User To Be Able To Add/remove An Employee Record And Update The Input File Before The Program Is Closed?
Apr 25, 2011I'm trying to create a program, that upon opening, will read an input file containing a delimited employee record. The record will contain the name of the employee, their salary and the number of years they have been employed.I'm looking to display only the name of the employees in sorted order(alphabetically) and then when the user of the program selects a particular employee, I want to display the salary and number of years for that employee.I would like the user to be able to edit the recors for the employee and I would also like to have a way for the user to be able to add/remove an employee record and update the input file before the program is closed.

Jul 14, 2010I doing some maintenance work on a vb .net web app and receive a system.formatexception input string was not in a correct format error after I update a row from a GridView control. The database update returns fine and I've stepped through the code and it never throws an error but when execution finishes and returns to the browser I get the following. I turned on the feature to break when an exception occurs but it never does break. Any suggestions? [Code]

Jun 17, 2010I'm trying to write vb code to verify a password input by a user to known table passwords in access database. The form has a drop down combo box that has userID's that are selectable. I'm trying to get the index number out of the combo box selection and use that to look up what the password should be. With that information i can then compare the stored password with the password typed into the text box below the combo box. All of the examples i've found that direct me show the code in regular Visual Basic. I'm using Visual Basic 2010 with the .net architecture.

Dec 3, 2009I've been working on an application for awhile that, basically, allows the viewing and printing of a maintenance database. It allows the user to view basic information for the object and then view the maintenance history. My approach for the maintenance history is simply to have unique tables per object since a history has to be kept for each, however, I'm running into a problem in the application that allows the user to view the general information from one DB and the Maintenance history from the other DB.
Say you have Object ID BG1. I can enter the object ID into a search field, pull the data from the general DB and display the data, but I also need it to pull the information from the maintenance history and display. If maintenance history for this object is not found, then create a new table within the DB, fill the columns with the required fields and allow for the user to edit the history.

Database "update" Button To Validate The Input Before Applying It To The Dataset ?
Jan 22, 2009Ok, so I have created an Access database, and everything is working fine (much to my amazement) except for one thing. I want the database "update" button to validate the input before applying it to the dataset, and if there is an error (empty field) I want it to pop a message and highlight the text box in question where the error occured (there are 7 textboxes).
How precisely do I go about doing that?

I cannot figure out how to incorporate the number of days into the input box then get it to loop and count the number of times the User inputs in the number of days. Then I have to incorporate it into the equation to get the total distance D = MPH * Hours. What I have right now wil not count up the number of days and locks up after I input one number and will not add anything to the listbox. Because I also have to make sure that they cant add nonnumaric values and the number of hours per day cannot exceed 20. I have put things in and taken them out but it has been 2 days and I am lost now

Does anyone have any idea what might be useful. It was thinks of a listview bu i can't see that you can type into that. I cant use comboboxs because there are no predefined list and i know there is some way to generate text at runtime (i think) but i don't know how to do it and i would prefer a clearer approach.

May 20, 2010I have some update panels on my page that do some asyncpostbacks to keep some dropdownlists correctly populated. My problem is that on my page i have an HTML input that is handling some file uploads. With the AJAX on the page with asyncpostbacks, and while i step through my code behind, the files arent being uploaded. Using a postbacktrigger (non-async) is not possible because of my layout.

When I put a breakpoint in at the declaration of service and then check the value of "files", the count is 0. I am expecting it to be 2 when i have one file uploaded.
Databound Combobox Doesn't Update Properly Depending On Input Meth

The problem is that when one navigates the combobox via the keyboard, the combobox's information doesn't update. If you click a value with your mouse, though, everything works wonderfully. The link I've mentioned suggests changing the binding from the Text property to the SelectedItem property. I'm very deep into this project and it would be a bit of a nuisance to change the setup so as to allow it to be bound to the SelectedItem property.What I'm wondering is whether or not I can detect the user changing the selected entry in the combobox and tell VB that they "clicked" the value, if that makes any sense.
