View 4 RepliesI have an app that I've developed that has a vb.net front end and a SQL Server 2000 database backend. I currently have it running fine on my machine and it also installs fine on all the users that are inside the domain that the app was written in. When I try to install my application on another domain it hangs and doesn't even run the install script.
Has anyone ever experienced problems installing an app accross domains?
Is there something that I need to code differently to make it non-domain specific?
Will installing 2008 overwrite 2005. In case 2008 doesn't work for me I need to go back to 2005.
View 1 RepliesI have some work I need to do with some older ActiveX controls. When I install the controls (outside of Visual Studio) I get an error message:

Doing a little research I get a whole bunch of different answers. Microsoft says that this is because it was written for an older version of Windows (2000 or before, I am using XP) and to contact the vendor. The vendor is out of business.
Does anybody know of a way to install and use this older ActiveX control in VB.net/Visual Studio 2005?

ZedGraph, like VS2005, is made to work with .NET Framework 2.0 and seems user friendly. Alot of my clients are still using XP machines without .Net Framework 3.5.

View 7 RepliesI have a panel wich inherits from FlowLayoutPanel. I add a lot of picturebox to it. I allow the user to navigate through them with arrow keys. Since I have a lot of PictureBox, most of them doesn't appear at the visible rectangle of the panel. I want this panel to scroll to the selected control when user selects it. For select a PictureBox I made a class wich inherits from it and override the OnPaint sub. I also have a field m_selected to determine whether the PictureBox is selected or not. On OnPaint sub if this field is set to true, I draw an orange border to notify the user that this control is selected, otherwise I draw a simple black one. In the panel I also have a m_currentsel field to save the control wich is actually selected. When user selects a control this field contains the selected control.

View 1 RepliesI recently moved my Application that was running off of Window XP and created in VS 2005 over to a box that's running Windows7.Now, when I try to debug, I can't edit. In the lower portion of the screen, it gives me this error: Cannot currently modify this text in the editor. It is read only.
Under Tools->Options->Debugging, Edit and Continue are already selected; so it's something else. Also, under project properties->compile I have it set to Cofiguration (Active Debug) and Platform (Active Any CPU).

I have a picture box that blows up (increasses in size) when user performs a mouse over. I noticed that it will be on top of most of my textboxes, but not all? I can set propertie to invisible to ones that bleed through but i cant seem to figure out WHY some bleed through and not others, I have checked all my property settings

I have all the Customer table data on 1 panel control (pnlCustomer) that has textbox and datagridview controls. The visible property is set to True because this is the first UI that I want to appear when the form loads Next I created another panel for the Inventory data (pnlInventory) and I added contols to that in detail and datagrid views. I placed the Inventory panel directly on top of the Customer panel. The visible properly is set to False My intentions are that when the employee selects the Inventory button that the Customer panel will hide() and the Inventory panel will show().
I have tried a number of things but they do not work. What happens is that when the Inventory button is selected the Customer panel and all it's controls will actually hide but the Inventory panel will not appear. If it is opening, then there are no controls visible...and I checked to make sure that the property of all controls in the Inventory panel are set to Visible = true
Here is what I have tried:

Is it possible to either hide and unhide a tab in a tab control?If not how can I add a tab and all the controls on it a run time? Reason i'm wanting this is that a application i'm looking at making will use tabs, the left menu will have options on various parts of the business when it comes to news it will open a tab for news... list the news if i click one and edit tab will show it i click a button for new it will open a tab to write new news..

I want the user to enter the date without entering the / symbol and enter it as dd/mm/yy then format it to dd/mm/yyyy. I also want it to be highlighted when they give the control focus.
