In my datagriedview i have 5 column called T,C,F,S and H.
I want to specify in column C that the user must enter 3 digit. For column H the maximun value should be 2000 so user should not enter more than 2000.
how i can specify this condition for my datagriedview column?

The validation of the user at the logIn form and tha connection with form1 works perfectly but here's my problem.When a user is valid I want to appear at the datagriedview of form1 only the records that have to do with him.I forget to mention that TaxPayer table has 3 columns,username,password and and a code(AFM). i'm using VB.NET with an Access Database, I insert values but then I need to get the last inserted ID (auto number) and insert that into a related table.I have tried @@IDENTITY and MAX(column) but @@IDENTITY returns zero and MAX isn't very dependable (sometimes slow to insert data, so get the ID before the inserted one).

This is done in two functions so the above code might look confusing, but thats just taken from the two functions. First form has 1 listbox and 2 buttons. Second form has 1 datagridview and 1 button. The first form opens the csv and list the location+filename of the CSV file. When the CSV files are listed in the listbox, the user can edit the selected csv file in listbox through edit button, when edit button is pressed, the second form will show as dialog and automatically opens the CSV files in DataGridView. The user will edit some fields and save and the second form will autoclose. Now here's the problem, when i select another CSV file in the listbox and press the edit button, the previous CSV still shows, even other CSV files I select, still the previous CSV file was showing.

I am trying to check whether a row is getting inserted into my database. It is throwing an error even when it does insert (it's a database issue that will get resolved later when I get a newer version of Microsoft Access), so I can't check whether the insert is successful based on whether there's an error or not. I think I need to check the AffectedRows of something, but I'm not sure what. I've been looking for info on how to do this but I can't figure out how to make it work for my exact situation. But the numInserted is coming out as 0 every time even though the insert is successful. It may have to do with the fact that myIns1.ExecuteNonQuery() throws an error even though the insert is successful.
-EDIT- I discovered that the "duplicate values" error is because it is somehow attempting to insert the record twice. I have no idea why it's doing that though.

I've got a vb project I am updating and it has a datagridview, a panel, and buttons along the bottom. The buttons control CRUD operations. The panel shows numerical up/downs and textboxes to represent the selected row. I use some logic to keep track of current selected row and current row index for timer updates in the background. Upon delete I reset focus on the first row. Upon loading I set focus on first row. On update I keep current row focus.
Upon a good insert I would like to set the focus to the row I just inserted. But I do not know a way to determine what the rowindex value is for this freshly inserted row. My datatable which the datagridview uses is sorted on two id columns so it's not like the new entry will just jump to the bottom. Any ideas on how I can implement this?

View 6 RepliesI'm working on a project where I've loaded a database into a DGV. I also have an additional unbound checkbox column for the users to select entries with. I have code in place to read the selected rows and save them into a CSV string, which is then saved in the usersettings. All this works fine.
PROBLEM AREA:
I'm trying to reverse this effect so that when the DGV loads, the checkboxes that the user selected previously are checked (and the others left unchecked). I've debugged this extensively, and using watches have confirmed that all the values in the loops are right, and the conditionals are all kicking correctly, but it seems the code I'm using to actually check the boxes doesn't work. I've searched dozens of web pages, msdn white papers, and forums, but no suggestions will check the darned box. Below is some example code.[CODE...]
In debugging, it seems the value for the Cells IS changed, but the checkbox never gets selected. The try/catch was just to pick any error messages (but there are none with this code). What am I doing wrong here?

(I don't want to add unnecessary rows to the database in the event a person clicks Cancel.) What I need to do is on the deletion of a row in the datagridview, search through the rows "Position" for a "HJ" value. If it's not found, change the "Position" value of the first row to be "HJ".

I have an access project. I'm trying to figure out the proper way of using an ADODB.Recordset to control data in a subform. For example, I want the user to be able to make additions, deletions, and updates to a subform datasheet. However, if the user presses "CANCEL" from the main form, then I want the data to be replaced with the old data. Likewise, if the user presses "Save" from the main form, then I want to update the database at that time only. The only way i know to do this will update the database after every row is updated. Can I not use CancelBatch and UpdateBacth?

I have the following set of code for a Sub program. It's inserting a row into a MSAccess Database using data provided in the containing form. What I would like to do is grab the ID number of this added record so that it can be set for a property of a window that is invoked when successfully added. View 4 RepliesI have a form with multiple tabs that allows the user to insert data into a customer table.The ID is an Identity column. After a row is inserted into the database I would like to retrieve the ID number for that row that was just inserted into the database. Can you tell me the best way to do this?When the user clicks on a Relatives tab the application inserts the customer to the database. If I can get the the newly inserted customer ID then I can use it for the CustomerID column of the Relatives table when inserting a Relative so the 2 tables are properly related. At present the program uses this code to do just that but this code will only be good for a single user system. It's possible that we may sell it as a multi-user system and I think the current way we are doing this will fail because there is not telling whose ID will be returned in that scenario.
