I have a module which will be responsible for parsing CSV data received from different user via a website interface, and I have to parse that CSV. I was considering to use, TextFieldParser for it.
But before I could implement I was considering what shall be a better approach...
Generating MemoryStream from data received, or initialising a StringReader from the same input string.
Under component services, a COM+ component is used by the company, right-clicking it and choosing 'Activation' tab will show the 'constructor string' that is used for DB server connection by all applications. How can I access it the simplest way possible?
I have a class library that contains a number of classes. I would like to dynamically create an instance of one of these classes, set its properties, and call a method.
Example:
Public Interface IExample Sub DoSomething() End Interface Public Class ExampleClass
I'm trying to setup a WCF web service to be consumed by JavaScript using JSON and jQuery.I've noticed that you can send JSON without a DataContract if the service method parameters match the naming structure of the JSON object:
I'm trying to get the price out (90.0) of this xml document but get it to work, i've tried using the xmlTextReader and the ReadElementString function but I guess I need to get the attribute. I then looked at using the GetAttribute function.
dim myCollection as new Specialized.StringCollection dim myFoundThings as new ArrayList dim index as Integer dim newResultMemberName as String
[code]....
This is part of some code that will run without user interaction once it's spinning away, and I need to create a unique object from some items found in a StringCollection, naming the objects using information found in the strings stored in that StringCollection.
I have a program that will download files from a company website given a list of links. The site requires authentication, and I do have code that will set the authentication cookie in the request header. I get the authentication cookie from a Perl script we have. What I would love to do is have my vb .net program get the authentication cookie based on my username and password. The perl script goes to the following link:
[URL]
The it reads the cookie out of the response. Here is the code I have, but my cookie count always comes back at zero. :(
Dim cookieJar As New Net.CookieContainer() Dim cookie As New Net.Cookie Dim req As Net.HttpWebRequest
I'm trying to pass a business object from one WinForm to another WinForm for modification, and then repopulate the text boxes, etc. on the first form with the updated values. However, it seems that the object values set in the second form are not "sticking" when the code control returns to the first form.Is there a way to view the memory location of an object in VB.NET? I want to first make sure that the object variable on the second form is pointing to the same memory address as the object on the first form. Then I can take it from there.
In a separate VB project, I passed a simple object to a second form, modified the values, and re-displayed the object's values on the first form. It worked fine. In my real app, I'm passing an object that is a property of another object, which may be why it isn't working.SOLUTION: The problem was that I was using a DeepCopy() function that I found to simplify copying the properties of one object to another. Removing that function and manually setting the values to the passed object on the second form (ex. obj.property1
I am creating some reports using object datasources.in my software the user can create a list of products specifying a code, the product name, the price and the vat rate (this last two attributes will be used as suggestions when the user will place the product inside an order). When a user creates an order he can place products within it by specifying for each product the quantity and he can also override the suggested price and the vat rate.So basically i have two models to represent the products:
ProductModel (used to define product name, product code and the default suggestion for price and vat rate)OrderProductModel (used to place products within an order, specify the quantity and override the default product suggestion for price and vat number)
ProductModel:
id code name
[code]...
(suppose orderProduct is an instance of OrderProductModel)Now the question is "how to define the report rule to access to code and name?"...I am using visual studio 2010 and by reading here:[URL]they says that the syntax: =Fields!Object.Value.attribute no longer works...
Is this class normally slow or maybe there is something in my process making it slow.I have to import 170,000 rows of data from a fixed length text file into a SQL table. It takes about 2 minutes in a DTS package on SQL server 2000. But we are migrating to a SQL 2008 server and since this code has several manual steps and does not manipulate the data I thought it would be easier to use the TextFieldParser object to handle reading in the data.
I'm having problems with an Invalid Cast Exception when I try and read a PDF from a database as a BLOB. I am able to write the files into the database no problems at all, however, when I try to retrieve them I just get InvalidCastException. Here is the code I'm using:
Protected Sub btnPDF_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles btnPDF.Click ' Request.QueryString["docid"].ToString(); Dim docuid As String = "b39a443d-ccfd-47f4-b333-f12cd94683d6"
I have a variable defined as Object(,) that was read in from excel. Without getting into a for/next, is there a simple way to read the c-th column or r-th rown from that array into a single variable?
I have some data that is contained in HTML tables within a webpage. I need the simplest means of extracting the data for storeage in SQL tables. I am knowledgeable of how to add the data to SQL tables...this portion of the code is already written. I would like to pull the data into the VB.NET 2008 environment using the XML DOM or a more efficient option.
After browsing the internet on how to read RDF Triples, the only things i came up with were user created libraries and so on. Some MSDN documentation on Microsoft's website confused me as well, as trying to import the Namespace shown was not possible. (Maybe it's possible just in C#? no idea). So how would someone read an RDF Triple using VB.NET? RDF is an XML format in which data is stored in triples: subject, predicate, object.
This is something that has been bugging me for a while as it is easily fixed but not desirable.I have a DataGridView that has 5 columns. The first is called ID.In vb.net the following line gives an error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object": dgvJobs.Columns("ID").Visible = False ' ERROR dgvJobs.Columns(0).Visible = False ' OK
Obviously using the name is much better than a hard coded value to reference the column but wondering if there is anything i can do to get this to work correctly? The datagridview datasource is BindingSource control with the datasource being a dataset.
MVC 3 razor VB.NET project. I have resorted to manual building a list for a drop down box so I can insure certain values are available in the select list and also to control what the first item is in the list. The below is my code snippet for the part that is giving me problems..
I'm making a program that can read a game music file and able to add some texts after it.So far, this is my code:
For Each foundFile As String In My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFiles("E:O2ChinaMusic", _ FileIO.SearchOption.SearchTopLevelOnly, "*.ojn") Dim fileName As String = IO.Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(foundFile) 'Filename[code]....
My problem is for example, the game music file's title is "Puberty", as you can see, my code is:
StrItm(1) = title & " INPUT TEXT HERE"
but the only one that appear is the word "Puberty" AND NOT "Puberty INPUT TEXT HERE".
I get an error at the ReadContents(0) = FilePath line saying "Object reference not set to an instance of an object", but the message box shows that "FilePath" holds the file path string.
I'm making a calculator that would read a "string" from a textbox and parse it and follow Order-of-Operations/PEMDAS on the string. I have a couple of questions:
1) What would be the best way to parse the code so that it won't just take a "left expression" and "expression" and perform the operation on those 2.
2)How would I be able to make is so that 0 is considered valid, but prevent a 00 or 020 or 002 to be inputed.
I'm in the process of creating a tile based game. This game requires a method to load a text file and write the numbers between the delimiter "-", to a multidimensional array. However, an error message "object not set to an instance occurs. [code]...
For starters I'm using VB 2008 express edition.I have code that writes a string out of a serial port.My issue is that the machine sends data back and I don't know how to catch it.This is my latest attempt at creating an array of characters to create a string later but doesn't work.[code]
This code should read the string "34,56,23,74,69" from a process's memory addresses (in this case notepad), right now it works but very slow and I think it even breaks somewhere. My problem is with the ReadProcessMemory function. I can't make it read an entire mbi.RegionSize into the buffer. I tried everything and now, it only reads 1 byte at a time until the mbi.RegionSize is finished then it checks if the text that was read contains the text I need to be found, then it goes to the next mbi.RegionSize. Now, even with notepad which is very small it still takes 10 seconds to find something and I intend to use it with a much bigger program, so it will take like forever. Another problem is that it only finds the string "34". If I put "34,5" it won't work.
