VS 2005 Consuming A Dll - Reference Com Objects And Other .net Drivers

I have a windows form application and also a exe application that both uses the same dll whic I place in the bin directory The dll is using crystal report and thus I need to reference com objects and other .net drivers. My question is following: Where should I put these references, in the class library (dll) or in the windows form / exe applications. If I put them in the dll, will they automatically be loaded when call the dll (entry point) or do I need to something else (create in installer etc)

I created a .net assembly, which works perfectly if I create before runtime. But i'd like to know if it's possible to reference at runtime. The reason is because i'm creating an application which will be used in several servers, and it will be reference that same .net assembly, but the .dll file will be in different location per server. I know that when I reference before runtime, the .net assembly it will be pointing to is from the original (or at least that's what I think).

I have a project where a email is sent when the user clicks send on the web page, however the content of the email will change depending on what is inputted by the user. I have added classes to my project so that depending what is selected by the user different classes are selected and as such different emails then sent from the project.

I have an error while using a collection that has been stumping me for years.I wrote a class to allow users to write equations in a txt file using RPN (stack based notation).The class runs through a select statement while reading the equation and then ends up with a final number as the answer. I have a collection to place these objects in for easy reference. For whatever reason I get random object reference not set to an instance of an object errors when there is nothing in the program that would remove objects from the collection, kill objects, or change the collection in any way. It is possible for one thread to call the calculate function while another thread calls the CurrentValue property. I'm not sure if this could be causing the error, but once it happens I get an error every time the program enters that code until I run out of memory.

good way to run windows script host code from vb.net? Im trying to run some dsf com components but they are only for the 64-bit version of scripting engine installed. I wish i could execute my code from vb.net but sometimes it doesnt want to work because im referencing the 32-bit version script control and not the 64-bit scripting environment.

I am working on creating an application (game) for a PocketPC with Visual Studio2005 in VB/.NET. I try to dynamically create a (new)button upon clicking a label and assigning certain properties to this button. For this I used below displayed code, but this button does not appear on 'Form1' - which is big enough to display it- but creates an error: A NullReferenceException. Such occurs when you try to reference an object in your code that does not exist, but I think I just did by using'..New..' Who can tell me what is wrong and how to fix this? [Code]

Okay I've been wondering about this for a while now, but whenever you assign variable values to objects they tend to just become references to the original object
For example:
Dim copiedCollection As ListBox.ObjectCollection = ListBox1.Items
For Each L As String In copiedCollection
If L = "Goodbye" Then ListBox1.Items.Remove(L)
Next
As soon as it encounters the string "Goodbye" and removes the item from the listbox, the program will throw an error saying the the collection (copiedCollection) has been modified. How can I make copiedCollection a true copy (not a reference) to the Listbox1.Items collection?

Followup to a previous post: It's been determined that Windows Device Drivers cannot be written in VB.NET; that's being dealt with separately.
What I'm interested to know here is if there's a DotNET Framework facility for adding/removing/managing device drivers; for example, can I build a VB.NET application to list loaded drivers, or drivers attached to a specific device, then load or unload those drivers as needed? It never hurts to try. In a worst case scenario, you'll learn from it.

At this time I am using VBScript to drive files thru a printer driver. Each file has to be ran at all the different preferences the drivers can offer. (papersize, dpi, simplex/duplex, etc.). I am developing a VB application and I want to drive the files with the app. I want to make setting changes with my app. and then set the driver accordingly and run the files. When I finish I want to dynamiclly change the settings and then run the files again. Until I have driven them with all the different settings.

I am creating a small application for my tech support department to remove a printer and it's driver. I can stop the printer spooler service and delete files related to these printer but, I can't delete the printer from printers and faxes window. I can run printui command to delete the printer in command window but in shell line the double qoutations are giving me problem.

i am trying to redistribute my app that uses Oracle 11g:
Imports Oracle.DataAccess.Client
The problem i am having is that it will not run on a machine that doesnt seem to have the correct drivers that its looking for. When i install ODAC 11.2 Release 3 (11.2.0.2.1) with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio on the test VM it works just fine but thats a 230+mb file to download and install! Not to mention that if the user already has Oracle 10/11g on their machine that it may mess up their current connections/etc by installing that setup file.Is there another setup package that i can install that only has the Oracle Data Provider for .NET 2.0 11.2.0.2.0 or whatever its needing from that ODAC 11.2 Release 3 file.

