I am relativel new to using the .Net framework. I am trying to learn how to set the path of a file to a variable, and having no luck. I keep getting a message that indicates that the path can't be set. The error seems to be a runtime error. Here is the code
I create a string array from a bunch of files that were dropped on a control after that i use a loops to pass that data into an array of my pictureObjects object (just stores filePath info and some other things).for some reason after it's been passed to the control the "My.Computer.FileSystem.RenameFile" doesn't seem to work at all... it's a valid file name and everthing.
Dim sFileArray() As String = e.Data.GetData(DataFormats.FileDrop)
'load sFileArray into new array of picureObjects ReDim dropedPicture(sFileArray.Length) Dim dropedOnPictureBox As Integer[code]......
I am getting the following error when trying to open a vb .net 1.0 project using VS2002."Unable to open Web project 'ProjectName'.The file path 'FilePath' does not correspond to the URL 'ProjectURL'. The two need to map to the same server location. HTTP 404: Object Not Found."I have tried ALL of the links that Google threw at me (on the first page) on searching on "unable to open web project the two need to map to the same server location" term.I get this error when trying to open an existing vb.net 1.0 project and also when creating a new one.
I would like to create a filepath and assign it to a string (so that it can have yet more added to it later on in my program) the code takes (well i want it to but it doesn't) the name of a drive selected previously and then adds this to a string to create a string variable that refers to a file. and then (as usual) i want to use thes files and display them in a combobox but i want to only select files that have a pre selected 2characters at the front. I have got this code so far:
' search for filer drive NETAPP-1 For i = 0 To frmDatabase.drvDB.Items.Count - 1 If InStr(frmDatabase.drvDB.SelectedText(), "\Netapp-1malika", CompareMethod.Text) Then
I use the followoing code to import an xlsx file into an Access 2007 table. It works fine when I enter the exact file name.However, part of the file name is a date which will change every week.The file location does not change,just the date in the file name.[code]I've tried using a wildcard but I get a Run-time error 3011.Db engine could not find the object. Make sure the object exists.
When i try to use this it gives error: txtSearch is not accesible? what am i doing wrong here? This is not complete code just a snippet. But i think it gives an idea what am i trying to do.
I have a Access program and I'm using VBA code in the background to run Winunzip using shell command. Well, the path of the .zip file has spaces in it and it's not recongizing the path as a valid path. Is there a another way to tackle this problem besides the shell?I can't us pkzip either. Has you can see I had to use progra~1 instead of Program Files.[code]
I am trying to use a unc path to delete a folder from my own machine but I'm getting an "Authorized" error. If I change it to a non-unc path it works file.[code]....
I am having a big problem with deleteing a file form the server. I have the filename for a image stored in my SQL database. the problem is i am getting an error of "Illegal characters in path. " Here is the code below:Everything is working fine until the delete command.
Protected Sub DeleteButton_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Dim tmpEquipID As String = Request("EquipID") Dim tmpImageID As String = (CType(FormView1.FindControl("ImageIDLabel"), Label).Text) Dim d As New equippicsDataContext
I am trying to read and display a file using MapPath as follows :
Response.ContentType = "Application/pdf" Dim FilePath As String = MapPath("../Document/123.pdf") Response.WriteFile(FilePath) Response.End()
This procedure will work fine and display in the browser. However, if I save the file to C:Document123.pdf, how can I access this file using relative path in MapPath function. Is there an option to access the file which is saved out of IIS server? I am using vb.net 2003.
I am trying to allow my VB.NET EXE to have a variable defined by the run command. The problem is I have no idea what the terminology would be for this type of run.
For example - the shortcut is set to do "myexe.exe debug" This would set a variable to "debug" which on execution my app knows to enable a debug mode.I've done it in batch scripts before - it just enables the "%1" variable or "%2" based on the location (e.g. test.bat hello world - hello would be %1 and world would be %2).Hopefully I explained it well. I tried searching for "variable in execution path" and "variable on execution" with other mixes, but none of those searches return what I am looking for.
I can't seem to get this to work. I am just a novice plugger and do some of these forms for my work occasionally. I am assigning a textbox result to a variable. I then want to use that variable in a path string i.e. ("c:some stuffvarname") but the variable looses focus once placed inside the quotes.
I am concatenating a variable onto a path(string), i'm using a message box to display this for testing purposes, I can see that the variable is starting on a new line, which in turn when i try to open the file it doesn't recognize that the file exist...
Dim Path As String = "C:UsersstefanDesktopUni WorkYear 4ProjectsProject SelectionProjectProjectinDebug" Shapetext = clickedShapes.Item(nextShape).Text.ToString.Substring(0, clickedShapes.Item(nextShape).Text.IndexOf(" ")) MsgBox(Path + Shapetext + ".txt")
How can I create a DLL declare statement with an environmental variable in it so as to make sure that I'm loading the system DLL from the right place, the system32 folder? For instance...
Declare Function GetExtendedTcpTable Lib "iphlpapi.dll" Alias "GetExtendedTcpTable" (ByVal tcpTable As IntPtr, ByRef tcpTableLength As Integer, ByVal sort As Boolean, ByVal ipVersion As Integer, ByVal tcpTableType As TcpTableType, ByVal reserved As Integer) As UInteger
The reason I'm asking is that there has been talk about people injecting invalid/malicious DLLs into folders along with applications and whatnot and I see this as an issue if you don't specify the SYSTEM directory. Yeah, I could specify it to load from c:windowssystem32 but what happens if a person doesn't have their Windows installed in c:windows? Hence the reason to use an environmental variable to find system32.
i need to change the "PATH" environment variable in a VB program (Visual Studio 2008). Here is the code i use to add the "C:TEST" folder at the end of the existing one.
test Dim PathVal As String PathVal = Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("Path", EnvironmentVariableTarget.User)
Reading a .txt file in VB.net. My file path is C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt.
This is my line of Dim LoanOptionsFile As String = "C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt"
I can read the file when I run the program, but how do I write the file path so that someone else can download my program and file and read the file on their system?
i have this error in the line of with xl.active......Object variable or With block variable not set.
Dim xl As Object xl = CreateObject("Excel.Application") With xl.ActiveSheet.QueryTables.Add(Connection:= _ "TEXT;C:Documents and SettingsUserDesktop429MEDICA2.TXT", _ Destination:=xl.Range("$A$1"))
I have the following code that I am using to parse out a test file. I am getting variable conversion error in Sub Main() when I assign file = Read(). The return value of Read() is a TextFieldParser type. How do I assign the proper variable type to "file" so I can write the output to a text file?
Function Read() Using MyReader As New FileIO.TextFieldParser("C:UsersColinDesktopParse_Me.txt") Dim currentRow As String
I want to created a nested class that can only be visible to and instantiated from the parent class.But I also want to be able to use an instance of the nested class through a public variable of the parent class.I tried making the nested class private, or making the nested class' constructor private, but it won't compile.Is it possible to do this in .NET?
I have three class files, accounts.vb and transactions.vb in addition to my form.vb. I am unable to retrieve a member variable from on class from inside the other. When the combobox index changes, the program loads the correct account (checking or saving) from two different sequential files. I don't think I have the calcBalance procedure in the correct class file. And that is what I am having trouble with. Accessing it to display it. [Code]
