VS 2005 Read A File From Embedded Resources?
Mar 13, 2010I'm having trouble with reading a file from embedded resources.
I'm starting to learn about developing applications for eBay. You can pass queries to eBay in XML format, and receive replies back in the same format.
I have some examples of code to do this. Here's how the sample code loads an xml file, containing the query.

I can't see any difference between the sample and my attempt.
The Assembly Name and Root Namespace in my project are both set to "Sample," just as in the original.
I've tried things like changing the filename and the namespace, but I still can't get it to work.
Trying To Read A Delimited Text File From Resources
Apr 11, 2010I'm having a problem where instead of reading a text file from the location string, I changed it to read the text file from the resource location and it breaks my program. I know I can use the System.IO.StreamReader class to do it for a Windows text file.I'd like to store some SQL scripts for upgrading my database in text files within my project. Since I'm writing this in VB I can't just paste the scripts directly into my code due to line continuations, where I could if it were C#. These are very long scripts.

there is no sequence like tab delimited, comma delimited or CL/LF, so it need to search on every prefix series and fetch entire serial number. But i have no clue how to write code in vb.net 2005.

what I need is a code to make text box load the text file wich have the same name of selected in combobox for example when user selct : CT-810 in combobox the text file with name: CT-810 must be loaded in the text box and so on for other combobox records

The basic problem is that at the end of my program I need to be able to write out a text file and then read that same text file back in when the program restarts or reopens. The best and easiest way I have found to read in the file is to place the text file with in the Resources and use this code.

So then I want to be able to change that string and then write it back out. Part of the problem is I want to be able to use this from a flash drive or a changing directory.

Jan 8, 2011I am having a problem with my program that is desinged to read a 3rd party text file database. I posted previosuly about a problem inserting an item in a new row and the column was expectig a different data type. It appears that sometimes the column is being determined to be of decimal value, I dont understand why. the fields contain information such as
Col1
F123456
CLW-12321 etc....
So my column fills with
123456
12321 the letters just get chopped off
So I added MaxScanRows = 0 to my schema file and that took care of the problem
Except now several of my columns that contain Date Values are coming back
9/24/2010 00:00:00
without the setting MaxScanRows = 0
The date returned 9/24/2010

I am thinking that without the MaxScanRows = 0 setting the datatype for Col1 is being incorrectly determined
I am not sure what is happening with other columns that contain date values. Apparently If i use MaxScan Rows=0 all columns are being pulled over as string value which creates numerous problems. If I dont use maxscanrows then all columns appear to be correct except Col21 MLSNUM which is being pulled in as a decimal. Can I change that in the schema file?

I would like to be able to search any record that is mark with a checkbox to show up in my search screen when I do a search: [code] The problem that i am having is that now that I have added the code to my project to search for the checkbox field in the search screen and if I leave everything blank and click on the the search button I get no record found. I expected to see all that data, since I have nothing selected. Now if I click my checkbox, as soon as I click on my search button I see that two records that I have added for my test.
