String Formatted Using String.Format Not Displaying In Print Preview?
Nov 29, 2011
I'm trying to create a print function with a corresponding print preview. For some reason, any string I create with String.Format will NOT show up on the print preview! Use the code snippet below as an example:
Dim strTemp As String
strTemp = String.Format("{0, 210} {1, 75} {2, 51} {3, 200} ",
"NAME", "PRICE", "QUANTITY", "DESCRIPTION")
I need to take a string formatted like '010711' (DDMMYY) and put it into format '01-Jul-11'. Ive thought about doing something like string.toArray and then having some conditionals that format from there but am looking for an easier way.
In my windows project i have a print preview control . it displays text based on my requirement.my project contains data should be printed in 2 pages. But in my print preview control showing one page at a time. After clicking print preview button again
The reason this is being done is at this point we have no idea what the column contains. However, if the formatter is "{0:MM/dd/yyyy}" and the DataRow("ColumnINeed") is an integer containing 42, String.Format is returning: MM/dd/yyyy In this situation I need it to throw an exception instead of returning nonsense. Is there anyway to make String.Format throw an exception if the object does not match what the format string is expecting?
So I need a format string to pass to String.Format that would "move" the decimal point.I can't perform any math operations before doing the String.Format, so it has to work right off the bat.Basically I'm emulating a formatting string from a proprietary server. In it if I say:
"MR2"
for the value:
12345
The result is:
123.45
I'm close with this, but it's not spot on:
String.Format("{0:#0.##}", 12345)
an extra, but not necessary... there is also MR2Z, which moves the decimal 2 left, but if the value is 0 "" is returned.
This is what it gives me: 20299901 14415.58E+14415.58E+ It should be more like this: 20299901 2.88462E-1 1.45098E+4 nevermind the difference in the number values. the formatting is what I want.
I have a field that I display via: String.Format({0:c},amount) This produces the string "$28.28" However, when I try to convert back to a decimal amount, I get an incorrect format exception: amount = Decimal.Parse(amount.Text, NumberStyles.Currency) I also tried it with NumberStyles.AllowCurrencySymbol with the same results. I verified that the value in amount.Text is "$28.28". Am I missing something? Shouldn't these two operations use the same currency symbol and formats?
The format I need is a group of numbers in a text file and it looks like this and it will always look like this:xxxx x xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx x xxxxxxxxxxx xxxx x
The problem is that it can be anywhere in a text file so I cannot search by a particular line.
How can I search for this type of string format in a text file?
I have a word document data been inserted into database as VarBinary(max) column. Now, i need to fetch this information and display in my aspx page directly.I am getting this value from database in Byte Array and try to convert that into string and add that string to a div.I am using the below two ways: In both the ways first i am getting them to a temp txt(in 1st way) and doc (in 2nd way) files and reading back those file I am using .net 2.0 frame work
Write Method:Writing data to temp file(either doc or txt based on the filepath which has filename) Eg: filepath: "c:temp.doc" Public Sub writeFileData(ByVal strFilePath As String, ByVal bytFileData() As Byte) Try
[code]....
Failure reasons: I am getting the output as some symbols, prob because the server is not able to read the format of the word content.how to read the word document data in binary data to a string.
This seems so simple, but I can't get the answer. I need to get the current time in an hh:mm:ss or sss military format. By military format, I mean that if it is past noon, the hour is the PM time plus 12 (1 PM is 13, 5 PM is 17). I found this bit of code:
[Code]...
It returns the hour in AM/PM format. That is, if it is 4 PM, it returns 04 rather than 16). I can't find documentation on the hh:mm:ss mask. In fact I can't find a simple discussion on how to make the time of day property return time in various formats. After 3 hours of futzing around,
I have looked around for awhile and have not seen anything yet. I was hoping someone came up with something by now that can guide me in the right direction. I have an rtf string pulled from my database. I was trying to find a way to display this rtf string formatted in silverlights richtextbox. From what I have read silverlights richtext stores formatted text as xaml and not true rtf. Has anyone found a work around?
I am looking for a vb.net library where I can insert data into an object and have it spit out a json formatted string, and also take the string in again to rebuild the object.I am not that concerned with mapping it to preexisting objects.I have searched around and every single library I've found either can't read the strings in again, interprets them as one long string instead of breaking them up into parts, or fails to work entirely (asp.net can't even find any public members).
I am trying to use string.format on a url to pass several values into the string. It's probably a simple error but I cannot get the following code to work. It doesn't even build the string.
Public Sub getStockData() Dim client As New WebClient() Dim url As String
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knows how to do these from a simple text box. i.e. 'TextBox1'.
I'm just learning VB and it's only a simple text editor but I can't find any good sites or posts that help me in understanding how to do it. These are not really covered in any of the 'beginner' books I have acquired either.
My instructor told us how to print documents and how to use databases. What the instructor did not mention is how to print or print a preview of records within a DatabaseDataSet. The book "Programming in Visual Basic 2010" does not explain how to print or do a print preview of Database Source records from within a form. The only thing I was told was to test the print document first before you try to do a print preview. Within a form I used a DataGridView to add, delete, and update the database. So now all I need to do is figure out how to print the updated records from the DataGridView and how to print a preview of the records within the DataGridView. So I hope my question is clear enough to give me assistance on how I can perform these two actions. Thanks this would be a great help, and since the class is online we can get assistance from any sources that we have.
I have this as code to run the program Process.Start(ListBox1.SelectedItem.ToString.Split(New String() {" "}, StringSplitOptions.None)(1))
Which used to work but then I added a "Preview image" function like this : (ListBox1.SelectedItem.ToString.Split(New String() {" Image:"}, StringSplitOptions.None)(1)) I now discovered that the first code is useless, because it selects everything after " " to run, including the "Image:"
This is how a listbox item is stored: Tomb Raider Level Editor - Original C:Program FilesTomb Raider - Level Editor omb4.exe Image:C:Program FilesTomb Raider - Level Editorload.bmp
As you can see it'll use this C:Program FilesTomb Raider - Level Editor omb4.exe Image:C:Program FilesTomb Raider - Level Editorload.bmp to run Is there any way I can make it choose the path from " " and when it finds "image:" it stops?
THe Print preview is showing all the pages , but it does not print them all, just one page. I know it has to do with the 'e.HasMorePages'. I dont know how to do this.[code
I've put a page long document into a richtextbox, thinking I could get rid of the cursor (or caret -- whatever it is when you click on it) but no luck. (I guess there is an API for this -- and it may come to that).
I am receiving this error message: "Input string was not in a correct format." on my ASP.net 2.0 VB project.
When looking at other posts with this error its obvious that each time it will be specific to the users' project. Therefore my main question is, is it possible to generate a more informative error message?
I am already in debug mode but it does not tell me in which string the problem lies. I am converting some strings to integers with "Cint" and have also tried the Integer.Parse() method to no avail.
