Unable To Rename A File After Storing Path In An Object Array?

Feb 10, 2010

I create a string array from a bunch of files that were dropped on a control after that i use a loops to pass that data into an array of my pictureObjects object (just stores filePath info and some other things).for some reason after it's been passed to the control the "My.Computer.FileSystem.RenameFile" doesn't seem to work at all... it's a valid file name and everthing.

Dim sFileArray() As String = e.Data.GetData(DataFormats.FileDrop)

'load sFileArray into new array of picureObjects
ReDim dropedPicture(sFileArray.Length)
Dim dropedOnPictureBox As Integer[code]......

ASP.NET Page Change Causes An Object Array In Session To Be Unable To Cast To It's Own Type?

Nov 11, 2009

I am storing an array of a custom serializable class in session on my site. When a page on the site changes, suddenly it renders them invalid, and tells me that it can't cast the type to it's own type. I assume the class version numbers are changing or something?!

I'm not trying to redesign this whole process.

Unable to cast object of type 'ShipmentPackages[]' to type 'ShipmentPackages[]'.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Error : Unable To Cast Object Of Type 'Object' To 'CTest'

Feb 22, 2012

I have

Public stack() As CTest

I want

Public stack() As Object

The latter is giving the error "Unable to cast object of type 'Object' to 'CTest'." when used:

Dim thestack As CTest() = testdatabase.getStack
Where testdatabase.getStack simply returns stack();
Public Function getStack() As Object()
Return stack
End Function

This fixes it, but it's not ideal (for me personally):

Dim thestack As Object() = testdatabase.getStack

So if I could keep the variable as-is (Public stack() As Object) and then do something along the lines of class.stack() = CTest I should be able to do Dim thestack As CTest() = testdatabase.getStack because the object array will programmatically have changed from Object to CTest.

.net - Storing An Object To Use In Multiple Classes?

Mar 23, 2010

I am wondering the best way to store an object in memory that is used in a lot of classes throughout an application. We have multiple databases, 1 per customer. We also have a master table and each row is detailed information about the databases such as database name, server IP it's located and a few config settings.

I have an application that loops through those multiple databases and runs some updates on them. The settings I mentioned above are updated each loop iteration into memory. The application then runs through series of processes that include multiple classes using this data. The data never changes during the processes, only during the loop iteration.

The variables are related to a customer, so I have them stored in a customer class. I suppose I could make all of the members shared or should I use a singleton for the customer class? I've never actually used a singleton, only read they are good in this type of situation. Are there better solutions to this type of scenario? Also, I could have plans for this application to be multithreaded later.

Asp.net - Storing A Custom Object In A Web Application

Jun 14, 2012

I am at a new company and I am building a wizard for a web app, (.Net/4.0). The user goes to a few separate screens during the wizard process and must return to the original screen before completion of the wizard. This is different from how they normally do this. But this is how it is TO BE DONE.

One option is to store the result of each panel in the main screen in the DB. So then, when the user leaves & redirects back. I could check for a querystring then call a datareader and populate original values appropriately.

VS 2010 Storing Controllists In An Object?

Jul 25, 2010

My understanding of classes/objects is that you create a class that acts as a "template".From there you simply declare an object of that class and operate directly on that object.eg, object.methods, object.properties etc.That's my limited understanding.I've got a huge form in another project that is crying out for a decent class structure to hold references to a multitude of numbered textboxes.

Storing And Displaying Array In GUI

Apr 25, 2011

I need to construct a small program that "stores" entered test scores into the program then when a button is clicked, it will display the scores with the appropriate names in the box below. The values are the names "Brian" "james" "jimmy" "jock" and "gok" and there are two test scores "main test" "small test".. I need to be able to "store" these in a "database" and then when the user clicks "show marks" it displays all the names with the marks in a table format. I'm totally screwed and i dont know where to start..I already have done a little coding for the gui such as a password entering system and all that works, all I need now is this storing thing.

Storing Data In An Array And Comparing It To Another One?

Oct 15, 2011

I have a whole bunch of information that has been parsed from a web page and i want to insert the data into a multi-demensional array and the compare the data of a certain array element to another array in the same format to determine which is missing/added.So if i have this:

Type of animal | Color | Age
Cat, Brown, 15
Dog, Pink, 6
Fish, Orange, 4

[code].....

I only want to compare the type of the animal and the color and age is irrelevant.I want it to let me know whats missing and what's been added.Sounds bizarre but yeah. It doesn't need to be arrays, it's the only thing i know of though.
