Looking For Strange Algorithm For Frequency Rate Appearance Of An Object?
Oct 7, 2010I've been racking my brain lately to try and come up with an algorithm to set a frequency rate at which an object may appear.
This best way I can think to describe a "for instance" is gonna sound nerdy but here goes.
Say I have a subclass that is just one of many on a Large class, kinda like spades in a deck of cards. However I dont specifically want 13 spades in my deck, I want to randomly generate this deck with a random chance of spade appearances. but beyond that, i want to give each sub-subclass, like a jack of spades, a "Frequency number", that upon generation of this main class (or deck in this example) will use random in combination with this "frequency rating" (0-100) to place the sub-sub class and even the sub classes in place.So as for my example, a 2 of spades might have a high freq like 90 and thus showed up 15 times in my deck, while the jack, with a rate of say 20, only showed up once or twice in my deck.

Get Rid Of All Strange Characters That Can't Get Into Mysql From A String?

In mysql this character 💀 cause error Incorrect string value: 'xF0x9Fx92x80'
Samples of these characters are from [URL]
Say I want to analyze data from the web and found some strange character
how to remove this character 💀 ??
The occurance is rare.
In fact, how to know all characters that may be problematic for mysql and remove that? I am not saying escapeable characers. I am saying characters that are neither numeric, alphabeth, or chinese scripts, or punctuation. Characters that's totally bizarre.
How do I get rid of that from a string?
Split A String With <CR><LF> In It Produces Strange Results?

Jun 27, 2012I have built a DataTable from my database. Then I am looping through the rows and trying to access a string, however the value is being returned as each character in the string.

The Trap_Code values are two or three letter strings, the returned value is each letter once at a time. The loop seems to cycle through the individual characters of the string as an array rather than display the entire value, which is what I was hoping for.

Updates: I got the code to build by following the help received here, and then I had forgot the As Return Type (which got me a MarshalDirectiveException PInvokeRestriction). Then I had an assertion failure inside my DLL, which lead to an SEHException. Once fixed, this works BEAUTIFULLY. There are newsgroups where people are saying this can not be done, that VB only loads managed dll assemblies (which I guess is the normal thing most VB users are used to).

Feb 6, 2012I am developping an app which talks across a network and will eventually be used to read in a text file (on the client) and transfer it to the server. Currently, the server and client succesfully connect to each other using the Tcplistener/Tcpclient classes. I am now trying to send some data across the network using the networkstream class, which I have implemented.Currently for testing purposes i am sending a char array which contains the characters "hello" which succesfully sends and outputs to console on the server. Although, "hello" is followed by a long list of whitespaces. I have tried converting this to a string array on the server and/or client and using the string.Trim() function (amongst trying many other things over the past couple of hours) although the output remains the same.
