I have a table with 3 rows and two columns (sid and number1). How can i bring a specific row with the SELECT? I use a textbox to give a criteria (sid). I guess it would be - SELECT number1 FROM Table2 WHERE sid = textbox1.text. How to pass that row into a dataset?
I have a gridview loaded with data from my database and a gridview swapping function which after exchanging data between rows with a column call "Priority", I want to save these changes back to my database. Only the "Priority" column value will be change, how do I update only that Column of my dataset table to my SQL database?
After much convincing by other people, I have finally started trying to use ADO.NET instead of ADODB. Unfortunately, my lack of knowledge regarding these objects has left me broken in one area. I tried converting the area where I am checking for duplicate records to use ADO.NET by checking if a student filling out a form enters the same first name, last name, and program or major as another record in the database as per my instructions. Unfortunately, in the following code snippet, it is not behaving how I thought it should and I am unable to diagnose exactly where the problem might be just yet.
Here is the code in question:
Try Dim orion As New SqlConnection(strConn) Dim sqlCmd As System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand = New System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand(query, orion)
[Code]...
I probably should have mentioned also that it never flags an error despite there being 'duplicate' records in the database at this point.
I have a dataset (WW1Dataset) with one data table(WW1).(database used in an access database) I'm trying to filter the dataset e.g a user wants to filter by a chosen surname (SurnameTextBox.text) so the datset is filtered to display only those records wherethe surname column in the dataset matches SurnameTextBox.text.
In a web applicaion using vb.net as the code behind. I have created a DataSet (hdar) in the designer with a data table and table adapter (AccessRequests). I am trying to add a row to the database table using datatable.add row
I have a problem saving a dataset which contains rows that i have imported from another dataset. i can successfully view the imported rows in a gridview but i cannot commit the rows back to the database.
At moment iam getting information back by fireing a command to an API function of a program (http) after that it gives me databack and i transfer that data in a dataset. so far so good its working great.
But now i want to have specific data out of that dataset....
i know the rows got names inside the DS one is ID NAME and TYPE
What i want to know is there a way to get TYPE out of the Dataset WHERE name is .... (does not mather what name)
I have finally taken the plunge and am trying to get my head around VB 2010 after years of playing with VB6. I am using the free VB 2010 Express edition to get me started I am not an acomplished programmer in VB6 - being totally self taught from books, files , forums like this and internet searches so I am finding the transition to .NET syntax very painfull. Unfortunately,
I'm just startet to work with datasets, I have configurated an SQL server 2008 to host my databases. the server works fine also over the internet. I am making some SQL test applications, to learn how to use SQL and datagridview.my problem is how can i select a specific cell in my dataset and datagridview. When i know the name of the column and the row that holds the specific cell that i want to select by click on a button
my datagrid look like this name | price | color | company | left ______________________________
I know this has to be a very simple answer but I seem to be overlooking it. I have an Access database that I have conected to and have created a DataSet. The DataSet consists of one table with several rows and a bunch of columns. What I am trying to do is get the data for one specific row and column so that I can use this data is some calculations. I can position the row if I need to but I can't figure out how to get the data in the specific column I need.
My application will start (dataset filtered by username/date) and if it's the first time the user has used it today it will be a blank entry form because there is no record for today created. The user can just type data into the blank form and close it. On the form closing event I want it to run a tableadapter.insert(username, date, x,x,x).
If it starts a second time it will load showing today's entry because today's date was inserted previously when they closed the form. So this time when they close the form I want the form closing event to just run a tableadapter.updateall(dataset) command. I need some help with my form closing event...
I'm trying to write to a specific cell located in the datatable, which is from dataset. I know that it would be datagridview1.rows(xx).columns(xx).value=(""). But how to do it in a datatable
Public Class Form1 Dim ds As New DataSet1 Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim TestValue As String = "test value" [Code] .....
The following code above does write to column 3 row 1, but if you say .rows(1), i get "there is no row at position 1". So, in summary if I have 7 columns, and I created a second row I want to write to column 3 and the 2nd row.
I have two datatables with similar structures that I want to make one existing row to be updated from another datatable.
For example, "tableA" has three columns: "one", "two", and "three"; with "one" being the primary key...
and "tableB" has three columns as well: "one", "two", and "three"; with "one" being the primary key.
Say there is a row on tableA that is different than a row on tableB (with a matching primary key). What I wanted to do, as efficiently as possible, is to take the that row from tableB and replace the one on tableA so it'll be modified.
I'm not sure if there's an easier way of doing that instead of using loops for setting the row's items.
I created a SQL database using the migration tool.I am converting my access forms to VB.net (VS2008).I am wondering if I create a single dataset in studio to the database or do I create a dataset for each form (query)? I am trying to determine what the best solution is. Many of my forms have drop downs that are populated using queries from tables.
I had a dataSet which link to a database. I need to add one field inside the database, After adding the field, how can I update and link it to the dataSet?
HTML Dim da As New OleDbDataAdapter("Select * From " & Me.OpenFileDialog1.SafeFileName & "", con) Dim cb As New OleDb.OleDbCommandBuilder(da) Dim foundRow() As Data.DataRow foundRow = ds.Tables("dataset").Select("OffMarketDate = '#4/6/1963#'")
I am using VB 2008 frountend & Access Databases for my backend. When i make changes to Database such as Change In Field Name, Change In Data Type, Change In field size Addition of new Fields, Deletion of old fields, ReOrdering fields names I use to reconfigure DataAdapter in dataset to take those changes in effect, however some changes took place where some other doesn't.get those changes in effect in right order.
If i make changes to tables in a dataset, then want to save those changes to the actual database, how do i do this? I know that the dataset is just an "in house" virtual copy of the real database. I believe i need to use a commandbuilder but is there an easy way to do it, other then using an sql statement? If i spent the time making the changes to the dataset, why redo the work on the actual table? here's what i have, after the datasets have been changed:
I just want to ask. Using getChanges method in vb.net only get the changes on the dataset not on the table in database?for example I fill a dataset from a table in database. So there is a table in my dataset. There has been a changed in my table in database for example an added row.So there is no way in my dataset to determine this change because it has filled the original data. How can I determine the changes in my database table?
My Visual Basic 2008 can insert a new row to a dataset, but the dataset does not insert new rows into the actual Access 2007 database. The database remains unchanged and there are no error messages. How can the dataset write the new row to the database? [code]
So I'm not familiar with much vb code but I was hoping someone my spell out something pretty generic as far as updating a database. I'm pretty sure I've successfully edited rows but when i'm using my database update i get an error, probably just incorrect syntax. This is what I have so far...
