Usage Of InternetGetCookieEx - Just Return False No Exception. Nothing
Dec 16, 2009
It just return false no exception. Nothing.
Declare Function InternetGetCookieEx Lib "wininet.dll" Alias "InternetGetCookieExA" (ByVal pchURL As String, ByVal pchCookieName As String, ByVal pchCookieData As System.Text.StringBuilder, ByRef pcchCookieData As System.UInt32, ByRef dwFlags As System.UInt32, ByVal lpReserved As Integer) As Boolean
Public Function GetUriCookieContainer(Optional ByVal uri As String = "") As String
Dim result As Boolean
Dim cookiedatasb As System.Text.StringBuilder
I'm making a Visual Basic GUI application to display whether a number of my ports are open for people to know whether things like my website and my Minecraft server are open.My problem is I have absolutely no idea how to do this in Visual Basic.Basically, I'm asking for something which sends a signal to an IP with a specific port, if it is open then return true, if it's closed, return false. Similar to: http:[url]....
'this throws an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"-Exception'
[Code]....
A CType(obj, Boolean) would evaluate to False(just as CBool(obj)), i think because the compiler uses a helper function, but that is not my theme. Why does casting Nothing to Boolean evaluates to False, whereas casting an object that is Nothing to Boolean throws an Nullreference-Exception? Does that make sense?
I have a fairly complex application which makes use of an MS Access database. My application generates some 14million entries and inserts them after each generation, into the database. The app works perfectly without any bugs(that I am aware of) apart from one problem. If I run the app and let it run the full 14million odd data entries, the app crashes some way through and gives an Out of Memory exception.
I then loaded up TaskManager and notice that the memory usage increases by about 8-15Kb per second. I have done some reading and have tried using Dispose() to get rid of any objects finished with, I have tried building in release mode and the problem remains. I'm not even really sure if it is a memory leak or something else. I am using VS2010 and my application is running in .net 4.0.
I have a HTTP class that gets content from URL's, POST's content to URL's etc and then returns the raw HTML content. In the function inside of the class it detects if there is a HTTP error and if so I would like to return false but will this work if I have declared the function to return a String?
Code Sample of what I am trying to do (Note the Return Content & Return False if a HTTP error code is detected)Public Function Get_URL(ByVal URL As String) As String
I'm calling Sqlcommand.ExecScalar() - stepping through the stored proc works fine, right under
RETURN @RecordNum
@RecordNum correctly contains a bigint, as scoped. When I step into the RETURN.. I get an exception thrown, that visual studio does not seem to be able to capture.
The stored procedure works fine when executed directly, and returns a value without problem, and it seems like all is well, stepping through it from my code.
But as soon as I step into 'RETURN @RecordNum' (and recordnum contains a valid number..) BOOM! EXCEPTION! (and no details in the exception either back in visual studio.
I'm blaming a glitch in the matrix.
I've turned off even assigned the return from the ExecScalar to anything, same result.. I've tried ExecReader(), same result. I have turned NO COUNT on and off, same result. If I wasn't already bald, I would be now!
I have a windows service written in .NET 2.0 that will run every 5 minutes and executes bunch oracle SQL/PLSQL scripts based on time/validation, it throws the above said error some times against some SQLs, the same SQLs run fine at later point without any error, I have no idea what is going on with the app. I am not sure if this has any thing to do with oracle connection pool as I am properly closing the connections after every SQL execution.
Exception:
System.Exception: Unexpected return code: 1 at System.Data.OracleClient.DBObjectPool.GetObject(Object owningObject, Boolean& isInTransaction) at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleConnectionPoolManager.GetPooledConnection(String encryptedConnectionString,
It is possible to catch an exception and throw a new exception which wraps the first exception as an inner exception: [URL] Also, if I call a function and it throws a certain error, but I catch it, will the calling code's catch handler execute? If so, and it is of a higher exception type, is this not wrapping the exception? eg I can throw exception ex of type IndexOutOfRange, log it but rethrow, catch a higher up exception and do something, or I can throw a new exception and wrap an inner exception like:
I'm working up a system where I plan on using RealProxy objects to enable intercepting method calls against a set of objects, handling the call, and then returning appropriate results. This works just find for simple return types like strings or ints, but I can't seem to return objects from the RealProxy.Invoke method. Everything works. I get no errors, but the returned value is always NOTHING, instead of an object.
I've worked up the smallest sample code I could, and have included it below. Essentially, just call RPtest and single step through. The code creates a simple object, RPTestA, with a string field and an object valued field It then retrieves the string
I have a large project where we have 2-3 dll projects that are converted from VB6 to VB.NET. We have fixed all the issues that caused compilation errors, and most of obvious issues in running, so now we have basically a program up and running. The exe is created from scratch in VB.NET, using a lot of functionality from the converted dll's (including GUI forms). What I wonder is when I run the program in debug mode, I get a bunch of warnings in the "Immediate Window" saying:
A first chance exception of type 'System.Exception' occurred in Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll
...and some of other type (but most of them in Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll).I was wondering if this is common in projects converted from VB6, or if it is caused by bad design in our code...
When I try to create a instance of a COM class it throws an exception as Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG))

I'm trying to catch a user defined permission exception - i.e. a user does something their level of system access won't allow, permission exception is thrown. My problem is, the exception is caught and then rethrown as a genertic System.Exception.Is there any way I can deduce the original exception type, without resorting to string comparisons, like if ex.ToString.Contains("Permission denied"
When catching an exception in .net, you can have as many type-specific exception blocks as needed. But I usually try to have at least one "general" exception catch block. But is there a way to get the type of the "real" exception thrown that is caught by the generic exception handler, perhaps using reflection? For example, if I have
Catch ex As System.ServiceModel.FaultException(Of InvalidUser) ProcessModuleLoadException(Me, ex) Catch ex As System.ServiceModel.FaultException(Of SQLExceptions)
I have written a program which uses a SQL exception class and then use it show custom messages for the primary key violation. Also i want the primary key value that caused the violation. How can i get all the primary keys which generated the exception from the sqlexception object.[code]
I am getting below exception when i am going to enter record in a table through StoredProceduer of sqlserver i have a field which i need u update immediately after insert of new record in table. for that i created a sotredprocedure in which i wrote insert command first and after that i wrote a update command for same recored but it gave me below error SQlException: Transaction count after EXECUTE indicates a mismatching number of BEGIN and COMMIT statements. Previous count = 1, current count = 2. Uncommittable transaction is detected at the end of the batch. The transaction is rolled back. Some Error in stored procedure execution
In this discussion let us discuss every usage of interfaces in .NET. Any real time examples and difficulties in using interfaces can also be discussed here.
How would i moniter how long a user uses my program and when it reaches a hour it will close the program, but then the user will have to wait 24 hours before they can gain accesss to the form again perhaps open a msgbox that shows how long is left till it can be used I like.. [code]...
