, because the Label has not been created yet, this is not possible.
Also, I'm not even sure if .Name is working the way I think it is. I was hoping that it would name each Label consecutively: lbl1, lbl2, lbl3, lbl4...etc.
Am I naming the Labels properly? And how would I add text to one of these Labels?
I am developing a point of sale for a buddy.The system it will be on will be running nothing but this application. The system SHOULD always stay at 1024, 768 but i like to plan for problems.What I would like to do is on form_load change to 1024, 768. On exit, (for learning sake on my end) I would like to have it set back to the default.
View 6 Repliesi am writing a VB front end (VS 2008 .NET 3.5) to a data loading program that involves moving the contents of CSV flat files into SQL Server 2005 staging tables. I have had some experience with DTS in SQL 2000 so I decided to use SSIS packages to load the CSV data. Creating the packages in BIDS worked fine for the development environment where I hard-coded the Connections and file paths. The problem arises when I will release this program to 30 different sites that do not have SQL Server admins to help changing the configuration.
I have a SQL table in which I will put all the necessary path information and I can pull that into the VB program on startup. I need to see an example of how I can set the properties from VB once the package is instantiated and opened.Here is an example of where I plan to set those properties and run the packages.
Private Function RunPackages() As Boolean
Try
Dim oApp As New Application
Dim oPackage As New Package
[code]....
Even though I am using a configuration file in the example, I am finding it difficult to edit the configuration files for each site. I see that there are methods and properties exposed for the oPackage instance. However, I can't find a good reference for the Class model to use as a guideline. All the examples expect packages to be run and configured with SQL Server and BIDS. direct manipulation of package properties in VB or C#?I am now considering using the old standby SQL Bulk Insert. It almost appears as if the Data Tasks are just wrappers for the Bulk Insert operation. Furthermore we have several sites still using SQL Server 2000. With the economy the way it is, most of those sites do not want to spend ANY extra money upgrading to SQL 2005 or 2008.
However, having a good resource to learn how to manipulate SSIS packages from the CLR would be very helpful. I have heard that in SQL 2008 things have changed even more. It is maddeneing that once I learn a "new" Microsoft technology it seems to be discarded by MS in their next release in favor of a "better" alternative.
How I can set a Textbox or the report header title programmatically at runtime?
Like as in a form - Me.text = "Sales Report"
Depending on how I query the report I'd like to give the report a descriptive report name.
I have done some searching, but am still having trouble trying to set the browsable attribute of property to false at runtime in order to hide in the properties grid control (based on certain conditions).
