Run Vscript 64-bit Code From .net In 64-bit (libraries , Dlls, Or Any Objects That Can Reference)?
Feb 4, 2012
good way to run windows script host code from vb.net? Im trying to run some dsf com components but they are only for the 64-bit version of scripting engine installed. I wish i could execute my code from vb.net but sometimes it doesnt want to work because im referencing the 32-bit version script control and not the 64-bit scripting environment.
So my goal out of this is to find a 64-bit scripting component dll or library that i can use for executing a wsf file thats mostly written in vbscript but has some xml from the windows script host.Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth. - "Sherlock holmes" "speak softly and carry a big stick" - theodore roosevelt. I've got a bunch of DLL projects that I'm pulling into my application, each contains their own Settings.settings/app.config. When I compile the app and run for debugging, everything works just fine, but come deployment time I can't get my DLLs to read their own settings files.I've been doing some reading and it has become apparent that there's a couple of methods to getting each dll to read its own configuration - one is to dedicate a .dll.config to the library and the other is to embed the dll's configuration in the process.exe.config.I'm having significant issues trying to implement either and I wondered if anyone has any good docs on this - there appears to be a shortage on the Net.
I'd like a separate .dll.config for each of the libraries if possible, but in a pinch, getting each of my libraries to read their own section of the process.exe.config will he right direction because I'm so close to rolling this application out but this stumbling block is causing me a significant headache.Edit: When I merge the configuration files, I start getting TypeInitializer exceptions when I initialize objects withing my libraries. This is likely just me being retarded, but does someone have a working example of a merged config file and some basic demonstrative code for reading it from multiple assemblies?
I'm trying to implement the XACT engine in a VB.NET project. I'm pretty new to this stuff, but I can set up and use the normal DirectX libraries fine. However, I can't for the life of me work out how to set up/reference/import/include/whatever the XAudio2 and XACT libraries. All the dlls in the Aug2009 DX SDK say they can't be used as references in the project, and the only tutorials I can find are in C++ and use the .h headers, which, if I'm not mistaken, I can't use at all for VB.
I'm tearing my hair out over this because there literally seems to be no way that I can find to use the new sound stuff in VB! I'm imagining MS wouldn't actually allow that to be the case, so if someone can tell me what basic thing I'm doing wrong.
I have a vb.net 3.5 class library project that needs to reference two assemblies that have the same namespace. We have two third party dll's in which one is version 5.1 and the other is version 6.1. They have the same dll filename and they utilize the same namespace and functions/class names. The project needs to use one or the other depending on a specific situation. I've investigated up on a c# process that uses the "extern alias" feature to pull in the different assemblies.

What use is the Aliases property of assembly references in Visual Studio 8.It seems that this feature isn't fully available for vb.net. Things I've Tried I've renamed the 2nd dll and added both references to my project. At this point I get tons of: 'blah' is ambiguous in the namespace. So I need to alias the different versions. In vb.net you can do aliases on an imports statement like:
Imports version5 = Somedll.Something
The problem is I can't setup an assembly reference alias for the different versions of the dll. Apparently in vb.net you can't set these up in the reference properties window. So I tried setting them in in my project file like this:
I'm looking to add reference object libraries relating to excel and none are available to select from my directory. I have Microsoft Office Excel 2010 Express installed. Where can I retrieve this object library (and others?). Looking to import and export data to/from excel.
I have a simple vb.net project that outputs a dll. In order to build this project, I have to reference some 3 3rd party dlls by manually adding them to the project and then building.
What I want to do now is auto build this using a app called CruiseControl. . . I have been told that in order to use the 3 3rd party dlls, I have to modify the .proj file to include the .dlls. The thing is, where in the proj file do I include this and how do I do this? I think I may know where the section is and I have included it here:
[code...]
When I run the auto build program it fails (it runs through but fails at compile time); when I build this manually it works when i refer the dlls. What am I missing to make this work?
I am trying to understand how to interact with external DLLs written in C++ for use in my VB.NET application. I have some DLLs that a client wrote that do some math functions. Everything was working on a 32-bit machine. Because we were taxing the 32-bit machine we moved to 64-bit. Now we can't get the same functions to work. The DLLs were re-compiled as 64-bit DLLs and they still don't work. So my client wrote some dummy DLLs to see if we could figure out the problem. Here are the "signatures" of the DLL calls that I am making:[code]....Ultimately I would like to get to calling initialize_quiet and I am guessing at the format of the marshalling, const size etc.
I have some Visual Basic methods that are acting as the click handlers for a custom Word Ribbon. Unfortunately, I already have the implementation of what the handlers have to do written in C# which is loaded into the Word document as an XML Expansion Pack.
I don't see any way to add a reference to the C# .dlls to Word's Visual Basic Editor.
I created a .net assembly, which works perfectly if I create before runtime. But i'd like to know if it's possible to reference at runtime. The reason is because i'm creating an application which will be used in several servers, and it will be reference that same .net assembly, but the .dll file will be in different location per server. I know that when I reference before runtime, the .net assembly it will be pointing to is from the original (or at least that's what I think).
I have a project where a email is sent when the user clicks send on the web page, however the content of the email will change depending on what is inputted by the user. I have added classes to my project so that depending what is selected by the user different classes are selected and as such different emails then sent from the project.
