VS 2008 Call Procedure To Handle All Control.click Events?

Jul 27, 2009

I am trying to make a routine that will be called everytime the mouse button is clicked. I want it to be called so that the controls event that the mouse is clicked on is triggered.

For example:

You have a button control on your form. Instead of having the Button1_click event

You have a Control_click event. And that Control_Click event will be used for each control on the form.

Inside A Seperate Procedure And Call It From Both Events?

Sep 12, 2009

This is a very basic newbie question, but I still haven't worked it out yet. I have a fair amount of code that I want carried out inside my Form1_Mousemove event, but I also want the exact same code inside the Form1_MoveClick event. I assume the best solution is to take all of the code and put it inside a seperate procedure and call it from both events? Or is it possible to call one of the events manually so inside my Mouseclick event, could I force a call to the Mousemove event?

Pass A Handle In A .NET Form To C For It To Draw On/get Click Events?

Jul 20, 2009

I am trying to put a new face on an old C program. The C program is, of course, unmanaged code, designed smartly to separate the number crunching and the interface, and the interface I'm trying to replace is X windowing. The graphics part is where it gets a little hairy, because the C is going to need to continue to draw in my new interface, based on the data the program produces. Even if I want to duplicate that data in .NET so that the .NET side can handle all of the drawing, the fact remains I'm going to need to operate on the graphics window in some fashion from C.

I gather that handles have a lot to do with the bare Win32 graphic operations. Is such a similar handle provided to, say, a PictureBox element in .NET? And if so, is it the kind of handle I can use in the unmanaged code without an issue?

I have tried and tried and tried to google for the solution for weeks now, and all I come up with are either C++ solutions (using object-oriented GDI+) or some sort of extension to the C language.

Alternatively, is there a way I can have .NET create a handle specifically for this purpose of having C draw it?

To sum it up, I am using Visual Basic .NET 2008 and a C DLL (also compiled in VS2008), so far in the little testing I've done, I've been able to marshal complex structures to and fro, but I am not sure how exactly I'd let C do any drawing on the .NET form, if that was even possible.

VS 2008 Way Of Making Click Events For Individual Items Based On What Control Is Right Clicked?

May 28, 2009

I want a context menu strip to have 4 specific items. For testing purposes, we call them Item1, Item2, Item3, and Item4.I've set up a context menu strip like this, and I am using it for about 20 different controls. I want these four items to do different things based on what control the user right clicks. The only way I could think of doing this, was to make 20 context menu strips and create a click event for each item. This obviously, seems like a really bad way of doing it.Does anyone have any suggestions or another way of making the click events for the individual Items based on what control is right clicked?

Unable To Handle Events When Adding Control At Runtime

Mar 11, 2011

I am in need of adding arr of type label at run-time. I am making a program which will retrieve employee name from database in different label. On clicking each employee name (label) it will display all the information about that employee in a msgbox. I use the following code to create the label. Since the number of labels is not fixed I have used an array.
dim withevents lblArr() as Label 'declared in the class

In the subroutine(Form load):
for i as integer=0 to NoofEmployee-1
redim lblArr(NoofEmployee-1)
lblArr(i)=new Label
' I assigned all the necessary property like size location etc..
me.controls.add(lblArr(i))
next

I declared another subroutine:
private sub MyClick(sender as Object,e as EventArgs) **handles lblArr(0).click**
MsgBox("Hello")
end sub
The code doesn't compile since a subroutine doesn't.

Tabbed Control Form - Procedure Call Does Not Fire

Mar 6, 2012

My main form is a tabbed control with 2 tabs. The first tab is has two listview controls which display information about the current machine. The second tab contains a treeview control and two listview controls. This tab recreates the device manager in windows. I created a Machine class to gather the information about the machine that I want to display to the user. When I call the Display() Method from my form's load event everything appears to be fine the first tab's information is displayed in the listview controls.

Here's the kicker, when I click to the device manager tab there's nothing there. The LoadTree() procedure never fires. This code works, I've seen my device tree display a thousand times in the past. When I comment out the call to Machine.Display() my device tree reappears no problem. The code compiles fine no errors. I know the problem has to be in my Machine class but I have no idea what could cause this kind of response. I've never seen a program compile clean and then refuse to fire a procedure call but not produce some kind of runtime error.

Getting Click Events From Buttons In A Control Array?

Feb 22, 2010

Using VB 2008 Express.

Attaching code to buttons when they're clicked is easy when they're static buttons on the form; just double click the button on the form designer and add code to the event.

