How to get all attribute name and check with user specified name, and change its value not name..

I have a userControl that I made, and it was placed on a form with other controls.On the form I pass the values from the other controls to a Function inside the userControl, this then takes the values passed in and the values on the userControl to make and return an object.
The Problem is that when it gets down to '.GameOppScore = OppScore' it decrements .GameScore by 1 and then decrements .GameOppScore by 1. It does nothing to the passed in values or the value in the input text box.
It just randomly decides to -1, I walked through the code while running and couldn't find a reason why it would do that.

I am trying to read through a bunch of sub directories checking to see if the archive bit is set on any file and if so then I intend to create a zip file of the entire folder as a backup copy and then I need to reset the archive bit.
The problem is that I do not want to change any other attributes that may be set and for some reason I do not see a way to retain these while clearing the archive bit.
I am also not sure if the method I am using for checking the archive bit will work correctly in cases where the file is also read only or hidden or other such attribute.
When I create a directory the 'Read only' attribute is always on. How can I change this so I can write to my created dir?
View 32 RepliesI wonder, what is the most elegant way of dealing with the dbnull situation. I have a class, with attribute, let's say: "End_Date", which is being read from database. Type of this variant should be date, but as it's the "End_Date", there might be the situation that something haven't ended yet, and in the database in this field I have a null value.
Right now a deal with the problem this way:

But I am not sure if that's a good way as I don't declare variants as any datatype?
I have a class that inherits from control with some custom properties added, and I am using a propertygrid to change the properties at run time. I don't want any of the inherited properties of the control available in the PG so to each of my class properties I amassigning a CategoryAttribute and I am adding the same categories to the PG.BrowsableAttributes collection. When I add a single category to the BrowsableAttributes collection it works fine, but when I add more than one, none of the categories show up in the PG. I am wonding if there is a simple setting in the PG, or if I have missed something setting it all up.

The problem im having grabbing the attribute names out of xml document. Here is the snippet:

I have created a loop to display the results. In the snippet above, how do i grab the attributes name(name, length, slope, and level_of_height). I have used reader.name is giving me RUNWAY which is correct as the elements name. I tried getAttribute and it give me all of the values of the attributes, but not there name.

OK So basically as the title says, in my browser i have tabs, now when a new tab is open and the user will go to a new page, if they click to the next tab the url box & document title remain the same (until they click a link or something) are there any methods of detecting when the person clicks to another tab so that i can code it to change the textbox and form text?
View 4 RepliesA former co-worker wrote a class in C# that was to be used as an attribute. I'm having to convert his work to VB (yeah, it's pointless and way more work than necessary, but management thinks it's a good idea). Unfortunately I'm having an issue because one of the main properties of the class is an ArrayList which is set with a ParamArray in the constructor. The class looks like this (note I've tried to abstract out the problem, so this is a simplified version of the class only)

In the first one, there is just the single label being added. No Problem. In the second one there are 2 different labels being added. Again, no problem. The third one, however, is a problem because it's assuming that the "Description", which is supposed to be the description is instead being interpreted as another label.
This wasn't a problem in C# because it could be set as follows:

Of course this doesn't work in VB because optional parameters aren't referred to by name as they are in C#. As a stopgap I've changed the constructor to allow only a single label like this

But that undermines some of what this class is meant to do. Does anyone know how, or even if I can get the same basic functionality to work in VB?
Think there must be a way to make the existing design work. Imagine this class was built into a library that I could not modify. Would I be forever forbidden from setting Description because of this design?
