The Office 2007 interop API doesn't provide any event on document changes.
How can i get an event for each modification that happens ? (like OnDeleteSlide, OnAddSlide, etc..)
I think to get a hash of the document actually in ram, but don't see how...
I have successfully managed to encrypt .txt files with no problem, using RijndaelManaged. Now I need to encrypt/decrypt word documents, however when I try to encrypt a .doc/.docx the decryption goes south and when I open the decrypted file it shows a bunch of gibberish.

But all I keep getting is an exception on the CreateObject line indicating "Cannot create ActiveX component". I don't think it likes the "Word.Application" statement for some reason. Is this because I'm using Word2010?

View 1 RepliesMy program splits a mulitpage tiff file (batch of purchase orders from Sage MMS)into separate files by doing OCR and using the MODI functions.My code has three main loops. 1st loop goes through each of the pages and splits the tiff into separate tiff files based on order number and stores them in a directory. for each order i also create an array of information by doing OCR from the tiff ie. order number, customer etc etc. 2nd loop goes through the array. for each order number in the array checks to see if there is another tiff file existing in another directory. This could be a separate sheet which needs to be attached to the main purchase order and comes from a document scanner in another office.If there is an additional file i merge that tiff file with the current tiff file. 3rd loop goes through the array once more and uses the microsoft faxcomexlib to faxed the files using my server 2003 fax serverthe 3 loops work perfect and very fast and i can send the faxes no problem.
I also add all the array information into an access database so historical purposes.My problem:In the first loop i need to check that the fax has not already been sent. (users can reprint orders so need to be careful that fax isnt sent more than once) I do this by getting the order number and querying the database. If the order does not exist then i can proceed else i prompt the user to refax yes or no.i have put the database connection and sql in a function which returns true or false. however when i add the function to my main loops i get a file lock on the current order. If i remove the function my code works perfect.

I am looking for a way of automating the generation of a text document which includes a table and an image. My client has requested, however, that it be in Open Office format. I have played around with AODL for a while and have been able to create a file with the text within the table but some things are still bugging me.One such thing is column width. Another one is aligning an image.I find the problem with AODL is that it is not very intuitive to use and there are not so many examples available.

I am currently using the code below within a VB.Net application to find specific text in a Word document. The text is surrounded by symbols represented by the character codes in the .Text statement. The code below is working fine. The issue now is that sometimes the desired text within a document has been marked for deletion and appears as tracked change within the document. I would like to find only the desired text that has NOT been marked for deletion. Does anyone know of a way to determine if the found text is a deletion?

We have currently upgraded our development machines to Windows 7 and Office 2007. We have a vb 2008 app that references 2003 Office components to use for mail-merging to word.We loaded up our app in the vb environment today and were instantly greeted with missing components/functions which are related to the 2003 Office components. We can update these to use the Office 2007 components/functions instead, however we are unsure whether after doing this our vb app will work with machines only with Office 2003 on. can machines with Office 2003 on work with our vb app that references Office 2007 components?

Nos, i've got .NET 4 installed, and i've added the system.tsr and mscorlib.dll files as reference in, say, Excel 2007 (see screenshot).However, when i try to make a thread with anything as basic as "Dim Thread1 As System.Threading.Thread", i get a user-defined type not found error.Indeed, when i use the object browser to see what's in the System file, theres nothing remotely linked to any Threading, and in the mscorlib file, nothing under "Threading" either, just a few Thread related functions, but nothing defining a data type
I've developed shared addin for Microsoft Word. I distribute this addin with my application and using Inno setup for installation. The Inno setup installs my application and then runs "myAddin.msi" file in order to install addin.
how to uninstall this addin programatically?
Right now, in order to uninstall addin, the user has to to it manually through control panel.

View 1 RepliesI've made Add-in for Word 2007 in VS2005.It worked well with Word 2007 and now it works well with Word 2010 32 bit.However it doesn't work with Word 2010 64 bit. The installation is successful, but the ribbon button doesn't show up.

I have used VB.NET and Microsoft Offices Interop to create an application that will run on a server and will print files for different users.My problem is that I need to find a way to impersonate different users so that when MS Word opens and prints, the resulting print job is recorded under that user. I found this link that lets you run .net code as a different user - unfortunately it doesn't work with this code. The username recorded is still the user that is logged on the server.Code Removed by moderator. Any ideas how I can make the Office app I'm automating run under a different user to the .net program that is calling it?
