VS 2005 Unable To Edit While Debugging: Running VS 2005 On Windows7?
Feb 14, 2011
I recently moved my Application that was running off of Window XP and created in VS 2005 over to a box that's running Windows7.Now, when I try to debug, I can't edit. In the lower portion of the screen, it gives me this error: Cannot currently modify this text in the editor. It is read only.
Under Tools->Options->Debugging, Edit and Continue are already selected; so it's something else. Also, under project properties->compile I have it set to Cofiguration (Active Debug) and Platform (Active Any CPU).
Whenever I try to debug, I get an error message that says "Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging. The binding handle is invalid." How do I fix this? It's happening for every project.
An Error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When Connecting to a SQL Server2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL server doesn allow remote connection (provider: Named Pipe Provider, error: 40- Could not open a connection to SQL Server)I want to connect to the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition which is running on my system from a VB.NET application. I am using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. Here is the Coding,
Dim sqlConn As SqlClient.SqlConnection sqlConn = New SqlClient.SqlConnection("server=localhost" & "initial catalog=LIB") Try
I have had a problem with my program not working on a windows 7 machines so i finally built a box with Windows7 to test it. It seems the Schema.ini file is not being created. If I manually place the schema.ini file in the directory my program runs fine any ideas on why the file is not created on a Windows7 machine but is created on XP
schema ini code Dim safeFileName As String = IO.Path.GetFileName(Me.OpenFileDialog1.FileName) Dim fs As New FileStream("Schema.ini", FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write)
When using VB.Net (2008) and paused in debugging, Edit-And-Continue is a great time-saver. However if you change any module/class-level information (variable, sub/function signature, etc), you get the error message like this:
"unable to apply this change while debugging"
While I can understand the technical challenge to making this work (and why it would be hard), it leaves me in a tight spot with just a few options:
1) Restart and recompile and get the program back to the same state
2) Continue debugging without making the change, and risk forgetting
3) Type up a reminder note to make the change All of which are annoying. Now I know that option '4) Just actually make the change' may not be possible. but does anybody know how to enable the following 'technically easy' possibility?
4) Let me change the code, get it flagged with the purple squiggly underline, so I can save it, but just ignore the change until recompile
I have checked the Tools|options|debug|edit and continue, nothing appears to let me do this.
I am in process to develop an application for Windows Mobile 6.5 using Visual Basic 2005 and .NET Compact Framework. My problem is that I want to know if an instance of my application is already running and, in that case, I want to jump directly to that instance, without starting another one. I tried several solutions found on the internet but I think there are solution for desktop applications not for mobile applications because I have a lot of errors.
i got error that is not familiar to me in the line with bold font... i'm using windows 7 with MS Office 2010 and Visual studio 2005 in this application
Trying to debug a Windows application, in the Immediate Window, if I type the following:?UBound( I see a tooltip showing the syntax of UBound, but when I complete the statement as ?UBound(CBa) where CBa is the name of an array, I get the response: Name 'UBound' is not declared. Strangely enough, the UBound function is referenced in the code prior to the breakpoint, and works correctly. Why can't I use it in the Immediate Window? I have the same problem with the Len function, it says it's not declared.
I can pause the application and see that it thinks no threads are running so no call stack. The other projects in the same solution are all responding fine, just this one stalls. I can not think of any way to work out what it was doing at time of stall, I have no event logs, no breakpoints, there is no particular thing I can check for in my own logging system (which is quite extensive) that shows where/why/what the application is hanging for. Any clues on how to solve/investigate? To add, this is on a Vista box, but not able to move the system to anything else (source controlled) until I can find out what this is. Its an avenue I can go down if required however.
I have a solution with four projects loaded in it. When I hit F5, it always starts up one particular project. How can I tell it to fire off one of the others?
