I am connected to an access database which uses a text field to hold dates called 'Chased' which i cant change to a date field. I want to find all the rows which are either null, empty string or the date value is less than todays date. I tried cdate but i get the null value error as expected, is there a way of doing this.
View 4 RepliesI�m trying to create a sort of "slider" to select the start date and end date of a query. I need to convert the contents of two textboxes to dates, and then do a datediff calculation.
The thing is it works with one of the textboxes, whereas the other casts an error that an integer (which is not in the textbox) cannot be converted to a date. I don�t know where the integer comes from. I�m guessing it�s some sort of format problem, but the textboxes are the same and the actual dates comes from the same field in the same database table.
We are running .NET 2.0 ASMX web services on Windows 2003 server on IIS 6.0. We have migrated a legacy VB 6.0 application to .NET 2.0 application using VB.NET. CDATE function is used at many places and we did not replace that with .NET equivalent date functions. After migration, code was working fine for many years.Recently, we have started encountering issues on our production servers where the below code fails:

I have a date field bound to a textbox. If I make any changes to the textbox, I get "stuck" in the field unless I put a valid date value. All I want to do is set the date textbox to blank and move on to the next field, but I can't. I am eternally "stuck" in the field unless I put a valid date value.

I have a textbox pulling an 'entryDate' field from my table using databinding. The field in the database is set to a 'Short Date', however when I bind that field to a text box and run the app it appends "12:00 AM" to the short date from the Db.

I am using visual studio 2010. I have a text box bound to a sql datetime field.I have to be able to either set or clear the text box. I can set it to any date fine, but when I try to clear it I am unable to save the record.i am using the binding navigator to save.

View 18 RepliesI am throwing some data out into Excel and am having some formatting troubles. I have 5 columns (date, time, a long number I don't want displayed in scientific notation - text is fine, text, text). I can get it all working with numberformat, however I have to do them different ways.
Date works this way cell.numberformat = "m/d/yy" and it formats it to say 3/1/11
Time works this way cell.numberformat = "h:mm AM/PM" and it formats it to say 8:07 AM
For the long number cell.numberformat = "@" and it doesn't change the format and it gets displayed in scientific notation
BUT if I use cell.style.numberformat = "@" it works as it should, but it messes up all of the date and time cells. Apparently when you use style.numberformat, it doesn't just apply to the cell you're working with. If I try using style.numberformat with the date and time formats, they don't change and are entered as if I didn't change the format at all.
In the following code an error arises because the date being passed to the cDate function is Null. However, the catch statement is in error and reports index out of range on the Catch Ex as Exception line. The exception helper says the word Exception is in error and advises that it is index out of range.
