I am using System.Windows.Forms.TabPage to store an entire TabPage for later use in My.Settings. Here is a brief description of the application.
I have a TabControl that has 3 tabs. One for user input, another tab for equipment settings, and then a final tab for Oven settings. On the user input tab, if the user de-selects the checkbox for Oven, the oven tab is saved to My.Settings and hidden.
I can then run the application without oven control. After running, lets say the user would like to re-run, this time with the oven. They go back to the input tab and re-select the Oven checkbox. However, the Oven tab doesn't re-appear. When stepping through the code, the is nothing stored in My.Settings for the oven tab page. Why not?
Also, I can open the application, and check, then uncheck the oven checkbox and the tab is hidden, then returns. I can do this all day. However, after running the tab will not return.
It's not a coding problem. I can't seem to copy my coding in to word without it losing all of the colour. Is there any easy way that I can copy and paste this code in to word without it losing all of the formatting?
View 2 Repliesthis is in reference to my main post here update mdb with data from different tables in dataseti have two tables in a dataset called dsSource. dsSource.Tables(0) has the following columns: ,,,,,,,code,art,sizerng1,sizerng2,sizerng3,etc...... dsSource.Tables(1) has the following columns: ,,,,,,,code,art,size1,size2,size3,etc...... the conditions here are: 1) to look for "1" in columns sizerng1, sizerng2, etc. of dsSource.Tables(0) 2) match code and art on both tables finally if both conditions are valid then the size values in columns size1, size2, etc. will be assigned to columns in sizerng1, sizerng2, etc. my main concern here is i have to loop through all rows in both tables which takes a long time, so is there a better way to do this than the code i have below?.

I have a copying error with my program. I am trying to copy the internet cache folder, and the error states that some files cannont be copied (read only maybe?) How can i make it copy, or just skip the uncopyable files?

This works fine. But when the grid is dropped on a TabControl tabpage, the ctrl-tab looks very different to the sub above. e.keycode is seen as controlkey {17} I realize that by default cntrl-Tab moves between tabpages. I need to override this behavior. My thought is I probably need a subclass of the tabControl which will pass the keycombo through just as the form does but I confess to being clueless as to how to accomplish that. I tried to override the onkeydown of a tabcontrol subclass and just issuing a return and not and base call to onkeydown if the ctrl-tab combo was pressed but it seemed to see the e.keycode as controlkey as well.

I've been working on creating forms and objects through code in the the load event of Form1, truthfully theres a few questions I have under this one category but to start I want to create a button click event that will check what button was pressed then set that button to a variable. In re-engineering a windows forms application, I find that a lot of code-behind in the various form classes is duplicative and I'm trying to centralize as many procedures as possible into a base class which can be inherited and used by the subclassed forms.
This process seems to be going well and is making the code in my subclasses much simpler and hopefully easier to maintain, but I'm not sure where to draw the line between leaving code in the subclasses and engineering for generic resusability and moving it to the base class.
Specifically, in some subclasses I have code which manipulates variables and objects specific to the subclass, and although I could move the code-behind into the base class, the base class code references specific objects which are needed to compile. For example, each subclass manipulates a databound datagridview and form detail controls which allows the user to select between multi-record and detailed single-record views of a datatable.
In Visual Basic 2008 do I need to declare dummy data objects in the base class so that the base class will compile? Or is there a way to indicate that the data objects will be provided by the subclass?

I have a user control that inherits the FW ListView and I need to dispose of two objects when the form's disposing of it's objects. Here's what I've concluded already, am I on the right track?

long story short, I have created a ListView type control, using UserControls for the parent control and the ListViewItems. Most the of the control is written and works fine, right up to the point where I tried to replicate the 'Control.SelectedItems(0).Index' property and the 'SelectedIndexChanged' event.
Each child object knows its index value, and could pass this value via the SelectedIndexChanged event (assuming this is how it works in a normal ListView control -- user clicks on an item, and that item fires an event updating the selected index value in the parent object).
How does the child object raise an event in the parent object? I have a feeling this could be done with Delegates, but I'm still learning about their usage.
