Control Visibility Of Individual Tabs In A Tab Control?
Nov 8, 2010
Since there doesn't appear to be a built-in ability to change the visibility of an individual tab page within a tab control, is there a generally accepted work around to do so?

I was wondering if there was a solution to replacing the tab control's tabs with custom tabs made in Photoshop. I know there are plenty of super expensive programs that can do it, but I was wondering if there was a way to do it programmatically. I was thinking that maybe it could linked in some way with a .DLL?

I've been working at this for hours, and I'm completely stumped. There may be a more elegant way to do what I want, but I can't find it in my reference books or online. I have a form that has 64 labels corresponding to 64 unique locations on a map. Each of the labels contains one character, a ●. The program determines, randomly, if these is something in those locations.'m using a For... next loop to step through each location and determine if there is something there. My question is how do I turn off the label in the form without resorting to some 64 choice Select Case statement (or something similar).

I have an application that has 4 WebBrowser control to monitor a commercial website. I would like each WebBrowser to be using its own proxy however it looks like the proxy setting affects all the browsers and cannot be set on an individual basis.
Is there a way to have individual proxies for each WebBrowser control?

I have a ListView with the columns 'Name', 'Expected', 'Total', and I want to add another column saying 'Recount' at the end. The 'Recount' column will ideally have a checkbox only if the 'Expected' value is larger than the 'Total' value.
So far I have got the ListView with columns and can add a check box on the left hand side, but that check box is not under a column heading (though I can probably put another column with no values in there to work around that) and it is on all of the records.

I have a single series bar chart created programmatically in codebehind which I would like to display the Y point value (somewhere above the bar, or maybe as a tooltip) when the user hovers their mouse over a bar.
Is there a native onmouseover event for the bars of the chart, or is it something that should be added through series.MapAreaAttributes?
I've found the points.tooltip attribute which I can add at the same time I add the point which will do what I want it to do, but it would still be nice to know if you can capture events for the bars, just for future reference.

I have a setup/configuration utility that I am making. The form is split the left side has a nodeview that allows the user to select what they want to setup/configure, and the right side displays that screen.
I figured the easiest way to switch between those screens is to place them in a TabControl, but I dont want the tabs to display when its compiled. How can I turn off the display of the tabs?

i am creating an activeX control... in this control i want to manage what the tab key does. i may a user interface that allows tabs in the textbox or it might move the user to the next screen. i have everything working in the IDE, but when my activeX is loaded into the 3rd party application the tabs no longer trigger the key down event. i assume this is because the parent application has tab stops is there a way on a control by control basis to stop the normal execution of tabs?

I use VB. NET 2008. I'm starting to work with the Tab Control and command will want to know about techniques such as adding tabs at runtime using this control.
To illustrate what I'm saying, just take one checked on your browser or in the VB (Start Page, when we add other forms to our project).

I have a application with a tabcontrol. I dynamically open new tabs on which there is a custom control which is made of a graph and a datagridview with data. I fill this from a csv file. when I open few tabs like this my application memory goes over 120 MB. When I remove the tab I call the dispose on the custom control and a dispose for the tab. But the memory stays where it was (120+MB). It goes down only if I minimize the program. And when I show it again its around 10MB.

Using vb.net 2008 Forms. I have a groupbox consisting of several textbox's and a push button. I put this groupbox in a control collection in order to validate each texbox when the push button is clicked.
The code to do this is as follows:
Private Sub bn_updateadditem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles bn_updateadditem.Click
Dim InvalidInput As Boolean = False
Controls.AddRange(New System.Windows.Forms.Control() {Me.GroupBox1})
Dim ctrl As Control
For Each ctrl In Controls
[Code] .....
This worked great. However when I moved this groupbox with all its controls onto a tab, the groupbox contents disappeared from the form after the control collection is created and contents validated (per above code).

I noticed that when using a single letter as the title on a tab of a Tab Control , the tab is bigger that it should . Look on this example :
The above Tab Control behaves normally because the text on each tab is sufficient to keep it big enough . The lower Tab Control , however , has its tabs too big . Is it possible to reduce its width ? I saw there is an ItemSize property of the Tab Controls , but unfortunately I can only modify the height of the tabs . No matter what value I set for its width , the width remains always the same (and larger than it should) ...

I used the tab control to separate the type of info, and use a global button to call the TableAdapterManager Update All command (i have 2 more tables in the database that have names of citys and types of professions to make it easy to fill all the data), some times it works others no... "Error Update 0 of 1" The form was built with drag and drop operations...

I want a context menu strip to have 4 specific items. For testing purposes, we call them Item1, Item2, Item3, and Item4.I've set up a context menu strip like this, and I am using it for about 20 different controls. I want these four items to do different things based on what control the user right clicks. The only way I could think of doing this, was to make 20 context menu strips and create a click event for each item. This obviously, seems like a really bad way of doing it.Does anyone have any suggestions or another way of making the click events for the individual Items based on what control is right clicked?

How to programmatically change foreground color and make bold text in individual cell location on DataGridView control (Visual Basic)?
I use "dgMatrix.Rows(r).Cells(c).Value = x" to assign individual numeric values to individual cells in a DataGridView control. My question; is there a similar way to change foreground color and make bold the text in this cell, by specifying the individual row/column cell location?
For example; for cell (row 3, col 5) in the DataGridView make text in cell say red and bold or blue and bold so as to highlight and distinguish individual cell contents. As needed, I will also need to reset these properties (foreground back to automatic/black and font from bold back to regular); the reset could be done globally to the whole DataGridView as opposed to indiviaually by cell.

Here's my situation: I have a control with motion graphics (for the sake of simplicity, a 'video player' control) in my project. Think of a PictureBox with constantly-changing images. In front of this will sit a second control (such as a second PictureBox of the same dimensions). The topmost PictureBox will be drawn to in its Paint event.
I need to draw very few elements, and the bottom control is updated much more frequently than I need for this drawing. So these elements are drawn to the topmost control. Think of a news broadcast, where they have live video in the background, with a news channel logo, news ticker, and sometimes gradient visible in front.
I'm trying to create that 'foreground' control, and the closest I believe I have gotten so far is the following:
Imports System.Drawing
Imports System.Drawing.Imaging
Imports System.Drawing.Drawing2D
[CODE]...
The 'Opacity' property in the code above is a sort of "scaling factor." The image drawn to the top control may, in different parts of the image, have any alpha value from full transparent to a full 255. This 'Opacity' property is applied to the entire image being drawn, scaling the alpha values of each pixel.
