Delete Folder Permission - Get System Permission To Delete The Directory?

Apr 3, 2009

My.Computer.FileSystem.DeleteDirectory("folder location here", FileIO.DeleteDirectoryOption.DeleteAllContents)

I created a program which was deleting a particular directory for me. The program was compiled and working. Today I run the same program...did not do any system updates and now it won't delete my specified directory. I ran tests to make sure the directory is there when testing...I keep getting access/permission errors.

I rebooted system, ran my application...still gave me error. I turned off Windows Defender...still got error. If I manually delete the directory...no problem.

Is there a way to get system permission to delete the directory? I am being given an 'access denied' error...I do not have permission. I tried running my application as administrator...no good. - VB 2008 Express - VISTA OS

I am displaying a Master-Detail tables in a DataGridView. The Master has only one table and the Detail also has only table. Both tables have primary keys. Unable To Delete Record In Database

Mar 5, 2009

I am connected to a mdb using OleDb. The Connection code is :
' GET CONNECTED TO DB
Try' Open a connection to the database.cn = New OleDb.OleDbConnection(strConnection)cn.Open()
' Load Data Adapteradapter = New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter(strSelect, strConnection)
' Create Auto generated Insert, Update, Delete cmds for Tableautogen = New OleDb.OleDbCommandBuilder(adapter)
[Code] .....

Add & Update are working perfectly, but delete doesn't update in the db. While application is running it shows that data is deleted, but when I run again, I see the same data, so its not physically deleting from the db. Add & Update both are working perfectly even after re-running.Can anyone tell me where am I going wrong in delete part. The row is also proeprly selected. No exceptions, yet why not deleting physically.

Get Folder Path Of Application?

Jul 4, 2011

This is a messy way of updating my application but I don't have much other way I can think of doing it. Here is the background information:

My app does not use ClickOnce or any deployment other than just copy/paste the files into a zip and uploading on the web My app has a "update check" form which checks for strings on my website to compare current version with a newer version

Now basically, it downloads correctly. Nothing about that is the problem. I use My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile to do so.

Currently, the user downloads and has to REPLACE the file. Its not an update, its just an "updated" application. I'm not fully sure how I will go about proceding this later, but currently I'm trying to do the first part of my pseudocode below. Which is to get the application's path so that I can "replace" it later programmatically so that it performs a "auto-update".

Pseudocode of what I am trying to accomplish (anything in bold is what I'm trying to accomplish that I haven't already done):

Get folder path of application Download the app update with My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile download Extract this updated folder and replace the contents with the current folder path of the application.

I have the download aspect complete. As far as this question goes, how do I get the folder and replace the contents? As far as extraction though, what are your thoughts on the best method to extract and then replace?
