I'd like to autosize listview columns to fit the column names. From what I saw this should do it but it doesn't work for me. Can someone see what I'm doing wrong or know of a way to do it? The listview is designed to dynamically build the coulmns based on the number of coumns in a recordset.

My goal is to connect to my database either manually or using an sqladapater, and get information from two of my databases on sql server 2005. Then I want to take this information and on run-time begin to add/subtract/divide/multiply certain columns and place the information into other columns. I can do this in queries, however, I want to do it on run-time what is the best way to achieve this.I had some of this working, but I just want to start fresh and see how you would go about doing this.

Below code is supposed to update a table in oracle with rows imported. But it seems to update all columns in the table with only the first column which is imported from the CSV file. I figure its the "ReadFields" property which needs to manipulated/changed.

I am trying to populate a multi-column listview from a file. I have gotten as far as reading the correct data from the file to an array and populating the correct columns with said data. However, sometimes the array will span multiple lines of data in the file and I need all of these matches to populate the listview but the code that I have now only populates the listview with the data from the first matching line. I have tried declaring the variables as listviewitems instead of strings, which allowed me to use listView.Items.AddRange(arr) but then all of the data appeared in the first column instead of spread across all columns like it is supposed to. At this point I am at a loss because I can only figure out how to either fill the first column with all data or fill all columns with only the first line of data. Here is the code that I have

It is really only the last part of the If.. Then statement that I need help with. I was thinking that a loop would accomplish what I am trying but I am still pretty new to VB and do not know the correct code.

I am trying to implement a DataViewGrid in VB.NET that will be simply for identifying and selecting GIS features that are already within a database. Simple enough with DataGrids and DataSets, although there is one slight twist.First, I need to be able to populate the grid based on one record of the column [Name] that is chosen from a ComboBox(I have been able to populate the ComboBox, but not the grid).Second, I need to restructure the DataGridView so that each current column name is in a column called "Field" and the row for that one record chosen is in another column called "Value".As you can see here, each "Field" is a column name and each "Value" is one record for each of those columns. So, if I could somehow parse through all of the column names into a "Field" column, and also populate a "Value" column with one record for each [Name], I would be on the road to happiness.

I am using VB2005 and trying to put an application together.What it needs to do is retrieve information from a binary file, possibly alter that information, and put it back into a new file.The file is a .wav file with data appened to the end. There is an additional section at the end of the .wav file which stores xml data.I have found that if I open this in a hex editor and make a 1:1 swap on any of the bytes that the application that the file is for can still read the XML.If I tried to add or remove characters from the XML then it would not read. I located a header byte and incremented it to resolve this.
This worked as an excellent bandage to do conversions where the data always needed to be changed to the same thing.What I have been asked to do is build logic that allows for different things to happen depending upon what data is contained within the file.The method that I am currently trying to impliment is:
Read through the file with a system.io.binaryreader
Searche for a bytestream that will signal data is coming
For example:
If System.IO.File.Exists("C: est estread.wav") Then
Dim findit() As Integer = New Integer() {&H3C, &H55, &H73, &H72, &H44, &H65, &H66, &H30, &H31, &H30}
Dim i As Integer[code].....
And then extract all the data till the end of element marker "<" It seemed like there should be a better way and I was looking for some insight. If I proceed with this method, I will have to read the file one time to gather the information and then a second time to write it all out with the header modified for length.This is my first experiene with working with binary files in this way.Also,I've been experiementing with building a string and slapping it back in at the end using the binarywriter.write(string) method.I noticed that it was putting in header characters before the string.These seem to change if I change the length of the string.At one point it was d0 07. Later it became e7 07. Does anyone know of a way to prevent this header from being inserted?
I tried a for each loop to grab all of the characters from the string, convert them to a byte array and deposit the byte array into the file, but the header remained the same. When I write the byte array generated from a system.io.binaryreader I do not get this header.

I have a listview that I populate with data from a recordset during runtime. After the code has executed and I view the listbox, my columns are missing. I am 100% shure the listview is populated with data. The listview view property is curremtly set on Details. If I however switch the view to anything else eg. view=list, I see the listview items in the listbox. I need to show the user all the columns.

I've setup a listview with two columns. Both have a fixed width which totals the width of the control (to fill the control fully and not display a horizontal bar)This works fine as long as the form does not change, anything such as a font change on the system will cause the list view to look off alignment.LV2.jpg shows it in the designer, LV.jpg shows the same listview with a different font.Is there an easy method to fix the position or auto size the last column to the edge of the control?
