I added an ICON (called pencil) file in my resources in vb.net, I tried several codes to change the cursor... like this

I am working on a contract to repair problems in a application that interfaces with a custom built digitizer tablet.The application recognizes the tablet at startup, initiates calibration to locate the pad limits and then saves those limits to file.During the run of the application the user has a cursor that is changed to a line with a X on the left hand side of it. The user then uses this custom cursor to click in a PDF document where they would like the contents of the Digitizer pad to be placed. When they click a box signifying the size of the digitizer pad along with the same blank and X appears. What I have been having issue with is that the box and the line with the X appear most of the time but on occasion the line and X appears at either the top or bottom of the box and the click is no longer at the line with the X but somewhere in the middle of the box. This really screws up things and often the user has to uninstall and re-install the application to get it righted.
The values that save the calibration points are bound to variables during the build process, there is a separate routine to calibrate the digitizer pad if the user desires to do it again.

I have come across a problem with visual studio 2010 & vb.net. i have a few custom controls on the form and few standard controls. When i build the application, the custom controls automatically change size and location. Anchoring and Dock properties are fine. Anchored to Top Left without dockstyle. Even if i fix the location and size in design mode, after i run the application the controls again change back to weird position.

At the bottom right corner of the form, I read the coordinates 483,460 (instead of 500,500) I precise that the upper left corner has the coordinates 0,0.I also notice that the size of a control differs from the form's size. for example if Picbox1.height = Form1.height, then the Picbox will be bigger than the displayed Form1.

1. I have a custom cursor that won't display in color, no matter what I do.
2. Can I have Animated Cursors?
3. Why doesn't VB.net support 32 bit cursors, but only 8 bit?
4. Can I have a cursor thats greater than 32x32?
Is there a way to create a custom cursor when doing a DnD operation? For example, if I'm dragging a button control I would like the cursor to look like a rectangle that is the same size as the button.
View 4 RepliesI want to create a custom control that has a cursor like a regular text box, I tried using a line and a timer that makes the line 'Blink', but that wasn't too reliable because I had to change the location and background in the timer... I guess I could do it, but I wanted to ask my question here.
Basically what I am doing is creating a custom control to allow inputs as in fractions, sub/superscripts, etc.... The TextBox Control doesn't support text in that many locations.
can i put my own custom cursor in ? so when the cursor is over form1 its my own custom one ?

Now this program will only be used on systems that I produce, and send out. I need to make sure that for any monitor that these people use it will always be at the standard resolution of 1440 x 900..
I have tried setting up profiles with catalyst control panel, but if you plug in a different monitor to the one that was plugged in when you made the profile it wont recognise the screen and the system wont run properly.
So I wanna see if I can change the resolutions of the screen that will be plugged in the monitor slot and also if possible make sure the other extended screen should there resolution of 1024 x 768..how much control can you get over the monitors that are plugged in?

I am trying to change the cursor type to a crosshair but am having no luck. The program I am writing initially starts up as taskbar notfiy icon. Once one of the menu items is clicked the mouse cursor should change from an arrow to crosshair. This should remain like this when the mouse button is pressed again, held and then released and then it should go back to being an arrow cursor once again.To start off, I wrote the following code:

Is it possible to get the size of the cursor through code? Note that I don't want the position, but the size of the actual cursor. The reason being so that I can make tooltips appear at the bottom right of it. AFAIK, cursor size isn't universal, but in order to get a tooltip to the bottom right of a cursor, you need this math.

Right now I use 12x12 since I remember that being a relatively normal size, but I know it could be bigger too.
Using VB on a graphics screen I want to have the cursor move on a grid as opposed to every pixel. I believe I must hide the cursor and then draw it myself over the background, but I do not understand how to do this.
View 9 Repliesi have have a MDI child form which have different textbox for criteria and a datagridview for result.When i launch the research i change the cursor : me.usewaitcursor = True when it finish i go back me.UseWaitCursor = False It works but some times (not all the time) if you move the cursor over the datagridview during the research, the cursor still in WaitCursor OVER the datagridview, it didn't go back to default but on the rest of the form is good (default arrow).I have tried whith : Me.cursor , cursor or cursor.current but i have the same result/problem.

I get an error saying that the cursor format may be wrong. It is a .cur which is the standard for cursors. How to rewrite this so when GetAsyncKeyState(1) then the computers cursor will change to the currentcursor.

Anyone know how to make the text cursor (claret) wider in a RichTextBox control? It seems to ignore the setting in Vista settings and does its own thing instead. I wouldn't describe my vision as being seriously impaired - just middle aged!
On a high resolution screen it is a real chore trying to find the text cursor position. I've ended up doing a heavy kludge of putting a little image of an arrow on the screen attached to a timer control to track and point to the cursor position!!! This is a very silly work around. It must be possible to make the text cursor wider somehow? It is only one pixel wide and I can barely see it. I can't be the only one who struggles with these narrow cursors?
