I'm trying to open a file via a treeview. The nodes resemble the files and folders within a (parent)folder. I also have a textbox which has the location, including the name of the (parent)folder.

This code gives me the path including the parent-node How do I get the path without the parent?
i have a treeview which has a bunch of parent and child nodes preset at design time, there is 1 parent node tho which is called developer, that i want to add child nodes to at runtime.When the form first loads im trying to have it check a text file and for each line in the text file add the text/string from that as a child node tot he 'developer' parent node.

I'm in need of a custom control that will allow me to do something like the attached image. It's basically a TreeView with the exception of having a row of PictureBoxes for each child node. I'd be happy with a ListView that could do this even. I tried it briefly with a DataGridView with ImageColumns but the "look" wasn't quite what I was after. I'd like the "Parent Node" text to be situated above the row of images and just can't seem to find a control that will allow this.

I've got the drag and drop working, but I'm hoping to limit the ability to drag items that create a child of a child. Ideally, if someone drags an item from the listview to the Treeview and the drop the listview item over a child, it would drop the dragged item to the parent.

View 10 RepliesA form has a multi line textbox that is read line by line searching for "MSH". When found it adds that line as a parent to the treeview. each following line is added as a child. Works fine if only one "MSH" line but if more than 1 I get must clone or remove message. I did clone the message but I don't want a duplicate of what is there. I have tried several variations and have not been able to get the 2nd MSH to be added as a child but not parent.I have started to repeate code so was hoping some of you experts can point me in the correct direction. I was wondering how I would go about placing a check in the checkboxes for each child node of a parent node in a TreeView control, if I was to check the parent node.
For example:

I have a treeview that is populated. The user will have some node selected in that treeview. A refresh function is called, and the program remembers the full path, so that after the treeview is cleared and repopulated, the same user selected node can be reselected for them automatically.

I've got a dataset that I maintain. The user interface to the dataset is a treeview and a listbox. The listbox shows the "items" in the treeview node that is currently selected. This works fantastic. As items are added to the dataset, I grab the fullpath property of the treeview node so I can filter and only display items that belong to the in the node that is selected. I then save all of this information to an XML file (including the fullpath of the node that the item is "in").
This all works great and does everything that I want it to. The problem comes when I load the XML file back in. I'm trying to re-create the treeview nodes exactly as they were when the document was saved. I know what the nodes are because of the fullpath property, it looks something like this: State\City\SiteName
I'm trying to create a sub (or function) to recursively create this structure. I've managed to get close, but I haven't actually got the logic yet. I've been able to get all the nodes added, but they seem to only be added at the second level. One thing that I need to worry about is duplicates. I have a treeview on my ASP.Net page and for some reason the text on some nodes gets cut off, I am programatically adding all the nodes and am aware of the existing issue listed here: [URL] however I am not changing the font and as you see in the code below this fix does not work for me.

The strange thing is that this issue only appears in IE, I have tested it in chrome and Firefox and both browsers display the text perfectly.
When I select a node this fixes the problem and all text displays as normal.
How to delete a node by his name?
View 11 RepliesI want to add nodes that behave in a similar fashion as when you add new folders in windows explorer. i.e. right click > new folder > then the new folder is added and highlighted as New Folder so that as soon as the user types they are overwriting the folder name.
I can add a new node as a child node of the node I have selected and label it "New Node" but I can't figure out how to select the new node and have it highlighted so that when the user types, they are overwriting the "New Node" text.
I have tried this but it doesn't work.

I have a function to rename a TreeView Node to a TextBox text.. When the user clicks a button with a little icon on it, a new Node is created. It is called Graphic_(0,1,2 ect.) So it changes the number to the TreeView Node count.
E.g

But, the user can also Delete the nodes and Rename them..
Sooo... the problem is, that if the user renames a previous Node, and calls it Graphic_ and then the NEXT number to occur, 2 Nodes will be the same, and I don't want that.

So what I want is to prevent 2 Nodes being the same.. how do I change the UPCOMING Node name to the missed out Node, in our example: Graphic_2.

In Treeview control, I have made particular node backcolor as black to hide text. But it does not work properly. On click of that particular node, it displays text eventhough when I set BackColor as Black. Is there anyway to hide the text in Scenario also. What I am after is to have a parent icon that does not change regardless if it is selected or unselected. But the children will follow the icons for selected and unselected.