I have an error while using a collection that has been stumping me for years.I wrote a class to allow users to write equations in a txt file using RPN (stack based notation). The class runs through a select statement while reading the equation and then ends up with a final number as the answer. I have a collection to place these objects in for easy reference. For whatever reason I get random object reference not set to an instance of an object errors when there is nothing in the program that would remove objects from the collection, kill objects, or change the collection in any way. It is possible for one thread to call the calculate function while another thread calls the CurrentValue property. I'm not sure if this could be causing the error, but once it happens I get an error every time the program enters that code until I run out of memory.
I have a windows form application and also a exe application that both uses the same dll whic I place in the bin directory The dll is using crystal report and thus I need to reference com objects and other .net drivers. My question is following: Where should I put these references, in the class library (dll) or in the windows form / exe applications. If I put them in the dll, will they automatically be loaded when call the dll (entry point) or do I need to something else (create in installer etc)
I am working on creating an application (game) for a PocketPC with Visual Studio2005 in VB/.NET. I try to dynamically create a (new)button upon clicking a label and assigning certain properties to this button. For this I used below displayed code, but this button does not appear on 'Form1' - which is big enough to display it- but creates an error: A NullReferenceException. Such occurs when you try to reference an object in your code that does not exist, but I think I just did by using'..New..' Who can tell me what is wrong and how to fix this? [Code]
Okay I've been wondering about this for a while now, but whenever you assign variable values to objects they tend to just become references to the original object
For example:
Dim copiedCollection As ListBox.ObjectCollection = ListBox1.Items For Each L As String In copiedCollection If L = "Goodbye" Then ListBox1.Items.Remove(L) Next
As soon as it encounters the string "Goodbye" and removes the item from the listbox, the program will throw an error saying the the collection (copiedCollection) has been modified. How can I make copiedCollection a true copy (not a reference) to the Listbox1.Items collection?
I designed 7 class libraries for 1 project. The project references all 7 libraries.3 of the 7 libraries make references to the other 4 libraries.I thought of just duplicating the code that's referenced in the other 4 libraries, but thats a lot of code.
Example:
PrjctA makes reference to LibA, LibB, LibC, & LibD.If LibA references LibB & LibC also will this fail?
i got this code from the net , but i can't make this code work on the system i am programming so, i used the same codes to another system and it worked, when i tried using it to my system, it failed, so i started a new program and it still fails... what is wrong with my program? here is a sample of the code:
[code]...
whenever i run the program, it compiles, but when i click the commit button, this message appears "NullReference Exception was unhandled Object reference not set to an instance of an objects" and it points to .NewRow
Dont even know how to word this, reason I'm having so much trouble finding out the answer in help. But, basicly I'm trying to get data from many different text boxes named similar from my form, example:[code]where i would count up in a for and next statment from like 1 to what ever.
I want to make pictureboxes move from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen (easy) when they reach the bottom I want them to cease to exist (do-able). But i want to create new ones that keep coming from the top. create an endless amount of pictureboxes while running the program?
I want to copy the different objects of a tabpage into another tabpage while running the application(using a button click), but that those objectshave the same code as their references, so they work exactly as their references.
I'm struggling with unit testing in my website. So far I have the NUnit framework imported with;[code]How do I call in objects from the other class with all my code to test?If anyone could give me an example of how to test textbox validation,
I've written a for loop to generate several new text boxes and numericUpDowns when the application is run.
The text boxes / numericUpDowns are generated with a 2-dimensional array. My question is: How do I handle when the text boxes / numericUpDowns are modified?
If you would like the code, just request it and I'll add it here.
I am trying to access objects created at run time. The following code works IF Options Strict is off. If it is on it indicates "Option Strict On disallows implicit conversions from 'System.Windows.Forms.Control' to 'System.Windows.Forms.TextBox'."
Option Strict Off Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim txt As TextBox = Me.Controls("T3")
[code]....
I am having trouble formulating the type conversion.A Second problem I am having occurs when I create a groupbox at runtime and then add the textboxes to the groupbox. I am having trouble drilling down to gain access to the textboxes inside the groupbox.
I'm trying to get a complete understanding of Objects . Namespaces etc and think I'm pretty close.I've created A basic Vehicles class and a car class that inherits Vehicle.Through user input I've created several cars and displayed the information in a listview. My question is what is the best way to store my cars (don't say garage!) so that if a user clicks on the associated entry on the list box that they can then alter that specific instance.
I am trying to add some scripting to my VB.NET 2010 Windows Forms Application.I have figured out how to compile and execute VB.NET code stored in an external script file from within my app using Microsoft.VisualBasic.VBCodeProvider.CompileAssemblyFromSource and InvokeMember. I can also pass and return parameters to the code in the script file.In VB6 using the VBScript Host control, I could expose instances of objects in my app to the code in the VBScript. How do I do this in VB.NET?I'd like to expose a form object (the main form for my Windows Forms Application) to my VB.NET script.I don't want to pass the form as a parameter via InvokeMember.[code]
I'm currently working on a project I've just received that is asp.net + vb.I have to add a gridview in one part of the page, but it simply won't let me set the datasource
recreating a board game with 36 picBoxes representing each block in the game.image is displayed in the picBox1 to start. then roll die (generate random num 2-12) now i want to move the image (gamepiece) to the picbox that corresponds to the die total.so if i'm at picbox1 and roll a 10, it should display the image in picbox11.problem is once i generate die throw i dont know how to reference picbox11 in my code (or if its possible?)[code]
I'm creating an application in Visual Basic 08 for a friends company, and im trying to store a unique reference number after it being entered in the textbox.I've been messing about with classes, objects and arrays but can't get it right so far
