I was wondering if there was a solution to replacing the tab control's tabs with custom tabs made in Photoshop. I know there are plenty of super expensive programs that can do it, but I was wondering if there was a way to do it programmatically. I was thinking that maybe it could linked in some way with a .DLL?

I'm currently in the process of building a text editor type program, and have run into a brick wall. I haven't done VB in years, so I may just need a little reminder on some things. I have coded everything so far as far as opening files, saving them, changing fonts, colors, etc. However, I'm looking to add a Close button to my menu strip that will just close the currently opened file, and not the entire program, while also ask the user if he/she would like to save before closing the file, and then if they select yes, it will show the save dialog, and if not, it will go ahead and close the currently opened item.

One of the VBF member was asking how to add a close button on the BindingNavigator control once and reuse it on all other forms, so I try to create a custom bindingnavigator class that inherits the BindingNavigator class.Below is the inherited class:
[Code]...
The thing that I can't figure out is that it looks OK in design mode, but at run time, the custom binding navigator shows 2 "Close" buttons. Only one of them will close the form when clicked, the other one doesn't function. See the attached image.

I'm making a notepad program and it's working out good except for when you close the form. I've tried to write a script that when you click the exit button will preform a check. For each tab in tabcontrol1 it will have a pop up asking if you want to save but only if the tab text doesn't = "New Tab" and has so content in its Rich Text Box. If the user clicks yes then it will save if no it just closes the tab. But if the user click cancel and aborts the close then it needs to stop the form from closing. But since there are multiple tabs I figured I'd use an array to hold the values of what was pressed and at the end if the array contains "no" or "n" then it wont close. But it doesn't work. Here's my code.
Public Sub closingform(ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.FormClosingEventArgs)
If TabControl1.TabCount >= 1 Then
Dim i As Integer = 0
[Code]....

Is there any way to skip a the validating event of the active control when the close button of the form is clicked. It is very annoying when user wants to close the form, but due to the validate event of the active control, it asks for the valid input. The user is forced to give valid input to close the form. I have searched a lot for this on net but no any proper solution could be found.

Since there doesn't appear to be a built-in ability to change the visibility of an individual tab page within a tab control, is there a generally accepted work around to do so?

Ok I'll try and explain this is as simply as I can using an example. Hopefully you will get at what i'm getting at.Let's say I have a form with two buttons. By default these buttons will be tabindexed 1 and 2. So using the tab key you can simply switch. So to remove this one would select tabstop=false for both. So now you have two buttons which can be only clicked

First off I hope this is in the correct I am creating a calculator software in Visual Basic 2008 Express edition. I don't know if it is .NET or not, I assume it is? I downloaded this version: [URL]...Now, I will have tabs at the top. The tabcontrol is named "Tabs". On each tab I will have a different category of mathematical functions. Now, I need the backspace, clear, clear entry, equals, and all the numbers 0-9 to appear on every single tab. Is there a way of doing this without creating a new button named "Backspace2", "Backspace3" for tabs 2 & 3 for example?

I have a setup/configuration utility that I am making. The form is split the left side has a nodeview that allows the user to select what they want to setup/configure, and the right side displays that screen.
I figured the easiest way to switch between those screens is to place them in a TabControl, but I dont want the tabs to display when its compiled. How can I turn off the display of the tabs?

I have a form containing a date textbox and a submit button and a close window button. The date textbox onblur calls a javascript function which checks for date validation and some other logic and displays some alert messages. The date on the textbox is always selected and onfocus. My problem is when I try to click the close window button with/without changing the date the alert messages from the onblur logic are displaying and I am unable to close the window. I tried using onchange instead of onblur but onchange too works when a control looses focus. it works fine when I donot change the date but when I change the date and hit the close window button it too displays the alert messages and the window does not close. Please suggest me what will be my best option.

i am creating an activeX control... in this control i want to manage what the tab key does. i may a user interface that allows tabs in the textbox or it might move the user to the next screen. i have everything working in the IDE, but when my activeX is loaded into the 3rd party application the tabs no longer trigger the key down event. i assume this is because the parent application has tab stops is there a way on a control by control basis to stop the normal execution of tabs?

I use VB. NET 2008. I'm starting to work with the Tab Control and command will want to know about techniques such as adding tabs at runtime using this control.
To illustrate what I'm saying, just take one checked on your browser or in the VB (Start Page, when we add other forms to our project).

I have a application with a tabcontrol. I dynamically open new tabs on which there is a custom control which is made of a graph and a datagridview with data. I fill this from a csv file. when I open few tabs like this my application memory goes over 120 MB. When I remove the tab I call the dispose on the custom control and a dispose for the tab. But the memory stays where it was (120+MB). It goes down only if I minimize the program. And when I show it again its around 10MB.
