Jan 22, 2009I am just trying to get the system to open a database and I get this error:
A first chance exception of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException' occurred in System.Data.dll

the error is generated at the open method note* this same code works fine in another computer, the main difference is that this one has a 64 bit OS.

searchtable_command = New SqlClient.SqlCommand(searchtable_string, testsearch_connection)
Error:'System.Data.Odbc.OdbcConnection' cannot be converted to 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection'.
Here my connection string:

Jan 10, 2011im having some problems using the data adapter. i tried a statement select 1'test' but when i do adapter.Fill(dataset, "tbl1") and tried to read the value from the first row in tbl1.hen i do row(0) i can retrieve the value. However if i do it by the name like sayrow("test") and i would get a dbnull.

So,Is importing a namespace and adding a reference two different things?

I also added a reference to System.Data.SqlClient and also imported it into the class file.I am getting an error and I have never seen it before. May 4, 2007Is there something wrong with my connection string that I would get this exception thrown back at me from my code? May 19, 2010My application requires a user to log in and allows them to edit a list of things. However, it seems that if the same user always logs in and out and edits the list, this user will run into a "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired." error. I've read a comment about it possibly caused by uncommitted transactions. And I do have one going in the application.

Mar 28, 2011I can't seem to get it to recognize System.Data.OracleClient. I downloaded and installed the 11gR2, added a reference to Oracle.DataAccess. Looks like there is a 4.112.1.2 and a 2.112.1.2 versions. I'm tried adding both to the project, but neither are giving me access to that assembly. i.e.

May 20, 2011Does anyone know why on earth in my linq to sql designer classes, that I am getting type not exist for any system, system.data, system.data.linq nameapces?I am trying to convert a website to a web application and this has me stumped. In order to create an object I have to use the Global. prefix on all the namespaces.
