I have a simple VB program that is using the IBM ADO .NET data provider. I've set this up so the data is used by a data adapter and fed with a standard DS. I've manually done the commands to acheive this in code. I tthen use the DS as the datasource for my datagridview. I'm having one issue and that is with a date field. It uses an "old" IBM date of CYYMMDD, century, month, day date in a numeric field. So my dates look like this for instance in the datagridview:
1100804
My question is this, is there any easy way to format them into mm/dd/yy after the DS has been put into datagridview but not yet displayed?
I have done this using the dataread object and can work out a format that way, but I'd have to recode what I already have done.
Some code:
' use the command & connection to fill the data adapter
adpt.SelectCommand = New iDB2Command(cmdText, Db2ConnectOSLD1F3)
' fill the tabel adapter
[Code].....

I have a datagridview populated using a csv file. I have a column named Date. The csv file has mixup of different date formats. So I need the date column in datagridview to be in standard "MM-dd-yyyy" format. I used below code
Me.dataGridView1.Columns("Date").DefaultCellStyle.Format = "d"It didnot have any impact.
So I used the below shown code Me.dataGridView1.Columns("Date").DefaultCellStyle.Format = "MM-dd-yyyy"Still no effect.

I'm trying to format a datetime field to just show the date. The datetime is bound to an asp:label and for the Text attribute I have tried the following....
Text= String.Format("{0:D}", '<%# Bind("CReviewDate") %>')
and
Text= String.Format("{0:D}", <%# Bind("CReviewDate") %>)
[Code]....
In all cases I get a green wavy line under the equation and the tip help says "Validation (ASP.Net): If this attribute value is enclosed in quotation marks, the quotation marks must match. String.Format("{0:D}", DateTime. Now) is the syntax that I have been told should work.

I'm simply databinding the data (containing date values) I got with a DataReader as in the following code:
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Dim id As Integer = Request.QueryString("id")
'Start connection
[code]....

I have a textbox pulling an 'entryDate' field from my table using databinding. The field in the database is set to a 'Short Date', however when I bind that field to a text box and run the app it appends "12:00 AM" to the short date from the Db.
How do I get my databound textbox to simply display the short date which exists in the table?

I am a bit new to crystal reports even though I've been doing a bit of heavy lifting with it.I have this crystal report that has a datetime field. This field has a default datetime of 1753-01-01 00:00. Now I want this field to display only date like "01-03-2011" and also anywhere it sees the default date, it should display an empty string like To achieve this I used this formular (in the display string)
if CurrentFieldValue = DateValue('1753-01-01 00:00:00') then
''
else
totext(CurrentFieldValue)
This successfully changes the default date to empty string. But now I can no longer change the format to dates only.

I'm fairly new to ASP.NET & VB.I've been asked to take an existing textbox that is automatically filled with the current date and allow the user to either add a "+" or "-" and a number or a spcific number and convert that into a date.I underdstand the basic concept on how to do this, but I'm running into some problems using the proper commands in order for this to work. The Textbox is called txtDate. What I've tried to do is this:
If txtDate = '+' Or '-' Then
DateAdd("d", txtDate, today)
End If
Here is what the whole thing looks like:
Protected
Sub
DateEnter_Click(ByVal

how I can ensure that conversion of a date to a string and a string to a date will give me the same date format.
For example:
Code:
Private Sub Button1_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim d As Date = Date.Now
[code].....
I'm actually only interested in the date part as the label text shows so f is more than I want. But also, the day and month are reversed.

I have a date I'm reading from an API in the following format:2010-03-15T00:00:00-04:00
When assigned to a date datatype in C#/VB.net, it's displayed as:
3/14/2010 11:00:00 PM //Note 3/15 is being displayed as 3/14
why is this displayed as the previous day? Is there a name for the format above?

I am attempting to import data in a batch from an Excel Worksheet to a Sql Server database. Everything works except for the one date field in the spreadsheet. The date returned is off by four years from the value in the spreadsheet. Example: The Excel sheet has a date 10/24/2010 14:18, but when I look at the column in my query, the date is 10/23/2006 2:18. This pattern, 4 years and 1 day earlier, is repeated for every row in the worksheet.
The Excel column comes to me as a custom type, formatted m/d/yyyy h:mm. I receive this from an outside vendor and having them change the column is not going to be my simplest solution.
For what it's worth, the relevent part of the query is:
Select [Date Created] From MyWorksheet

For example, today is 05/11/2009, I have two text box.
Actually it means that whatever what date i choose within the current month, the two textbox will display the last three months date.
For Example, Current Month is November 2009 , Textbox 1 will show 01/08/2009, Textbox 2 will show 31/10/2009.
Another example is Current Month is January 2009, Textbox 1 will show 01/10/2009, Textbox 2 will show 31/12/2008.
May I know how the vb.net code should look like?

I have a problem. I'm making a alarm clock and I need a way of converting a "dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss" format into a date time format. This means I'll be able to compare the dates in a listbox using the for each function, to the current date and see whever it has passed and therfore the alarm should be deleted. It is currently in a string form so I can't use < and > to compare it to the current date as that is in a date form. I've tried using CDate but it doesn't work as it only will convert these formats:
"August 12, 2004", "2:07:30 PM" and "August 12, 2004 2:07:30 PM"

We have database with Finnish_Swedish_CI_AS and datetime field. The program is using localization and Swedish its working fine. But when switching to other language I get problem. The dates in the typed dataset is shown like this. #4/28/2009 10:36:28 AM#, right format for that language but when the row is updated and with Adapter.Update(table). The databases don't like the format. The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value. The statement has been terminated."
