I'm using VB 2010 and need to multiply 2 user input numbers in forms, so basically: TextBox5 = TextBox2 * TextBox3 That obviously didn't work but it shows what I want it to do.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to write vb code to verify a password input by a user to known table passwords in access database. The form has a drop down combo box that has userID's that are selectable. I'm trying to get the index number out of the combo box selection and use that to look up what the password should be. With that information i can then compare the stored password with the password typed into the text box below the combo box. All of the examples i've found that direct me show the code in regular Visual Basic. I'm using Visual Basic 2010 with the .net architecture.
View 3 RepliesI'm developing a windows forms application using VB.NET. I'm currently working on DataReport (by Microsoft, not Crystal). Everything works fine when using DataSet as DataSource. But I have a question on how am I going to put data to my DataReport from a user input? Preferably when the user is on the act of printing(clicking the print button in the ReportViewer), a Form will pop-up and ask him for input. That input I'm talking about is random names of people, and we don't have to track their names so there's no reason to put it on the database.
Here's my simple setup:
MainForm.vb (Form)
MyReportViewer (ReportViewer)
MyReport.rdlc (DataReport)

If it is impossible to do it on the act of printing. Maybe on the MainForm_Load event or before the generation of report can do.

View 2 Replies2 forms, on the first form I have a listbox which recieves it's items from a datagridview, when I click on a button all the items (in the listbox) are converted to a string and add to a richtextbox on the second form.
On the second form I have also a numericupdown, and here is what I run into.
With the numericupdown I want to multiply or remove blocks of strings from the richtextbox.
For example, when clicked on the button (form1) a string is add to the richtextbox, when I click (on form2) on the upbutton of the numericupdown I want to add the same string again below the existing one with 2 blank lines between them (this can be down a lot of times). When I click the downbutton, a string should be removed.
In short term, the amount in the numericupdown should be the amount of string blocks in the richtextbox.
Here is the code I use to copy listbox.items to string and add them to the richtextbox:

We have an application that has a main form with a map on it. Right now the paradigm is to have forms that are displayed using menu items to display information to the user. Most of these forms are modal forms, but a couple are non-modal forms that interact with the map. For some of the forms, it really would make for a better user experience if we could dock them in the main form of the app and allow the user to see both the form and the map. For instance. We could have a list of map features in a docked window, and select one of the items on the list and have the map zoom to that feature. Or do the reverse: let the users select a map item and have a docked window that shows details of the feature. Sounds great, but I wonder about what sort of gotchas we may encounter. In particular, what if we have two windows docked at the same time? Could we get tangled up in our event code?

The only part I'm struggling with is I'm supposed to make copies of the array after the user is done inputting the numbers. These copies has to be sized exactly to how many numbers the user input. Am I supposed to use a counting variable and if so how?

I'm not exactly sure what this code is doing. When I put 1 in the first number and 10 in the second number, the odd label only shows 9 and the even label only shows 10. Another example is when I put 2 and 15, the odd label comes out as 15 and the even label is 14. I'm very new to VB and programming in general and have just started getting into for...next loops and don't fully understand what the counter is or how the loop is supposed to work. I guess I'm having 2 problems. One is that I don't know how to make the program find the right numbers(my logic is off? or how I set up the loop isn't right?) and the other is the labels are showing only 1 number each instead of all the numbers in between on their own line.
I am new to VB.Net and programming all together. I am trying to make a program that will take 2 numbers input by the user, Add them together and display the sum. Then take the sum and divide it individually by each number to give you what percent of the sum the numbers are. I'm looking forward to reading and adding more to the community here. I've created a text based rpg. Next semester we are learning Visual Basic. I'm on winter break and I would like to get a head start on my learning. I've been working on creating some forms and message boxes. What is throwing me off, is that I have a good feel for doing coding so that I get functionality the will produce effects in a console. Coding the forms is a bit confusing for me. Is this something that others have run into? Is their some good primers for VB? I don't have my text books yet.

I will post most of my code so you can get an over view but i mostly just want help on this one little part for now. It's line 26 and 27 that this is relating to. When i put a stop in my code and look at the result of arrayDifferences it gives me 0.0 when it should be -1. I know i can go this route and say arrayDifferences(1) = arrayDifferences(1) - arrayAvg but seeing as how i want this to be a random number of numbers input by the user i cant do that.

Anyway, we are doing loops now and the problem reads "Write a program to request positive numbers one at a time from the user in an input dialog box. Now I know this isn't right But I can't find out how I'd pull out the numbers the user entered to get the sum of them and not include -1 because as it stands, when I hit ENTER with -1 the label just shows -1.
