I have the database all linked and all the cells connect, but now I need to make it so when people login it will search the database for their username and password to verify the user. View 3 RepliesI'm trying to write vb code to verify a password input by a user to known table passwords in access database. The form has a drop down combo box that has userID's that are selectable. I'm trying to get the index number out of the combo box selection and use that to look up what the password should be. With that information i can then compare the stored password with the password typed into the text box below the combo box. All of the examples i've found that direct me show the code in regular Visual Basic. I'm using Visual Basic 2010 with the .net architecture.

So I want to have the user type in his username in usernametextbox.text and password in passwordtextbox.text then have the program search through the xml file for a match loginID (username) and password. View 29 RepliesI have a chat server / client system running, but I want users to authenticate with my vBulletin forum database.I don't want the client to do it, because it is possible to fake the 'successful login' and connect with a fake username. I want to send the username and password details to the server, and make the server check it with the local vBulletin MySQL database for the username and password.Is there a way to do this? To my knowledge vBulletin has a username and a password entries in the database which is salted, and the salt varies from user to user.

5) HERE is the problem. I do not know how to check if the specific username and the password are correct. I have a file called "Users.dat". In there every valid Username(marked with a *) and it's Password(marked with a #) is contained e.g.*Username#Password.
I want my "Log In" program to check if the Username matches one of the usernames and if the username is found in the file, if the password provided is the same as the one standing behind the Username in the file.

I have a login form that I made. The user enters a username in textbox1 and then enters a password in textbox2. The user then hits the submit button (button2) and from there it works beautifully. The problem is, I would also like the user to be able to hit the "enter" key after they fill out the password textbox (textbox2) and have it be like they pressed the submit button. When the user hits enter right now, the form hides.

(They can also have points deducted for bad behavior). I've created all the forms and now its just getting the data in from the Access database. This is what I need to do. On my form called detailsPupil it shows various information such as Name, email address, last login etc. This form is loaded once the pupil has logged in.
