Speed Up Item Adding To List?

Apr 25, 2012I've got a TCP Listener running on a separate thread. I want to have it log the incoming and outgoing messages in a list on the form instead of in message boxes. I've been reading about multiple threads, and I know there's something extra I need to do because form controls are not thread safe.
Unfortunately I've tried several tutorials on delegates and invoking but it still doesn't seem to insert the log items to the list. I even spent $60 on this Mastering Visual Basic 2010 book to "Build Rich Client and Web Applications with Visual Basic", but there isn't a single chapter on how to handle multiple threads.
Possible To Make List Box Item Height For Item Depending On Amount Of Lines That Item Contains?
Jan 1, 2012I have a list box on the form which functions as a copy/paste. When you copy something, it is automatically added to the list box as a "clipboard helper". Here is the problem,however: if the text is more than 1 line, the list box does not show all the text.It ends up looking messy.So getting back to my question, is it possible to make the list box item height for an item depending on the amount of lines that item contains?This is a one line sentence in the list box and should take up one line.This is a multi line sentence in the list box and should take up two lines for item height.

Feb 12, 2011I'm having some difficulty with a sorted & grouped listbox in WPF vb.net 3.5 that has an items source bound to an ObservableCollection.
What I want to be able to do is to retrieve a piece of data from the ObservableCollection items source depending on what item in the listbox the user has selected.I've almost got it working but because the listbox is sorted it does not match the index of the items source.

As I previously mentioned, because the lstBox is sorted and also grouped the index's don't match up.Does anyone know how I can get the correct information I want from the List Source depending on the selected item in the list box?

I want to select the first option from the first listbox and I want to put it into another listbox along with the price of that item on the same line in the listbox. I can't seem to figure out how to that.

Add To A Combobox A List Of Item (not Every Item) In A Txt Located On A Server
Feb 13, 2011my program downloads into a combobox every item(line) that is in a text file located on a server.
Every line in the text file ends with "a)" or with "g)".
Now I just want to make 3 radio buttons:
- one that will allow the download in the combobox only the item ending with "g)"
- one that will allow the download in the combobox only the item ending with "a)"
- one that will allow the download in the combobox of both (I already know how to do).
How can I do so?
To download the entire list in the combobox I do:

Word 2007 Adding Adding Values To Combo List Box
Jun 7, 2011I am trying to create a simple Word doc that when the user presses the button it takes the information in the boxes and tosses it into a template style paragraph. But my issue is that I have two combo list boxes as seen in the picture. I want to have two values in the drop down list as seen in the labels next to them but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do this in Word 2007. In Visual Studio this is much easier but I am work and need to snap this out for the folks at work. Is there an option that I can choose in the properties where I type in the values for each drop down or do I have to add them in at run time?

I have 8 ImageMaps in my webform Estimator.aspx.Each ImageMap represents a car part (Front Bumper, Rear Bumper, Mirror, Hood, Sunroof, DoorShell, Headlights, Tail lights) and I have a dropdownlist ddlChosenParts. When the user clicks on any of the 8 ImageMaps, I add the PostBackValue to the dropdownlist ddlChosenParts.The problem is that if the user clicks on the same ImageMap twice, the PostBackValue is added twice.I want to check if ddlChosenParts contains the ImageMap's PostBackValue and if it already contains it, do not add it again. That means that if the user clicks more than once on the same ImageMap, it's PostBackValue is only added once in ddlChosenParts.I have this code but i'm getting an error: Value of Type String cannot be converted to ListItem. Oct 16, 2011I have an Access database with a Parts table. I'm using tableadapters in my project. A datagridview on my form is filled manually in code. One column of the DGV contains a columntype of combobox. I've got a bindingsource on my form whose source is the Parts tableadapter. The combobox column is tied to the bindingsource and is displaying fldDescription.
The part descriptions can be changed by the users, but the original part description is saved in another table that is used to fill the grid. If part "widget" gets changed to "widget, large" I can no longer display "widget" in the combobox of the grid. I need to know how to be able to add it to the bindingsource so I can display it in the combobox. I don't want it saved to the Parts table though.
