basicly im attempting to make a key encoder type application that i want to begin encrypting keystrokes when the user focuses on a password field . Is it possible for a windows forms application to do this and if so how can it be done ?

I have created my own virtural keyboard for a touch screen interface. I used two forms,one for the main program and one for my keyboard so the keyboard will have opacity of 90%.in my main program form's login screen, i have two textboxs, one for username one for password. the password is a textbox with UseSystemPasswordChar property set to True.I used the technique descripted here: How to: Simulate Mouse and Keyboard Events in Code to send a keycode to different form window.
1. get window handler using FindWindow()
2. set main program form as focused window by SetForgoundWindow()
3. then sendkeys.send(keycodes)
it worked perfectly when i try to input letters to the username by the virtual keyboard, but it not really working for the password textbox.Strange when i set the password textbox 's UseSystemPasswordChar to False again it worked. if i put my virtual keyboard as one of the controls of my main program form it also works but i then don't have the opacity property for my keyboard. of course, in this case the Findwindow() and setforgroundwindow() is not needed.

View 6 RepliesI'm trying to write vb code to verify a password input by a user to known table passwords in access database. The form has a drop down combo box that has userID's that are selectable. I'm trying to get the index number out of the combo box selection and use that to look up what the password should be. With that information i can then compare the stored password with the password typed into the text box below the combo box. All of the examples i've found that direct me show the code in regular Visual Basic. I'm using Visual Basic 2010 with the .net architecture.
View 3 RepliesI am implementing a system where the user can Reset their password if they have forgotten it.Once it is reset I want to give them the option of changing the password so that it will be something more memorable to them.The password is hashed and if i enter in the correct old password and new password the password does change.If I enter in the wrong old password and new password the password doesnt change.Is there a way to match the old password with the old password field in code behind so I can throw up an error to the user to tell them what is wrong? View 1 RepliesI am creating a program for which will calculate the time taken for a user to make a number keystrokes. I want to start the timer running from the beginning of the first key stroke and end on the final keystroke. Each keystroke has been linked to a label which will change colour according to whether the key has been pressed. When the keystrokes have been finished I want to save this timespan in a field in a database. To test that the timer is running I have made a messagebox which will show the time taken however it is constantly showing zero and the label for the final keystroke is remaining in the keydown colour.

I am writing a program which allows me to log in to my favorite forum, and displays me my fav. threads, and automatically refreshes current thread every 30 seconds or so.For this, I first need to login to the forum page. Fortunately, the forum allows to login during posting a new message, and it's a public forum so browsing threads is possible without login. Therefore I can directly jump to the "edit article" page without login, fill in login information and write the post, and then send it altogether. Here is an example link for that:

Unluckily, I haven't found a way to set the option "User must change password at next logon" while creating a new user account. I use the
NetUserAdd -Function to create the new user. I set the level to 1 and supply a
USER_INFO_1 -Structure . This structure accepts flags, and the flag UF_PASSWORD_EXPIRED seems to be exactly what I want - but when I set it, the user can log on without changing the password first...

How to find if a UserName which is entered in a textbox exists in the file and find if the password is entered correctly? If there's a better way than using xml, can you provide any info?
I have listBox control of user objects where each object has userName and Password.What I want to do is when a user enters userName and Password a method goes through the listBox checks for whether userName exists or not and if userName exists then matches the password.What I have in my mind is that to use for each loop but I think it would become complex so is there any better way?

I am writing a program that accepts a user name and password (the password must show up as *s). The user gets three tries to enter the correct information before the program is closed. So far I have the password showing up as the password in clear text the first time and in *s the next two times. The authentication also fails even when I use the correct user name and password which are password and user for now.
