I'm making an installer and I need to copy a file into C:WindowsSystem32. It's a dll file.When I try to do this, app throws an exception saying that the access is denied. Before doing this, I copy a lot of files into another directories and have no problem at all. The exception is thrown only when I try to write into that folder.

I have a copying error with my program. I am trying to copy the internet cache folder, and the error states that some files cannont be copied (read only maybe?) How can i make it copy, or just skip the uncopyable files?

WHY can I not check for the existence of a file in the c:windowssystem32 directory? The file IS there and this method still returns false.
View 2 RepliesI'm having a massive problem trying to write a file into the c:windowssystem32 directory. The code works fine on 32 bit machines, however does not work on 64 bit machines. My user account is an administrator on the machine, and even right clicking and choosing to run the app as administrator does not solve the issue.
When writing the file, no exception is thrown, but the file is not written. I have read various posts regarding adding an app.manifest file containing the requestedExecutionLevel node to my solution, but as yet am unable to get this to work. I have a feeling this may be because I'm using vb.net rather than c#.net(also, this is not a malicious app I am writing, I'm working on a version control app for our team and need to be able to interface with IIS files held in c:windowssystem32inetsrvconfig).

trying to write to c:windowssystem32 on a windows 7 x64 machine, but the application keeps writing to c:windowssyswow64 instead. I have heard of windows interpreting commands and modifying them to be what microsoft "thinks" you are trying to do.when dealing with 32 bit apps running on a 64 bit os.the line of code im using is:

I designed a vb.net application. In this application I am using some file which are in WindowsSystem32 folder. Each and everything is working file, but when I install my application on any x64 machine. My application is unable to read the in WindowsSystem32 files. I think this is because of WOW64(windows-32-on-windows-64) issue. I don't want to install these files at any other place because of application security purpose.

My objective is to write a program that will fetch records associated with a particular transaction and copy them over to the test system. The database is Oracle 9i (production system) and Oracle 10G (on the test system).

I've got an app which uses a background worker to copy files. It works fine but some files are quite large and it "appears" as though the app isn't doing anything. Is there an alternative to the File.Copy method of copying files so I can report on the progress of individual file copies, like the percentage complete?

So, I have a task where I need to basically copy about 600,000 PDFs, some of which can be 5-6 MBs from one network fileshare to another network fileshare on another pc.Now, I crawled through the directories, sub-directories etc etc and created what I call a Filename/Filepath Database lookup table. This table contains the name and the unc fileshare path of each file which comes in handy.I have used Multi-threading and File.Copy to "copy" the files and I getting about 45K files per 4 hours which I need to be significantly faster then that and I am seeing performance degrade over time
View 1 RepliesI have the following code where I make an copy of my database that I use. the code executes 100% but the problem I have is I'm not able to access my database afterward.I get a "Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by another user." and so if I restart the application it all works fine again.I'm certain the reason is because I can only access that database using a specific account name and password which is not account I'm logged in with.What i want to try is to default that database mdb to the point where no user is accessing it, or to reassign the the only account name that can access it to that database mdb. View 8 RepliesI have a DataGridView which lists the paths of a group of files, pptx, xlxs, etc. From a context menu they can copy the name of the file onto the clipboard, or delete the file or rename the file, but I would like to be able to actually attach the file itself to the clipboard so it could be pasted as an attachment to an email or something like that. How do I get the file itself onto the clipboard when I only have the path to it?
