I am working on a tic tac toe game and it needs to have a file menu with a new game option. i was wondering if there is a line of code that will accomplish this for me instead of having to manually enter the code to remove all the images from the picture boxes and reset all my variables. reset the form?

I have some operations of Picture Boxes etc being performed. After the user finishes with the formatting, I want to give the user an option to print the work. But its the work is not done on the Rich Text Box but on picture boxes. I am not even sure, how many of the picture boxes would be there after the user finishes the job, since I have provided option for dynamically creating picture boxes as well.

I am developing a visual basic 2008 express edtion program of an organisation that should get images from the system and display on image/picture box. further the program should save the displayed image in access database so that it can be retrieved together when you want to search the information about that particular employee.

I have VS 2008 and use VB, not C#/C++ or whatever else. I'm trying to make a battleship game, and I've decided to use the only method I can think of to control the grid. A 2D boolean array for position marking. I have the array set up, and the grid set up in the design form, but I can't figure out with all my research how to link them together. I'm writing this program to shake off the rust before school starts again, and for fun. I took VB in school last year, a half year class, so I have a foundation, now I'm self-educating myself above and beyond the class. I've searched for a way to use a picture box array to use the coordinates of the ship to .Visible=True the picture boxes. I've been working on this for 2 days straight with no results. I just need a little nudge in the right direction. The exception I've been getting with my latest concoction of code is NullReferenceException was Unhandled. I think its referring to the fact that I have no idea how to link the picture boxes into the array. Here's my code, and I'll comment where the exception is thrown:
Private Sub cmdStart_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdStart.Click
'label for GoTo statements is Tryline:

Is there a way to compare values in text boxes?
For example, if I have two text boxes, I want to compare the numbers in each to see which is higher and then commit actions if one if higher.

Okay what i what to do is to compare one picture to another continuously untill it finds a change and then launches my code. Picture 1 - A picture i put to the form Picture 2 - I wont this to take a picture in a certain area and compare it to the first picture. lets say the first screen shot it took didn't match 'Picture 1' then it will keep taking pictures until it finds something different and when it finds something different it will launch my code.
I dont know if this is the right way to go since i heard something about pixel scanning but that's to hard since you have to find the exact RGB of that pixel. Also theirs like billions on the screen so it would be hard to find a change of color on the screen and then launch a code after that and keep repeating.

I need to compare the data between two text boxes and a variable. If the value of the boxes don't match up and the variable is -1, I need to fail it.When I do this:
VB.NET
If Not Me.txtPcidSystem.Text = Me.txtPcidDatabase.Text Then
I have no troubles, but adding the variable check produces a false positive.
VB.NET
If Not Me.txtPcidSystem.Text = Me.txtPcidDatabase.Text And TestData.BypassCheck_PCID = -1 Then
The way the code is laid out, I have to do this in one line. I can't check the first condition on one line and the second on another.I've tried separating the data out with parantheses, but it's producing the same results.

I am trying to write a program that will compare two strings in different text boxes. Then it must add 1 to a third text box for every time a letter appears in both text boxes. So for example if textbox1 said ABCDF and textbox 2 said ABTR it should return the number 2 because A and B appear in both.
This is what I have so far
Public Class Form1 Private Sub TextBox1_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles string1.TextChanged
End Sub
Private Sub Compare_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Compare.Click
Dim string1 As String
Dim string2 As String
Dim Result As Integer
End Sub
Function stringcompare(ByVal string1 As String, ByVal string2 As String, ByVal string3 As String) As Integer
stringcompare(string1 As string, string2 As string) End Function End Class

I have 3 images. All of them have a different background color and each have a different font used but have the same "number".Basically, I have 3 images, one with black background and another with red one. One image haver the number one "1" write in Arial and another with the same number but in comic sans and a third with number two "2"There's anyway to VB tell that are the same number inside?Maybe if I compare pixel to pixel and choose the one with less difference in pixels will do it?

I am capturing images from a webcam and I have to compare the degree of similarity between two or more images. that is... which two images are the closest match.
I know I cannot compare the pixels...so how do i go about it?
I am using Visual basic 2010 on Win7
This comparison need to be sufficiently fast. Within 2-3 seconds.
I was looking into pixel by pixel comparison. but webcam pictures as I understand do have slight changes between frames(disturbances).
I am working on recognizing hand gestures...which would in turn control a small mechanical crane...
for example a thumbs-up sign would mean a signal for crane to be switched on...and a full palm shown would mean a stop your work sign.
I plan wearing a white glove against a black background.
I also have ideas like dividing the screen into a 10x10 matrix.

