VS 2008 Creating Subroutines For Objects Which Are Yet To Be Created?
Mar 12, 2012
I'm creating a list of labels dependent on a few variables based on search results.Say I have 10 search results, 10 labels will be created within a for each statement, however I want to create subroutines for these 10 labels with an onclick event, is this possible
As it is right now I have a bit of code that kind of looks like this (a little paraphrased but Im sure you get the idea)[code]I thought for sure the above would work but it still seems that I am missing something, when I open the excel sheet nothing was printed. This would cut down the lines of code that I have in half easily, so I would love to find a solution for this [code]But the excel sheets still do not update with the new information.
I want to know what are classes , objects , a namespace , subroutines, functions, methods, properties and differemce betweem byval and byref in your words.
I am trying to access objects created at run time. The following code works IF Options Strict is off. If it is on it indicates "Option Strict On disallows implicit conversions from 'System.Windows.Forms.Control' to 'System.Windows.Forms.TextBox'."
Option Strict Off Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim txt As TextBox = Me.Controls("T3")
[code]....
I am having trouble formulating the type conversion.A Second problem I am having occurs when I create a groupbox at runtime and then add the textboxes to the groupbox. I am having trouble drilling down to gain access to the textboxes inside the groupbox.
I'm creating a certain number of objects based on some templates that I have available to the user. Then, I have a module created for each template where I will be doing some math operations, etc.
I know how many objects will be created, but of course visual studio doesn't at design time.
Dim newhydzone As PictureBox newhydzone = New PictureBox newhydzone.Name = "Zone" & Form1.hydzonecount
I can usually find the answers to most of my questions via the Google Gods, but not this time.I have a form that has a TabPageControl and on that page a collection of labels and text boxes via a usercontrol.
On the form I have a button that allows the user to create a new tabpage, when the code adds a new page, it automatically adds the UserControl collection. I can't get my head around how to access the objects on the newly created tabpage.
What I need to be able todo is take the index of the tabpage that has focus and translate that against the UerContol name, but I havn't a clue how to do it!
I'm trying to develop a program that turns matrices into their reduced Echlon forms. The user specifies the number of Columns & Rows for the matrix, which is generated by the following Sub Routine
Private Sub ButCreate_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ButCreate.Click 'Columns and Rows are specified by the user rows = TxtRows.Text columns = TxtColumns.Text 'clears all of the controls(text boxes) from the TableLayoutContainer [Code] ..... How to do is access/manipulate those newly created textBoxes. After the user enters values to those boxes, I want to assign each of their columns to an array.
I have created a PictureBox array to hold 104 playing cards that are all visible at the same time.I did this with this line in the declarations:Shared Card(104) As PictureBox
And with these lines in the Form_Load module:
For I% = 1 To 104 Card(I%) = New PictureBox Card(I%).Name = String.Format("Card{0}", I%.ToString) Card(I%).Size = New Size(71, 96)
[Code]...
I have been successful in creating the array, positioning each and entering the images for all 104 PictureBoxes, but now I want to add code for the event "MouseDown.I copied the code for this event from my VB3 program and VB10 automatically updated the list of parameters, but nothing has linked the objects (Card) to the code.
I have tried to append "Handles Card.MouseDown" as well as several variations with brackets to indicate that it is an array.Auto-complete doesn't include "Card" as an option, and of course, since the array was never an object added to the form design, I can't create the empty module from there.
I have created a program that allows the user to click on screen and add many ovalshape objects. But I have got stuck as now I need to create a rightclick event for any of the runtime generated ovalshapes on screen and dont know how to refer the right click event to all the many objects?
My code for creating the oval's are as follows:- Dim Drg As New ShapeContainer Dim Shape As New OvalShape Drg.Parent = Me Shape.Parent = Drg Shape.Size = New System.Drawing.Size(10, 10) Shape.FillColor = StampColor Shape.FillStyle = FillStyle.Solid
But how do I write a click event now for any of these runtime created objects???
I'm trying to communicate through a serial port with separate subroutines for establishing the connection to the device and handling routine messages. I'm able to establish the connection, but reference to the COMPort in another subroutine fails with a message that the port is closed. I can successfully communicate using COMPort.Write commands within the connection subroutine, so I know that works. How do I pass a reference for the comport to other subroutines?
Access objects on a dynamically created UserControl an a dynamically created tab page. I can usually find the answers to most of my questions via the Google Gods, but not this time. I hope the collective that is StackOverFlow can help! I have a form that has a TabPageControl and on that page a collection of labels and text boxes via a usercontrol.
On the form I have a button that allows the user to create a new tabpage, when the code adds a new page, it automatically adds the UserControl collection, all good so far. I can't get my head around how to access the objects on the newly created tabpage. What I need to be able todo is take the index of the tabpage that has focus and translate that against the UerContol name, but I havn't a clue how to do it! [Code]
I dynamically (by programming text, not drawing in GUI) created a matrix of 10x10 buttons named 'Button1' till 'Button100'. In a formula I calculate a number, say '87'. If I next want to reference 'Button87' and change e.g. the background clolor and text properties, how would I do that? I am creating a PocketPC game using VB2005.
