Forms :: Using Database To Verify Password Input By User?

I'm trying to write vb code to verify a password input by a user to known table passwords in access database. The form has a drop down combo box that has userID's that are selectable. I'm trying to get the index number out of the combo box selection and use that to look up what the password should be. With that information i can then compare the stored password with the password typed into the text box below the combo box. All of the examples i've found that direct me show the code in regular Visual Basic. I'm using Visual Basic 2010 with the .net architecture.

working on a March Madness Program and need help searching the database. I have the database all linked and all the cells connect, but now I need to make it so when people login it will search the database for their username and password to verify the user. My database is in access is called MarchMadness, with the table being tblUser and the column's are "username" and "password"

I need some help with the input validation of my application. Attached is the code that I have written as well as a screenshot of the front end. I specifically need input validation to verify that the user selected input for cbLengthOfStay is a number between 1-10 as well as input validation to verify the user input for txtMedication, txtSurgicalCharges, txtLabFees and txtRehabilitation is a positive numerical number. I'm using VB 2010 and need to multiply 2 user input numbers in forms, so basically: TextBox5 = TextBox2 * TextBox3 That obviously didn't work but it shows what I want it to do.

I have to do for my project I am working on is to verify my user name and password on my loginform with the user name and password in my customerc.xml file. So I want to have the user type in his username in usernametextbox.text and password in passwordtextbox.text then have the program search through the xml file for a match loginID (username) and password. If no match is found show error message and if a match is found then frmCustomermaintenance.show

I have a form1 that logs in the user to my hotmail/live email sender. In form1 I have 2 textboxes. First ask for email address for live/hotmail and the other ask for the password. Then it takes you to form2 (email sender). My problem is if the user enters a wrong password or email the program still takes them to form2... hence the program wont work if they try to send an email.. Is there a way I can verify if at form1 that the email and password is correct before it moves on the form2?

how to do different things and right now I'm building a simple program to where the user inputs thier First and last name into two different text boxes and when they click on a button it tells them what they have entered.I'm trying to make sure that they have entered letters only in each text box and if they don't I want it to display a message box that says they need to enter letters only.The problem I am having is if they enter a number in both text boxes then that is the only way that it will display the error message box. Trying to imitate a Messagebox - in that, a sub will not continue until the user "deals with" the pop up.
For example, in a sub, I want a Form to pop up, and ask a user a question, and give them 3 options. I want to make it so the user must click an option, and then the sub that called it can carry on it's way.
I believe I need a function to make this happen.

I'm developing a windows forms application using VB.NET. I'm currently working on DataReport (by Microsoft, not Crystal). Everything works fine when using DataSet as DataSource. But I have a question on how am I going to put data to my DataReport from a user input? Preferably when the user is on the act of printing(clicking the print button in the ReportViewer), a Form will pop-up and ask him for input. That input I'm talking about is random names of people, and we don't have to track their names so there's no reason to put it on the database.
Here's my simple setup:
MainForm.vb (Form)
MyReportViewer (ReportViewer)
MyReport.rdlc (DataReport)

If it is impossible to do it on the act of printing. Maybe on the MainForm_Load event or before the generation of report can do.

I have a problem with the code, I have input the valid username and password in the form textbox to input the strings in php, but it keep displaying the messagebox that says login failed.

I am trying to figure out how to generate code from user input. In Visual Studio 2008, Visual Basic.My script always begins with:function Init (Quest)Then from here a user would input a quest name, type and zone in a interface using windows forms.[code]I would also like to have these available on the UI but wont generate unless a user checks a box to add them or there is a box already for them but wont step into the code unless the user enters something into the box.Is there anyone that can explain how I would go about doing this. I have combo box that populate from database by user input, the problem is when I type "food" and "food" is not found in queries the caret will always go to default writing place. And if my search doesn't find anything I got error "Value of '0' is not valid for 'index'. Parameter name: index".

I've been working on an application for awhile that, basically, allows the viewing and printing of a maintenance database. It allows the user to view basic information for the object and then view the maintenance history. My approach for the maintenance history is simply to have unique tables per object since a history has to be kept for each, however, I'm running into a problem in the application that allows the user to view the general information from one DB and the Maintenance history from the other DB.
Say you have Object ID BG1. I can enter the object ID into a search field, pull the data from the general DB and display the data, but I also need it to pull the information from the maintenance history and display. If maintenance history for this object is not found, then create a new table within the DB, fill the columns with the required fields and allow for the user to edit the history.

I have not been able to successfully verify a user with LDAP for an ASP.NET web application. I have done so on our own network against Active Directory, but this is against a server outside of our network that is OID (Oracle Internet Directory).Usually, I use the following code with no problem.

I am writing an Excel addin to read/insert/update/delete SQL data. I am looking for tips or code samples to check if the user running the addin has select/insert/update/delete permissions. this would work on SQL 2000, 2005 and 2008. I have found the following which works for SQL 2005 (and likely 2008, though I have not tested).

I am looking to create a simple password box that will ask the user for a username and pass, if the user is validated against the usernames and passwords in an .ini file the login box will close and launch a program also stated in the .ini file. I have several text boxes which a user is supposed to input a numeric value and the program will use an array to verify whether the input in each text box falls within the numeric range allowed for that text box. So one text box will only accept number 3-7 and i'm supposed to create an array that will verify the input in that text box falls within that range. Personally, I would just do:

But this isn't what the assignment asks.
