View 6 Repliesi am trying to get the font from a label's text to be read into the text.. i can add the font to the label with this code:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim myfontdialog As New FontDialog
With myfontdialog
[code]....
but reading it from the label and setting the font to the textbox, is the problem i am facing. i know the code does not read the font as it is displayed in the label's text, so it might be possible to just get the font name in one label, and font size in another, just by locating those two. this i have an idea how to do, just do not know how... if you have a solution on how to locate these two, and add them separately.. getting the font to the label this way, does not show the option of the selection for the font style.. i have tried using my.settings to do so, problem there as well.. basically, i want to be able to save the font selected, and next time the app loads, it loads with those those settings.
i like: VB General google fast cars username password
I want to create a guy with register cards for my menus.
As you can see in the example, each menu button is an icon with label and marked when selected.
1. How do I do this in Visual Studio 2010?
I'm working on my first VB.NET 2.0 WinForm app. I'm trying to validate some input and I came across this fancy Error Provider control that seems great. However I have a problem with it. It seems that it only validates a field when it loses focus. I'm used to Web Form programming and using validation controls on it, but I don't see these in WinForms.

I have downloaded and played with the standard MS Examples in the VS2008 Download pages.They are very good for some areas but a little light in database handling.
1) Search Grid plus the Record Selected Display (this is beyond the scope of MIcrosofts VS2008 Examples)
2) Using plain ADO commands with VS2008 (rather than all the fancy data controls)
3) Using Stored Procedures rather than all the fancy data controls
4) Database Access Examples
My application area of interest is mainly ERP, Accounting and CRM Systems
I'm working on a project for school. One part of the assignment is to change the font of the value in a textbox, the font on a label, etc. Which I can do. However, I wanted to add a feature that restores the original values. I was having trouble knowing what to call that or how to access that info.
I'm using the FontDialog box. So I can have the user select a font and change whatever I let them. But I want to have a reset button or something that sets it back the way it was. How do I access that value?
is there an easy way to set the font size of a textbox.
i tried this
textbox1.font.size=10
but it says that size is read only but there has to be a way to set it.
Has anyone managed to modify the default font size for a AutoComplete TextBox, Windows Forms.

The other problem I am having is (how) to get these sorted according to the Number shown with the ABC, EGF etc,. They should be arranged either in ascending order or descending order.Each one is displayed as a String ("ABC : 12" is a String but "ABC" is a String and "12" is a Double converted to String).

View 1 RepliesI am looking for special tag codes that can be used to define certain words in a diffierent font format, like bold, italic, etc. I have a special command that accepts initial tag and end tag to these special words.So, these tags must be interpreted by textbox in VB to turn some words in bold, for instance, and change back to normal font after those words.
The command I have is:
textbox.text = data_base_name.FieldByName("field_name").HighlightedString(index as long, start_tag as string, end_tag as string)
The effect in the textbox should be like this:
Example of special word in bold.Any one knows about the existance of these special tag codes? I wonder if there is something like old DOS Codes, or ANSI, that can be recognized in VB textboxes.
I have a RTB (RTB1). I have a "change font" button which allow the user to change the font of what ever text is selected in RTB1. It works just fine.Now I have added a second RTB on the same form. Of course that original "change font" button does not work because it works on RTB1, not RTB2. I know I could put a second button to change font in RTB2, but I would like a more elegant solution. How can I tell which RTB box I was in when i clicked on the "Change font" button?