1) Add a Private variable named _area2) Associate the _area variable with a Property procedure called Area3) Change the CalculateArea method to a Sub procedure. The method should calculate the area and then assign the result to the _area variable.4) Include a parameterized constructor in the class. The constructor should accept one argument: the side measurement. After using the Public property to initialize the Private variable, the constructor should automatically call the CalculateArea method. At this point I believe I've completed the first 2 steps for the Square method, but I'm not sure where to go from therHere is my code for the Square class and the Main Form, in tha order:
Public Class Square Private _side As Integer Private _area As Integer
1. Write a Visual Basic Console Application which creates two DateTime objects. One DateTime object should be used to store a value for date purchased. The second DateTime object should be used to store a value for date paid. See below for more information.
2. Assign values to the two DateTime objects.
3. Use the toString method to display the two DateTime objects.
4. Compare the two dates to determine which date occurred first.
5. Compute the number of days elapsed between the two dates.
6. If the date purchased occurred before the date paid, display: The number of days required to receive payment was ________. Replace the _________ with the number of days computed between the two dates.
On the other hand, if the date paid occurred before the date purchased, display: The number of days this order was pre-paid was _______. Replace the _________ with the number of days computed between the two dates.
If the two dates are identical, display: The payment was received on the same date as the purchase.
I have a user control that inherits the FW ListView and I need to dispose of two objects when the form's disposing of it's objects. Here's what I've concluded already, am I on the right track?
send the values of my form to a text file upon submission? I need to create the file if it has not been created and append the file if the form has been created. I will then need to display the text file on the second tab of my form.Firstly, I need to know how to send the values of the form to the text file.
I'm having a problem at the moment developing my application. What i need to do is find out how many modems they are connected to my system and send data to each one in turn. I have the programme working for one modem at the moment.
So I can send data to a modem that i specify, for example a modem on COM port 1. I have functions already that will give me a list of COM ports that I need to open.My problem is that i want to dynamically create a new modem object along side existing modems and store them in a collection.
I'm wondering on how you would go abouts instantiating a class that contains other complex objects. for example an Payment Class which has Date,Time, etc.. and it also holds a reference to a paymethod object which has id,Type,Description etc.. How do you instantiate the payment class with all the other objects without one or the other failing, how do you create the payment class which doesn
I have a question. I have a class of Cars that I need to display in a simpli-ish string if they will be sold or not base on their number.
[Code]...
I'd like to display a simple string like this:Cars to be sold: 1, 3-5, 7-8, 11, which is based of the .Sell value. Is there some kind of heuristic to create this kind of string in .NET or is it just a bunch of for/each and if/then and redimming of arrays?
I have decided I would start small and make a program that would create a "receipt" list in a listbox and a total. Now, I would like the user to be able to add their own "menu" items. I'm assuming the best way to go about this would be to have them actually add it to a database and then a function in the program will refresh the dataset with the new list. However, this is where my problem lies. How can I tell VB .net 2010 that I want to create a new button (or buttons) on the fly, in an orderly pattern on the form, based on the input from a DB?
I would like to dynamically create an object (in my case a thread) and then be able reference that object. Simplistically put, I would like to read from a text file and then process each item using a thread (so that I don't have to wait for each item before starting the next). The problem is that I cannot think of a way to create a new thread dynamically ie. thread name so that I can then wait for all created threads before doing something else.
Is there a way to dynamically create an object at runtime? Background: Basically i have an employee class that i want to instantiate every time an employee logs in. What i don't want it to have an employee object already created for every employee, but when they log in the object gets created.
Are DLL files created by creating a Class file in VB ? If not, what are their purpose ? If I were to create a class that held the functions I needed for my program to function, would the class file compile with the assembly as a DLL ? Do I have it all wrong ?
I have a Clients master object and then a number of child objects whose exact number is not known in advance such as Client-Contacts, Client-Payments etc, all of which have a one-to-many relationship with the Client master object. How do I define classes for such a scenario? Do I for instance create the master Clients class and can then I create an array of class somehow for child objects?
I'm using VB.NET (visual studio) to create a chatbox (a program that mimics a human and has a text converstion with you). Two of my main classes are a word class and a sentence class. The sentence object is basically going to be a linked list of words objects. As the program executes, many word objects will be instantiated, and so will many sentence objects. But, each class (used to create the object) has several constants, procedures, and functions defined.
For each object instantiated, are new copies of the constants, procedures, and functions created in memory? Or, is only one copy of the constants and procedures created? Since many many objects will be created during program execution (each word of a sentence will be an object), that if the constants/procedures/functions are defined in memory again and again, that I'll run out of memory. What is the best way to structure my program so that the objects created contain only the variable data, and the constants/procedures/functions are defined only once?
Is there any way to use a LINQ to XML to query an XML document like the one below to create new (anonymous or strongly typed) objects from the child elements of a descendant? Here is my XML document:
