Im having a problem getting the selected values of a listbox that is databound..

The SelectedItem text shows up in the controls current state while debugging, correctly..
but after I finish the execution it shows up as "System.Data.DataRowView"
I would like to know how to take selected text from 1 listbox. Then add it to another and delete it from the 1st listbox.

View 18 RepliesI am having problems with copying from one listbox to another and keeping the paths of the files in the listbox's. At the moment i have two listbox's, listbox1 shows the list of files without the directory paths showing. Listbox2 is used to add items from listbox1 which work ok but what i need is to be able to preserve the directory paths to each file. how to do this and have searched high and low for a solution without any luck.
I have worked out one way of doing it but i think there is a better way of doing it as the reverse does not seem to work. So basicly i want listbox1 to list the files without the paths and pass it on to listbox2 so that the files can be copied to temp directory as they are being add to listbox2.

However only the red text appears which is only meant to come when the order of the text in both listbox and textbox isnt the same.

View 6 RepliesI've got a program which displays data in a listbox in five columns. All are separated using one or more ControlChars.Tab. I want to write these columns to a text file, however, when I do, my columns lose their alignment. I can change alignment so that it displays nicely in text file, but then it is off in list box. Is there a way to get what I see in my listbox to display the same way in a text file - maybe a different way of separating my columns (not using ControlChars.Tab)?

The goal is to drag items from LB1 to LB2.Problem is when I click on the item in LB1 it will not allow me to drag the item to the other box. View 2 RepliesI'm a little new to VB, and I'm in a class for it, but I'm trying to do something we aren't going to learn in the class (mostly out of sheer interest) and I need help. I'm trying to read lines from a text file into a listbox, each line representing a new item on the listbox. For example, if the text file reads: [code]I want to be able to take that as is and read it into a listbox, where those words would appear in the exact same fashion; as a list, each as separate items. I've looked at the Help stuff and learned (sorta) about delimiters... but the thing is I don't want to write my entire list in a continuous line separated by commas--I want it to keep reading each line, and moving on to the next, until there are no more lines left. I am thoroughly stumped, and would appreciate it SO much if someone could help. For a frame of reference, this is the point I'm at now with my code: [code]Note that when I run the program, all it will do is read the first line of text available and stop; once I press ENTER in a text file, it decides to stop reading.
View 2 RepliesIf I set a ListBox.Height = ListBox.PreferredHeight when the control is hidden and IntegralHeight = True, then set it visible:
a) Actual Height reduces by typically 3-5 pixels after redraw (but not 1 pixel per item).
b) PreferredHeight does not not appear to give the correct integral of item heights.
Is there a way to make ListBox calculate the correct integral Height before the ListBox is made visible, so it can be correctly pre-positioned from bottom edge?