I am using vb.net 2010 with access 2007. everything works fine in XP, but when I switched over to windows 7 I did not proper result some queries here is my query: Select * FROM tblname WHERE fordt=#13-12-2010#
I set my computer then install VB6.0 run VS2005 VB.net 2005 error example: Visual Studio can not start debugging because-the debug target exe .'... 'is missing.uild the project and retry, or set the OutputPath and AssemblyName properties appropriately to point at the correct location for the target assembly. same machine can use the same VB6.0 and vb.net 2005 is not? do not fix the error, for example, I run with the above error, see attachment (Thumbnails.rar)
We paid to have a program built as an add in to SolidWorks. I believe it was written with VB6 and now does not work on the newer 64 bit OS. Now the programmer wants an exorbinant (sp?) amount of money to update to work with the 64 bit. Is he legit or just trying to make more cash?
I have a file located in "c://nakahiru/config.cfg". Inside the file at line number 13 there is a line call (bind "0" "slot10"). I just want to replace that line with textboxt1.txt. I am using visual studio 2005.
i have a problem in creating my program. i am using vb.net 2005. after i finished some modules in my program, i saved it. and the other day, when I'm going to continue my work, i can't be able to edit it. when i run it, the additional features that i created were not found. but, after running my program, i can see my added features in the form. i don't know what to do, because i am not familiar in vb.net, i am just a beginner using it.
A change I made to the project's configuration must have disabled the ability for me to edit the code at runtime. I used to be able to pause execution and edit code on the fly, but I recently made a change to the configuration manager to build releases for x86 and all of the sudden I can no longer update code while running the app. This is very frustrating as I have to keep stopping and starting my app.
I have a datagridview. i fetched the data in the datagridview from the database(access) and then i want to edit the contents of the datagridview. the datagridview looks like this:
i have problem with my button edit, after i make change in the data then i click edit button to save all the data. After that i check again the data is not changing and still the same. This code here can run and don't have any error but cannot save the data which i changed [Code]
I have a DataGridView and i binded its datasource to the datatable. Now i want to edit and delete the data from the datagridview in this way:I did this in asp.net and now i want to do the same in the vb.net.What i want to do is that each dataGridView row will contain two link button called edit and delete(in the above figure they are the imagebuttons of asp.net),when i will click the edit link button then it will change to update and cancel link buttons and the contents of that particular row will be shown in textboxes so that the row can be edited by the user.
I want to edit the data into the ListView of the first item. when i right click on item..But when i right click selected item not come in edit mode...
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load For lcount As Integer = 1 To 3 ListView1.Items.Add(lcount.ToString, lcount - 1)
How To Editing The "Connection String" in the Configuration file by the Code in the Runtime. This is my Code My.MySettings.Default.Item("ConString") = "New Connection String" My.MySettings.Default.Save() This code can edit the Configuration file in the run Time but if I restart the system the Configuration file will return back to the first Configuration.
I am using visual studio 2005. I want my form should be editable, when i am pressing some function key. Like, when form load, no field should be editable. When i will press "Ctrl + N" or "Ctrl + F2" Key then only form should be editable. Is this possible?
I'm working on an updater for my applications. I'm using VB .NET 2005. So, when I push the button called "Download" it runs twice and does the following: Download the file (~20mb). When the file is downloaded then it does again the same overwriting the first file. I used the following to make the download possible:
I'm writing in Visual Basic, using Visual Studio Standard 2008, targetting framework 3.5.When debugging, I pause code and edit it in my Startup Project, then continue running.Where the code moves into one of my non-startup projects, I am sure I used to be able to edit that code and continue running. Now, whenever I try and do that, I get a dialog stating that "Changes are not allowed when the debugger has been attached to an already running process", even though I can still edit code in the already-running startup project. All of my code is in VB, there's no weird language crossover thing going on. Why can't I edit-and-continue my non-startup projects?
Im a user of VB 2005. I had a problem with Simply run a project (Even Without any code in it). Indeed when i Creat a new project and i want to run and debug it (with F5). The information box show that cant debug. and because of that, the program may not run.The Message in information box is here (in Appendix).I try it with VB 2008 (But didnt work). After i Reinstall all of VB and Install again, but my problem existed even now.
