Treeview - Add New Node And Select Text For Editing

I want to add nodes that behave in a similar fashion as when you add new folders in windows explorer. i.e. right click > new folder > then the new folder is added and highlighted as New Folder so that as soon as the user types they are overwriting the folder name.
I can add a new node as a child node of the node I have selected and label it "New Node" but I can't figure out how to select the new node and have it highlighted so that when the user types, they are overwriting the "New Node" text.
I have tried this but it doesn't work.

I'm Trying to select node on treeview with:

As you can see I'm trying to select the node "test" which is also sub-node. But I get no error nor a selected node.

Why I right click on a node in my treeview the focus moves to this node and then immediately back to the previously selected node. Is there some way that I can allow the right click to select the node?

I have been working with VB 6.0 for years. I am converting an app that uses treeviews to VB.Net 2008. The way it use to work the tree grid started with a list of the drives on the system. Left click drilled down in the selected drive or directory. Right click would perform an action with the selected drive or directory. In VB.Net it appears you can only select with left click using the AFTERSELECT event. Is there a way to select a node with right click?

I would like to select a default node in a treeview(dirDB). That comes from a default drive selected in a combobox(drvDB) that selects files and puts them in a listbox(filDB) i haven't added anything to do that yet. at the moment i have this code:

I bet there is a function or a selectNode If kindof thing? i am totally looking over that can choose these. vb seems very good at putting things right infront of me and i just completely miss them..

I have a TreeView populated with some nodes, and some of those nodes have children. Is it possible that when the node, or child is selected that the entire node including the children be selected? I still want to deal only with the value of the root node, but for the UI I want the root + children to be selected.

I want to select a node from my tree view, whatever I select is going to get a record from my database, I need a unique ID in each node so it will collect the correct document relating to the selected node.
How can I do this? the name of the node maybe used more than once? Each row in my database has an ID and Title, the title is the name I guess the ID being unique needs to be tied in somehow.

I have been playing with, and researching, this all day and can't figure it out. I have a Windows Explorer style form with a TreeView and a ListView. I've populated the TreeView with directories and when a node is selected, the ListView fills with the contents of the directory associated with that node. No problem there, but I want to be able to select a directory in the ListView and automatically select the associated node in the TreeView, just like it works in Windows Explorer. All the information I've found online tells me how to populate the ListView from the TreeView, but I haven't found any good examples of how to populate the TreeView from the ListView.

I have a treeview on my ASP.Net page and for some reason the text on some nodes gets cut off, I am programatically adding all the nodes and am aware of the existing issue listed here: [URL] however I am not changing the font and as you see in the code below this fix does not work for me.

The strange thing is that this issue only appears in IE, I have tested it in chrome and Firefox and both browsers display the text perfectly.
When I select a node this fixes the problem and all text displays as normal.

I have a function to rename a TreeView Node to a TextBox text.. When the user clicks a button with a little icon on it, a new Node is created. It is called Graphic_(0,1,2 ect.) So it changes the number to the TreeView Node count.
E.g
Graphic_0
Graphic_1
ect.
But, the user can also Delete the nodes and Rename them..
Sooo... the problem is, that if the user renames a previous Node, and calls it Graphic_ and then the NEXT number to occur, 2 Nodes will be the same, and I don't want that.
E.g
Graphic_0
Graphic_1
Graphic_4 <<<< User renames to up coming node number..
Graphic_3
So what I want is to prevent 2 Nodes being the same.. how do I change the UPCOMING Node name to the missed out Node, in our example: Graphic_2.

I'm trying to open a file via a treeview. The nodes resemble the files and folders within a (parent)folder. I also have a textbox which has the location, including the name of the (parent)folder.

This code gives me the path including the parent-node How do I get the path without the parent?

I'm in need of a custom control that will allow me to do something like the attached image. It's basically a TreeView with the exception of having a row of PictureBoxes for each child node. I'd be happy with a ListView that could do this even. I tried it briefly with a DataGridView with ImageColumns but the "look" wasn't quite what I was after. I'd like the "Parent Node" text to be situated above the row of images and just can't seem to find a control that will allow this.

In Treeview control, I have made particular node backcolor as black to hide text. But it does not work properly. On click of that particular node, it displays text eventhough when I set BackColor as Black. Is there anyway to hide the text in Scenario also. I don't want to actually remove the text from that node as I have done lot of coding by checking node text.

i have a treeview which has a bunch of parent and child nodes preset at design time, there is 1 parent node tho which is called developer, that i want to add child nodes to at runtime.When the form first loads im trying to have it check a text file and for each line in the text file add the text/string from that as a child node tot he 'developer' parent node.

I have an application where I'm allowing the user to edit the text of a treeview node. Is it possible to "lock" portions of the node's text to keep it from being edited?
For instance, if the text is "BK01" originally, can I keep the user from editing the "BK" prefix?
I currently validate the user's input when they are finished editing, but I'd like to keep them from entering incorrect information to begin with.

I know that this should probably be under mobile development .. but no one seems to use that thread ... so anyway .. here is what i am trying to do:

The above works for a windows application ... but i was wondering how i could do this on a windows mobile application as LabelEdit and BeginEdit don't exist!

All my TreeView nodes have a unique ID for their Node Depth.
I want to set Checked=True on the TreeView Node which matches a certain value.
Currently I'm doing the following:Dim value As Integer = 57
For Each n As TreeNode In tvForces.Nodes
If n.Value = value Then n.Checked = True
Next
Is there a better way of finding the Node which I want to set as Checked=True rather than looping through each node?
I'm looking for something like:Dim value As Integer = 57

I have a TreeView in my form that I populate manually from a list of items in a database. The descriptions of the TreeView items causes a horizontal scrollbar to be displayed. That is fine except that it seems that this scrollbar hides the item at the bottom of the TreeView. If I expand a tree node the bottom item that was previously hidden will be displayed.
