i have a datatable that contains numerous postcodes in the following format[code].....
there is always a space before the last 3 characters now i need to filter the datatable against a list of excluded postcode areas..these are the following format:-
BT1
BT2
BT4
BT40
so its either 2 letters & 1 number or 2 letters & 2 numbers, no 2nd part to the post code..i have a little function which builds the string, and then removes the rows from the dataset like so (ive pasted in an example postcode string)....[code]....
which obviously brings out no records as they all have full postcodes the issue is, i need to be comparing only the first half of postcode BTxx bit but cannot use a % wildcard, as this then would bring out BT40's when i only want, in this example, BT2 & BT4's..so is there a way to make it compare against the first half of the postcode?

It works ok when filter is on other fields but brings empty on 'CallDate' date field. I have declared the 'CallDate' field in db as long date format in Access.
I am trying to display value of the field ("UserID") for every row exists in datatable to checkboxlist(make the checkboxlist item selected).
I used for loop, but only the field value from last row of RoleUsers table is selected in the checkboxlist.

Example: I want to search for a student whose surname is 'Thomas' but the keyword is not the first in the field. The 'Surname' field, instead, contains the value "Ian Thomas".
If I am going to use this code;

It will base the searching on the first characters of the field only.

Jst recently i came across the select() method of data table and felli n love with it instantaneously.
Basically I want query the data table on a date field, unfortunately the format of the date string returned from y database in to data-table and the date string i'm passing as inputs are different.
How can i make sure that the data is compared irrespective of the formats ? Can I use something like SqlParameters whoes data type is date for comparison ??

I'm using EPPlus to create Excel reports. Now i'm trying to create a Pivot with a DateTime PageField, so that the user can filter the period he want to see by himself. But although i can filter this for year,month or days in the according data worksheet by default, i don't get it working in the Pivot.

The next step is I need to build a randomizer to randomly select a row and read the columns of that row into varibles.I have a working randomizer that can randomly pick a number between min and max values but what I don't know if how to select a row / How to find out how many rows are available and how to read the values into varibles.Am I right in declaring an Integer Varible then using:

On my form I have a set of check boxes and one of them is set to display all rows that have a dueDate > today's date (well that's what I want it to do). I have set up another filter on other criteria in other columns and am able to get it to work fine but I can't seem to find the trick to get the date comparison to work.

I have a date field bound to a textbox. If I make any changes to the textbox, I get "stuck" in the field unless I put a valid date value. All I want to do is set the date textbox to blank and move on to the next field, but I can't. I am eternally "stuck" in the field unless I put a valid date value.

I am connected to an access database which uses a text field to hold dates called 'Chased' which i cant change to a date field. I want to find all the rows which are either null, empty string or the date value is less than todays date. I tried cdate but i get the null value error as expected, is there a way of doing this.