I have a series of buttons that are generated in a control array, so they're generated in a class, and in the form there are no buttons until runtime.

So newbie question with a probably simple answer...how do I enter code for the click event for buttons that aren't there until they're instantiated as a class at runtime?

Main Procedure Call A Sub Procedure To Display Values Of X / Y And Hypotenuse

Dec 1, 2011

The instructions are as follows:

1. Write a Visual Basic Console Application.Inside the main procedure call a function procedure to input and return a value for a double variable called x, the width of a right triangle.Inside the main procedure call the same function procedure a second time to get a value for a double variable called y, the height of a right triangle.

2. From the main procedure call a function procedure which calculates and returns a value for the hypotenuse equal to the square root of (x squared + y squared). You will have to pass the values of x and y to this function procedure. The procedure should calculate and return a double type value. The value that is returned by this function procedure should be equal to the square root of (x squared + y squared).

3. Also from the main procedure call a sub procedure to display the values of x, y, and the hypotenuse.

VS 2008 - Form Close Events To Call Exit With User Confirmation

Sep 3, 2009

I am trying to close my application and I have coded on the form closing, form closed events to call an exit form which asks the user for confirmation to exit or not. All works fine. When I press the X button on the winform things act different. On the main form where I press the X btn I store some user ID data that I use throughout the app. If I press cancel on the exit form that data is lost from the main form and cannot be used afterwards. So if the user pressed by mistake the X btn and then presses cancel on the exit form the application loses some stored data and many functions stop working.

VS 2008 Moving Click Events To Module?

For each event. Clearly I have to define a WithEvents variable, but I have no idea how or where to.

VS 2008 Handle Click Event Of Component During Design-time

Feb 10, 2010

I have a UserControl with a Panel (Panel1). The UserControl has a property Items (type ControlCollection) that returns the Controls collection of Panel1.Via a custom CollectionEditor, I tell the designer that it should add my custom controls called Item (inheriting Control). For the sake of example, the Item control is just a control with a random background color:[code]The custom CollectionEditor creates new Item controls using the DesignerHost service (and its CreateComponent method), so that they appear as actual components in Panel1, selectable during design-time just like any other control. It might be a little hard to see (because the colored Items are docked to the top), but I have selected the red item, which can also be seen from the Properties list.

As you can see in the code, I attach a Click event handler to each item as it is added to Panel1. When clicked, a MessageBox shows the color of the item. Obviously this is just for the sake of this example, but the point is that I need to be able to click an item and something then needs to happen. This works fine during run-time. I can click each item, and the MessageBox shows. The problem is that it does not work (quite obviously) during design-time. When I click it during design-time, it is simply selected (as any other control) and of course does not register any Click (nor MouseClick) events. But, I need the Click event to fire even when in design-time! Clicking an item corresponds to selecting it, and when selected (even in design-time), some other panel (not shown in this example) should be brought to the front so it gets visible. Now, I have created lots of things very similar to this (clicking an item during design-time), but there has always been one major difference: those items were not actual controls on the form. Instead, they were drawn manually on to their parent (and they only looked like separate controls). Obviously there was no design-time support for those 'items' (as they weren't controls), but I could handle clicking them quite easily: by handling the MouseClick event of the parent, I can check the location and see if it falls within an item. If so, that item was 'clicked' (artificially). This time, the items are actual controls, and this method does not work (the parent does not receive a MouseClick event either). So, does anyone know of any way to do this? The only way I can think of right now (although I have no idea how to implement it) is to somehow 'listen' to changes in the designer selection.

VS 2008 Context Menu Left & Right Click Events

Oct 26, 2009

Anyways, after thorough researching as much about context menu, I have tried to do a left and right click context menu, including the events that will happen by opening the context menu. I wanted this to happen on a specific place, not the form itself (In this case, a picture). The left click context menu works fine, but when I try a right click context menu, the left click context menu will pop-up as soon as I release the right click button.[code]By using this code, I have a small nuisance of the right click event, where when released, it also uses the left click event. Any ideas of how to, well, stop it opening the left click menu when I release the right click button?Alternatively, I was thinking of using a mouse hover event to replace the right click event, but I'm not that advanced of a programmer.

.net - Handle ALL Events In One Handler?

Is it possible in VB.NET to easily write an event handler that will handle every event that fires? I'm wondering if one could make a logging system using something like this.I'm wanting to do something like (in pseudocode):

Public Sub eventHandledEvent(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
File.Write(sender.EventName)
End Sub

I realize it would be slow, but it wouldn't be for a production system, only as a development tool.
