VS 2005 - Databound - Set The Column To Be A Checkbox

I have a pre-existing database which I am coding to, so I can't change the data stored in the SQL-Server 2005 database. My application uses the DataGridView to maintain the data. There is a yes/no field that I would like to bind a checkbox to. The field is a character field in the database, and holds either Y or N. So, here's the question. I know how to set the column to be a checkbox, I think, but I don't know how to map it so that it reads/stores a "Y" value as checked and a "N" value as unchecked.

I have a Infragistics ultragrid with a checkbox column (no binding on the checkbox column) need the user to only have one check box selected at a time. If a checkbox is checked and the user checks another row I need the first checkbox to uncheck. I am new to infragistic controls, so I apologize if this is a simple property that I have not found. But I have searched the forum and KB to no avail. Do I have to rip through the rows and uncheck all rows but the active one?

I have a DataGridViewCheckBoxColumn who's column name is "booReadyToReport want to hide all the checkboxes in this column if "bintAnalyteCodeID" doesn't equal the selected value in a combobox on my form. ut I run this bit of code the DataGridView DataError event fires currently, have nothing in the event except an comment. he code seems to work, but I'm new to VB.NET and I'm wondering if this is the correct way to handle thishould I use the CellPainting event?

I have a DataGridView on a form in VB 2005 Express, of the 10 columns i need on this DGV 6 of them will be pulled from an MSSQL DB and 4 of them i need to manually enter. One thing i have going for me (i think) is that the 4 manual columns have the same data in each row.I have been filling this DGV using a datatable, but i am not figuring out how to add manual columns and databound ones in the same DGV. My column layout would look like this:[code]some one please explain to me how i would do something like this. if you can include the datatable definitions also it would be a big help, in order for me to verify that i am at least doing that the right way.

I have added a new column to my bound datagrid table using sql server management. Added a new textbox to my form and using databinding, bound the textbox to the new column. Running my app I can enter text in the new textbox and if I save or move from the current row the text shows in the grid. But...after refreshing the grid or restarting the application, the text is no longer there.

I have 2 columns of checkboxes in a gridview, where the header also contains a checkbox. If i select the header checkbox, it will check all corresponding checkboxes in its colomnow, what I want to happen is if I select column 1 checkbox, column 2 checkboxes should get unchecked and vice-versa.

Am using the Entity Framework and Columns Completed and Taken are of bit Datatype. When the query results are displayed in the datagridview, these bit columns are returned as of ColumnType Textbox - so i get a Datagridview textbox column with true or false string values.
I want to display Completed and Taken as Checkbox columns (either ticked for True or un-ticked for false) but ofcourse i can't do this in EditColumn dialogue because the Datagridview is unbound.
how can i change this in code at runtime

i have a datagridview on my winform that is bound on the click of a node in a tree this is the binding code...

i added a blank row in because if i bound without it then i was unable to add new row.
AllowUserToAddRows = True is set also
but when i populate the blank row and tab of it i would like another blank row to be created below but unsure where/how i go about this?basically im aiming for teh user to be able to edit or add numerous records to the datagridview then commit all changes on one click (Save) at the end.

I have a tabcontrol and two tab pages on the tab control. There are some fields on the tab pages which are databound to access database table which are populated using dataadapter. There is functionality to calculate total of the fields on both the tab pages when I click a button. When I load the form the record is retrieved and all the fields are populated with data. when I click the button without navigating to the second tab page then the total is calculated only for the fields that are on the front (first) tab page. It does not include the fields on the second tab page in calculations. When I navigate on the second tab page and then hit the button then the calculations are correct.
I saw that, for the controls on the second tab page, databinding does not happen until I navigate to the tab page. When I navigate to the second tab page then only the controls get the data. And this makes the difference in calculations when I just load the data and hit the button. It thus takes only the fields from the first tab page in calculation as the fields on the second tab pages are still not populated with data. I want the fields on the second tab page also to get populated with data as soon as the data is loaded and not when I actully navigate to the tab page.

here is the situation i am using the combobox with the databound dataset..i produce two combobox for that one field because i need to display the selected data in separate tabs... the combobox 1 is working perfectly i can select all data i want to but in the combobox 2 i can only see those data and when i select data on it, it will not display the selected data.. it still remain on the previous displayed data...

I have a form with several databound controls. Certain users will be able to change the data in these fields. Is there a way to check whether the data in any databound control has changed? I would like to do this so that I can enable an UPDATE button and flag a warning to the user that they must save their changes.

On the form load event i want to populate my ComboBox1 to display unique items directly from the DB. For that i have set the DataSource property of the ComboBox1 to the selected field. On the ComboBox1_SelectionChangeCommitted event i have set the filter for the DataSource which is working fine.
Now when i select an item from the ComboBox1 i get the filtered result in DataGridView but when i again drop down the combobox i see nothing other than the last selected item. Why is this happening? Is there a better way of populating ComboBox with the items directly from DB with default selected value as null?

i am developing an application in VB.net implies some datagridview operations. the appl contains one DGVW with columns fixed programatically, one such column is Datagridviewcheckbox column. the datasource for dgvw is bounded by a datatable. the user needs to enter the values in the GUI.
supposing the user enters the 2x2 matrix values, and the user checked the checkbox last cell in the dgvw. The problem - the last cell value is not updating inside. if ii debug through code, the "cell(2,2).value" reurns null value whereas the rest of them returns the value what i entered.
if i clicked the mouse some where in the dgvw after entering the last cell value, then it is returning the exact value as expected.

I have a datagridview on my windows form bound to field "STATUS" in SQL database with the default value of 0.What i want to acheive is that for each row in the datagridview, if user clicks the checkbox column only it should display a message " LOCK THE ROW?". If user chooses yes then the entire row should become readonly including the checkbox check "Greyed out" or disabled for that particular row and update value to 1 in the database field.I created checkbox by:
