1.1.tostring String
1.1.tostring("0.00") {"Enum value was out of legal range."} System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException

Enum ToString Returns An Unknown Number?

Jul 16, 2009

I built a simple vb.net winforms project that pings IP addresses and logs the results. It works fine on most machines I've tried it on. I log the status result of the ping System.Net.NetworkInformation.IPStatus) by using the IPStatus.tostring method.

Normally this returns a text result such as "Success" or "TimedOut"Yesterday, on one machine it returned "65" ...which is not one of the enum values. I have a feeling it might be a combination of values. I ran some test code:

Dim status As System.Net.NetworkInformation.IPStatus
status = Net.NetworkInformation.IPStatus.Success
MsgBox(status.ToString)
Which returns "Success"And this: status = Net.NetworkInformation.IPStatus.BadDestination Or Net.NetworkInformation.IPStatus.BadHeader MsgBox(status.ToString)

Which returns "11050" I suspect the "65" I saw was the result of some combination of enum values. Is there any way I can change the code in my second example to show the text names of both values? That is... any way I can see ALL values in this variable?

Fetch The Data Between The Give Date Range From Ms Sql 2005 Database

May 17, 2011

I am developing one desktop application using vb.net 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005. fetching the data from database between a given range.

the date field in my table is of type VARCHAR(25) and the date format stored is dd-mm-yyyy. when I using the between clause in the SQL query then it is not giving all the data every time i.e. the date criteria in where clause is not working fine.

while my clients requirement is to keep the date format as dd-mm-yyyy and fetch the data according to the given range.

I search on the forum and found many queries to fetch the data by converting or type casting the date field within sql query but nothing worked.

The table structure that I am using is as follows

USE [Firm_master]
GO
/****** Object: Table [dbo].[tblTransaction] Script Date: 05/17/2011 21:49:11 ******/

VS 2010 Make An Enum Of Strings?

Feb 20, 2012

I would like to make an enum of strings. There are several masks for text boxes that I would like to standardize in our system.For simplicity lets say there are 2 masks:

"PhoneNumber" which is "(999)000-0000"
"Zip Code" which is "00000-9999"

I would like to be able to reference these through out the entire program in a manner such as:

DefaultMasks.ZipCode or DefaultMasks.PhoneNumber

Since enums can not be of string type, what would your best suggestions be as to how I could do this. I had thought about a class with constants in it but I was not sure how to implement that properly.

.net - .NET DateTime.ToString() - Default Format Setting?

Nov 18, 2011

Is the default format of ToString dependent on anything server related? Here's the issue: I'm testing and have tested an application on my local machine and ToString(), by default, is returning in a format of "MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss tt", however on our server it appears to be returning as "dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm:ss tt" which the consuming application is not expecting and causing errors.

Dim uvExpireDate = DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(1)
Dim token = String.Format(fmtString, uvExpireDate.ToUniversalTime().ToString(), [various other params])

Check If Two Strings Are Within A Range Of Eachother?

Dec 25, 2009

I need to take six altitudes altitude1 and altitude2 and check to see if they are with in a value of 250 of each other. Then if there are any that are within 250 of each other, to make them turn red.

Second thing is:

I need to take 6 altitudes, and arrange them. I have them in panels and I have 6 empty panels as place holders for .location value however I need to know how to look at 6 values and say arrange these values accordingly highest number this place lowest number this place etc.

I have looked everywhere on the internet and maybe im just retarded when it comes to math in vb.net.

Office Automation :: FindAll Matching Strings In Excel Range / Array?

Feb 12, 2012

I am importing data from an Excel spreadsheet into an array. I want to search the array to find the location of each "cell" with text that contains a certain string (e.g. "MyTestString"). So far the best I can do is loop through each element and test it using CStr, but the code takes too long to execute (please assume all variables are properly declared):

[Code]...

(1) Is there a better way than looping through each element, such as a built-in function or a lambda that will return an array containing *the location of* all string matches?

(2) Would it be faster to convert the Object array to a String array rather than using CStr on each element? If so, what is the fastest way to convert a 2-dimensional Object array to a String array?

I've considered using Excel's Find function instead, but would prefer to limit the number of Interop calls to Excel.

Iphone - Correct Format For Reading And Writing Binary Strings Using Ifstream?

Sep 24, 2010

I'm trying to read back a string that I wrote into a binary file, but it's giving me problems and I don't know what's going on. I open and read my file using the code below:

ifstream input([filePath UTF8String], ios::in | ios::binary);

There is a lot more to the file reading code, but it's proprietary and this is the part that keeps crashing. It runs fine loading the first two files, but when I try to open a third file, it crashes with EXC_BAD_ACCESS at the input.read((char*)names, numStringBytes); line. I don't see any reason that this should crash. I'm writing the binary files in VB.NET using the below code:

Dim myFS As New FileStream(savePath, FileMode.Create)
Dim encoding As New System.Text.UTF8Encoding()
Dim stringBytes() As Byte = encoding.GetBytes("++string")

Which is better, using a nullable enum or adding the value None=0 to your enum list?Using nullables requires more code, but I kind of like it since it forces me to think about the possibility. Otherwise I'm liable to forget about the None enum and fail to account for it being a special case.
