Nov 15, 2011I have to create a form that I enter the price of gas each month over a year. I enter the price in a text box and click the enter button to send the price to a list box immediatley and use an array. I have the following code but I don't think it's working with the array correctly as it will let me enter the information but doesn't stop letting me enter after the 12 prices. I am really having a hard time trying to figure out how to set up this input for an array and make it all work.

Forms :: Disable Enter As Button Click?
Apr 16, 2010Is there a way to prevent the Enter key from being interpreted as a button click.
I am trapping key strokes at the form level but if a button has the focus and the ENTER key is pressed I cannot trap the enter because the button consumes it as a button click event. I am also unable to trap the enter key in any of the button's key events.
I am interfacing with magtripe swipe and barcode readers that send their information as keystrokes with a CRLF at the end. I have a work around by chaning the focus to a textbox anytime keystrokes are detected but I am hoping for better control.
Is there a way to disable the buttons ability to do this?

Aug 13, 2009I have to create a program where you enter the description, price, and quantity of an item, then click on the Add button. It will then put the description, price, quantity, and total for that line (including tax) in a listbox. The tax is determined by what you put in a text box labeled tax:. When you press Submit Order, it should show a grand total in a text box called Grand Total. It should have a class that is called Items that has a function called GetTotalAmount() that figures out the total including tax. I have started it, but am having a tough time with how to get the subtotals into the text box, then also show the amount including the tax PLUS then do the grand total.

Nor does anything like Keys.OEMPeriod for the period(del) key. I've also tried calling the enter key in a KeyPress event etc. But to no avail. Any ideas? I'm trying to mimic Windows calc.exe for a school project and thought I'd try throwing in a few extras such as numeric keypad functionality.

Mar 15, 2010I have a button on my form where I'm showing a ContextMenu when the user left clicks on it, I'm actually using MouseUp right now to show it.What I would like to have happen is the user click on the button, the button stays pressed while the ContextMenu shows, it returns to normal when the ContextMenu closes (Either a menu item was selected, the user hits the escape key or they click/tab to somewhere else). Also I'd like to position the ContextMenu in the lower left corner if the menu opens down or the top left corner if it opens up. So the left edge of the ContextMenu is flush with the left edge of the button.Moreso the button staying pressed until the ContextMenu is closed.
Edit: I'm also ok with this being it's own control inheriting the FW's Button that used the assigned ContextMenu as well.

May 3, 2011This my first time using a DatetimePicker so hopefully I'm missing something obvious.I have a bindingsource that has a datetime field that is set to use the short date format. The field is bound to a datetimepicker control.The problem is if I click the Add button on the navigator a new record is displayed and the dtp shows the current date. But if I then save the record the date is not saved to the database.If I go into the dtp control and select a date, it saves the date just fine.

I have one checking in a textbox Leave event. I will go check whether this ID is already exist in DB or not. If exist, I will prompt MSG box to user.
When I click on Close button while focus is on textbox, this textbox Leave Event will trigger first before Button Click event.
So, the form remains open without trigger Button Click event.

Jun 16, 2011I have a form that you can type in a four digit code and press enter and will will run some code on a database. The problem occurs when a user click their 4 digit ID number and then click enter, the next user then comes up, types their 4 digit ID on the number pad and when they press enter it runs the code twice (this is due to the fact that the enter button has focus, meaning i intercept the enter, run my code, then the button runs that same code)

Jul 21, 2009Windows form, it has a section with Tabs, in those tabbed areas there are menu strips. Also on the form there are buttons, and 1 menu strip not on a tab control.
The following work with one click; buttons.
The menustrip take 2 clicks. However after the form has been clicked for the first time, they only need one click to operate. Take the focus away from the form, set to always be on top and repeat above.
What I need is this
1./ stay on top (Done)
2./ Buttons single click (Done)
3./ Menu strip single click

Nov 5, 2009I have a message box pop up if a practice doesnt exist in my application. However, the user MUST select 'OK' on the message box to accept the message. When you use enter button on the keyboard it doesnt work.Is there anyway I can allow enter button also to be used rather than ONLY clicking 'OK' button.
