Site Not Loading Properly In IE 8 For First Few Seconds

Nov 4, 2009

I am using ASP.NET 3.5 and we are having a problem with our website www.s1.com

Also go to other links in the page if you dont see it on the home page.

When you open the site in IE 8 the top menu at first gets displayed like this.

And then the rest of the website loads. What can this be? Maybe a setting on the Server or in IIS?

Loading File Info Properly?

Dec 27, 2009

I have setup a file that is comma delimited:

{object name,text,object name,text...}

I have loaded the file, split the delimited text into to separate arrays. One array is for the' object name', the other for its corresponding text. The text is no issue. My issue is that the 'object name' would look something like "form1.label1, form1.label2..." This loads fine, but I can not figure out how to get the 'object name' to be used as an object.I dimensioned the array for 'object name' as an object, but this won't work:

objectname(i).text = "..."

Looking at the values of the 'object name' array, after each listing it says {string}I need this to work this way because the file is loaded with the idea that it could be in any order, longer or shorter then another, etcetera.

VS 2005 AcroPDF Not Loading Properly?

Nov 11, 2009

I have a desktop application that shows a list of pdfs, and when the user selects one it shows it to him/her. I use the AcroPDF control for this, and it seems to work, but if the user goes back and forth between viewing the file and viewing the list, then the control randomly decides not to show the file (showing a blank page instead).

VS 2008 - Threaded Ping - Click Another Site While Its Still Pinging Them It Doesn't Wait Before It Switches Site

Feb 9, 2010

Ive got an app that holds a list of site we have, At each site there are a few devices. The idea is when they click on a site all the details for the site are loaded and then a second thread sits and pings each device to see if its live. Im trying to do this in a seperate thread so if they click another site while its still pinging them it doesn't wait before it switches site. This all seems to be workling fine except if you click through the sites quickly, when you do that it will eventually come up with

Internet Explorer - User Click A Command Button To Open IE To A Financial WEB Site And Download Informaion From The Site?

May 19, 2011

I'm deploying a VB.Net app (VS 2010 Pro) that requiers the user click a command button to open IE to a financial WEB site and download informaion from the site. The app works fine in every detail when installed on the development computer. But, on the target computer when the command button is clicked an unhandled exception occurs which says: System.IO. FileNotFoundException:File Not found. My code behind the button is Shell("C:Program Files (x86)Internet Exploreriexplore.exe www,fidelity.com",AppWinStyle.NormalFocus)

This works fine on the development computer. Do I need a way to code this as a relative path? If so,can you tell me how this is done?Throughout the app I have written relative paths to needed files using paths like (Open(Environment. GEtFolderPath (Environment. SpecialFoldder.Desktop) + "File Name). They all work fine when deployed.

Label Staging Site To Prevent It From Being Used As If It Were The Production Site

May 18, 2012

I'm being asked to maintain several internal-only web apps for my company. For testing, after making my changes, I've created some staging sites which make use of separate databases. As such, if my users were to mistakenly use this site as if it were the production site, they may enter important data and wonder where it "disappeared" to thinking it was the production server.

I'd like to create a big banner of some sort across the top of the staging site (which ONLY appears on the staging site) to remind my users that they are on the test site. I'd like recommendations on the best way to do this, with the following considerations:

IDE: Visual Studio 2008
Server: Windows 2003 with IIS 6
Language: VB.NET 2.0

How To Properly Open A Image Using Bitmap Class And Dispose It Properly

Jun 22, 2010

I am looking for a code snippet which opens a image, creates a clone of this bitmap in memory disposes this opened image so that all handles are closed.

Usually we can open a bitmap using this[code...]

the following code however keeps the Image File locked until the application is running, any suggestions how to dispose it properly. (So that no handle is left open )

Things i already tried: use dispose method of bitmap <= doesnt work (need to write implementation)
Using Block also doesnt work.

Adding A New Row Take 32 Seconds?

Jun 2, 2011

I would be very grateful of any insight/resolution of the following issue I need to overcome.Using VS/VB2008 Pro/SQLExpress - all running on XP, I am building a WinForm Application (a Quotation application for Landscape Designers).48 Bound controls on my form work perfectly with DataSet and Tables when Updating any user changes to controls on the form to variables that determine price/cost of work being quoted for - providing the DataSet has already got values in it; Delete also works fine. However, although the "AddNew" (on form's BindingNavigator) works, it takes 30 - 35 seconds to add a new row. Table contains 10 rows and 45 columns. This is unacceptable and despite most of this afternoon reading forums, searches etc, I have failed to find a solution to an issue that I cannot believe appears to be so infrequent. Clearly, it is something I am doing or not doing.

I have searched via Google, crawled over MSDN pages, read/searched some of the standard textbooks on VB 2008 and looked (again) at Beth Massi's Data-related Forms over Data video series. I have re-checked the properties for the TableAdapter/Manager on my Form. I have used the wizards to create the necessary Select etc clauses. All runs as required except when user needs to add a new row (aka "New Quotation")

Converting Seconds Into HH:MM:SS?

Apr 3, 2010

I'm currently coding a small app, and I got sort of stuck when I had to convert from seconds to HH:MM:SS. This is the "solution" I came up with so far, but there's a small problem with it.

Code:
Public Class Form1
'Accept amount of seconds
Public seconds As Integer

[Code]....

The code works fine if the amount of seconds is 3600 (1 hour) and under, but if its above, it doesn't really work.

Calculate Integer As Seconds?

Mar 2, 2011

I have intger that represent time, but are not time values. So I have a MIN as int = 5 and SEC as int = 25. And I want to subtract 30 from SEC.

In normal math I would get -5. But this is time, so my MIN should be 4 and SEC be 55. Is there a formula for this already?

I know it would be easier if I was using DateTime, but that is not a option. I'm locked into using integers.