My approach is to setup three different queries and save to three different variables and then save the data in the three variables into the new table. I have the new table setup in ms access. As you can see from my code, I had tried many different ways to generate my sql statement but none of them works. Now I am trying to figure out which part of the sql statement goes wrong by testing one by one. The two that is uncomment:
1)Dim SDFH As String = "SELECT SegmentCode FROM SegmentPlantTable WHERE DatePlanted < cdate('" & Date.Today & "')"
2)Dim SDFP As String = "SELECT SegmentCode FROM HarvestTable WHERE DateOfHarvest <

I'm a novice, messing around with input boxes in VB 2010 Express. I know most programmers recommend not using input boxes except for the simplest things, but what I'm doing IS the simplest thing. Besides, I'm really just experimenting for the sake of learning.
I want a few input boxes to appear, one at a time. Let's say there are six input boxes in this project. The user can input anything he wants in each input box. After the user has entered text into the six input boxes, the program should write the text to a file. This is the part I'm having trouble with. [Code]
I haven't figured out if title.input is correct or not, or if I need something instead of commas in between each item. And the headers (i.e. the "First Name" stuff) needs to be added in there also, but I need to get the syntax of the code right first before getting to that.

I'm trying to create an animation with 5 picture boxes (labeled picturebox0 - picturebox4) but I have a specific order I want them to display. I made 5 picture boxes, added images to them, and stack them on top of each other.
I want the order to show this: picturebox 0, 1, 4, 3, 2, 4, 2, 3, 1, 3... etc
The code I have using if-else statements which would work if I wanted to repeat the same display pattern but I need to manually right the pattern... I have at timer set to change the pictures every 2.5 seconds.
Code:
Private Sub Timer3_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer3.Tick
System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000)
[Code]....

I need an indexed set of picture boxes. The number, n, of these objects is determined at run-time.Migrating from VB6!! I had used the load command n times to create a control array from a "seed" picture box. In code the individual pictureboxes are accessed as formula(k), where formula was the name of the control array and k is an integer. Examples can be seen at url... the chemical formulae, Ni2+ etc., are draggable picture boxes (curve captions if you like), so that they can be placed wherever the user wants. How can I implement something similar in VB.NET?

I want to creat a photo hunt for 6-8th grades summer computer camp. all I want to do is have them change the image in paint, then load the two images in picture boxes on a form. When I create the ovals to identify the differences in the images, they automatically are behind the picturebox.I can't figure out how to get the ovals to be in front of the picture box. I click the picture box and say send to back but the ovals are still behind the picture boxes. There is no right click on the ovals to send to the front. there has to be a simple answer for this. I also tried putting the images on the background but when I make the ovals invisible, they are not clickable and I cant set the border to 0.This was a no brainer in vb6.0

In a program I'm planning to generate reports which I'll display using the rich text boxBesides rich text, i want to put images into the rtb. I've looked up how to put images into rtbs and the only way that i can find seems to be by pasting them from the clipboardThis method works well with setting bitmaps to the clipboard but i run into a problem when i try to set a metafile to the clipboard (the report contains plots and metafiles are perfect for that kind of thing). So if there could be another way of inserting a metafile into a rtb or maybe a way to write a rtf file with a metafile in it, that would be great.

I'm building a simple game which involves many pictureboxes with which the player may collide. For instance, I'd have a hundred bricks spread throughout the level. In an old version of pacman I built in VB6 (and upgraded to .net), I implemented this like so: [Code]
As I understood, the brick(I) array exists thanks to the naming of the bricks, which ranges from _brick_0 to _brick_217 (as nowhere in the project a brick array is declared implicitly, at least not that I could find). I'd like to do the same in my current project, but even when I duplicate an existing brick it automatically renames it to "PictureBox123" instead of _ExistingName_NextID.
I saw a method of declaring a picturebox array and adding the bricks one by one, but since I have so many pictures this would best be avoided (especially due to the fact that not all pictures are bricks, so I cant just loop through every picture in the form). In short, my question is: How do I duplicate pictureboxes so that they'd be serialized in a way vb.net would interpret as a picturebox array? As you can see, i'm a really newbie to vb.net and wf in general, just started studying wf a couple days ago for my B.Sc and even that was accomplished with c#.