Why would database drivers work in the development environment of VB.Net and not once the project is built and installed on the same pc? I've tried the MS ODBC Oracle driver. I've tried various ODBC datasources. All work when I am in the development environment but none once I build and install. No matter whether the configuration is Debug or Release. This is the only project having this problem. I have other apps (VB.Net) that access the same database (Oracle 9.2) with no problem.The environment variables are the same during both types of runs. The error messages vary depending upon the driver being used.

I have some code to list all the print drivers currently installed on a system and code to change the default printer, does anyone know how this can be modified to delete a printer (eg: populate the listbox with installed drivers and delete the driver if double-clicked?). I know how to handle the double-click event, I just need some help working out how to delete the driver.[code]

Let me start this again. I just started working at a company and this company sells customer label printers and its software. The printer drivers are not designed well and creates problems between version updates. When a customer calls in and compalins that are some communication problems, we have to login to their computer and remove printer, it's drivers and driver files that gets installed into system32 folder.
So, my goal was to have the customer download a file , run it and remove these files before they download the latest files.[code]...

I am hoping that someone from the forum is familiar with the Doing Objects in Visual Basic 2005 book so that this question makes a little more sense. I have completed the sample project and understand most of what I have done. There are some holes in my knowledge but I am sure I will pick up those pieces as I become more familiar with object orientated programming.
The sample project is an almost complete application where you view and edit Objects that are stored in a database. The author leaves the remaining features needed up to the reader, which is great because I have been able to put new knowledge into use. However I am having trouble saving a new object back to the database.

By looking at this code it appears that I can save the data that is in the bindingsource by changing the EntityState to the Enum added. However I am not sure where to set it. I am pretty confident that I have the rest of this correct because when I try to do the save I get an error that the stored procedure is expecting the GoalID.

Is it possible to use a JDBC connection in a VB.net application? I am unable to find any example code in order to connect to an Oracle Database using JDBC within .net without the need to use Oracles .net drivers (they seem to not work without the Oracle client being installed and thats a licence problem)

I have developed a small window application, having lot of insert and select scripts. It runs fine for 3 times but when i run it 4th time it gives me Error "Out Of Memory Exception". I observed that in my task manager Sqlserver.exe process occupies memory around 167000K. Then I killed it. and again run the code, this time it occupy 12000K memory. Again I run it...the memory increases and stops at 87125K. All It means i the C#.net objets are not disposed well.
I have tried for
GC.GetTotalMemory()
But failed? How can I release objects?

I was working on one of my forms, not doing anything crazy or out of the ordinary, just adding a control to the form. When all of a sudden vb became real sluggish and barely responsive, so I closed VS and restarted the computer. Got back into my project and now I can't open any form. Opening a form gives me <b>failed to parse method 'InitializeComponent'. The parser reported the following error 'Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.'. Please look in the task lisk for potential errors.</b>.Error list sometimes contains 102 errors, and sometime just one that says I have exceeded the maximum number of errors. When it contains 102, every single one of the errors is <b> [Object/Form] is ambiguous in the namespace [Project] </b>.
I can't open any designers right now, every single one of them gives the failed to parse method error. If I rename, lets say frmAbout to frmAbout1, then I can see that form.There is only one of everything in Solution Explorer, no duplicates. There are no duplicates in the folder either. I can open the code for each form/object and see it just fine, and looks fine too. Code is not duplicated or anything.

I'm not real sure how to even ask this question... but here goes.I'm using VB2005 and DirectX 9, D3D. It is 2D isometric display.Here is what I CAN do. Create a map grid. Draw each tile out and present the map on the screen. (ISO) I can even scroll around using the arrows and mouse at the edge of the screen.
- I can click on the map and get the X,Y coords of the tile I am on.... look up the grid to see what is supposed to be on this tile.The only game coding experience I have is using windows forms controls... I've done a few dozen of them. Dice games, card games..

I am testing web services in .NET for the first time. I am almost there, but I can't seem to consume the web service. I know this post is similar to about 5-6 other posts on this site, but I have reviewed them, and still can't get the syntax correct.So far, I have:Create a simple web service that creates a directoryWorked in development environment, but took some trouble shooting to get to work on live server I can pull up the "automagically" generated .NET we service page.Added web service reference - can now see the reference in my solution explorer and in intellisense.

In my program i have added a reference to Windows Script Host Object Model to make a shortcut. I then used "Imports IWshRuntimeLibrary".My problem is that when i run the program i get an error meaage saying "Could not load file or assembly 'Interop.IwshRuntimeLibrary, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture= neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified." This only happens when i run the program outside of VS 2005, when i press start debugging is VS it works fine.
